  1. We waited 5 months for a K1 interview. The embassy has gotten behind over the last couple of years, but seem to be trying to make a valiant effort to got caught up. They are inching forward to shorter wait times, but lets hope that things stay somewhat stable over the next few months for you. I have also noticed that there are some who interview at Cairo and are either not put in AP or its pretty short, so maybe that is helpful. Our interview is coming up and hoping for no AP. :)

  2. It is clear that the embassy in Cairo has been behind due to the unrest, but they genuinely seem to be trying to make up some ground. We too became "interview ready" in early December and we are hoping to get on the schedule for April. I have been emailing the embassy at the beginning of every month since December to see who is next up for the following month. Looks like they got everyone from sept-oct scheduled in March, so us Nov-Dec people will hopefully get in next month.

Please PLEASE keep us posted on how the interview goes. What documents are taken to the interview, what kind of questions they ask, if they tell you if you will be sent through administrative processing, etc. I want to be best prepared for next month as possible!

Thanks everyone! Best of luck at your interview. Inshallah it will be smooth and approved. :)

  3. yes one of required form at the packet 3 that he will receive is I-134 ... you must get it ready for him with HR letter and W2 forms for tax and last 2 paychecks.

once he get packet 3 you have to send him these papers with any other papers he will ask you for.

Good luck smile.png and congratulations for the NOA2 smile.png

OK Thank you both for your responses.

And thank you also for your congratulations. :)

Best of luck for you!!! Let us know if we can be of any help.

  4. Hi all.

I have a quick question. We are K1 filers. We received our NOA2 and notice from the NVC that our USCIS approval packet is headed to the embassy. I want to know if the I-134 forms will be part of the initial packet sent to the fiancé from the embassy. I assume either way that if we are using this affidavit of support option that it should be in hand at the interview date. Correct?

I ask because my fiancé will be here for a visit prior to his interview and I am thinking it would be best to gather it all up while he is here.

    Let me know!

    Thanks.

    Kristin

  5. How does the visitor visa work? How long did it take for him to receive that??

    Hi Tota,

I am sorry I did not clarify. The US visitor visa (B2, I believe) is something we applied for about a year and a half ago now...about may of 2011... it was a long and arduous process. He applied on his own at the embassy in Cairo, but I sent him a letter inviting him. The applicant has to prove that they can financially afford the trip and that they will return to Egypt if/when they visit. This is typically a disqualifier for a lot of people, but thankfully he works on a contract basis for the govt and this is sufficient to prove that he will return. I don't know what your person's situation is. Anyway, he applied and had an interview there. After the interview he was told he was like 95% approved, but now it will be in Administrative processing, aka background checks galore. That is supposed to take about 2 months, but as most VJers are noting it is taking quite longer. We waited about 6 months before I got irate and contacted my congresswoman. Within 2 days of our congresswoman's office inquiring, he was asked to send in his passport for the visa to be added. Thanks to the stellar (sarcasm) relationship between the US and Egypt, they give a 5 year multi entry visa. SO the visa he has is good until 2017. I am thankful for this because even if we can't afford multiple trips a year, I at least know that the option is there for us to see each other even if Egypt is a mess. The total time it took for him to get his visitor visa was about 7 months, but this is not supposed to be the typical time frame since we were stuck in AP for far too long.

Anyway, I am hopeful that this K1 process will not take until 2017! We just got started, so I am trying not to stress too much.

Feel free to message me if you have any more questions about our experience with that.

  6. I am soooo very thankful that my fiance received the visitor visa that is valid until 2017. This really helps my anxiety when I am not advised my anyone including him to visit egypt. And Elhamdulilah he will come again to spend time with me in a couple of months. I'm praying for all of our sake that the embassy in cairo can stay open and the country rebounds in a healthy way. The current state of Egypt breaks my love's heart everyday and that of course breaks mine. I realllllllly do NOT want to imagine being in this process for 3 years.....

  7. Can you please clarify if you received these responses after your case was transferred to a LOCAL office? Lots of people are posting responses regarding a transfer from Vermont service center to Texas service center, which is not the same thing as a local field office.

I received this message only 1.5 months after filing that my case was transferred to my local office, and confirmation today that it was received and review is underway.

Others are saying that an I-129F to local office means doom bc they suspect fraud or a false relationship..... That's scary.

    Please help me understand!

    Blessings to all!

Ok apparently after receiving my notice is the mail, mine e was also sent to TX, although that is definitely not my local office.

Seems most of you who got a quick approval from TX had been waiting since Jan - Feb, so I doubt I will get any decision soon since I am a June filer. It seems now they are quickly transferring to TX. A quick answer would be phenomenal but I won't hold my breath of course. :)

  8. PLEASE let me know when you for sure know the answer to this. I am exactly with you on my time line and I want to know what this "local office" transfer is!

Never mind. Although my "local office" would be the DC field office, my letter said it was sent to the Texas service center. So I will wait.....

  9. MY F JUST FILED JULY 9, 2013, IT WAS ON ACCEPTANCE BY JULY 12, 2013.. THEN WE GOT NOA1 HARDCOPY NOTICE DATE IS JULY 16, 2013..THEN JULY 22, 2013 ALIEN REGISTRATION NUMBER WAS CHANGE. WHEN I CHECK MY CASE STATUS AUGUST 7, 2013( YESTERDAY) I SAW THE MESSAGE WAS CHANGE BUT STILL UNDER INTIAL REVIEW. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS? NOA2 SOON??

"On August 6, 2013, we transferred your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), to your local USCIS Office for further processing. The new office has jurisdiction over your case and will send you a decision as soon as processing is complete or you will be notified if further information or action is needed."

PLEASE let me know when you for sure know the answer to this. I am exactly with you on my time line and I want to know what this "local office" transfer is!
  10. You will get one more email saying your case HAS been transfered and is now in processing....then a week after that one another email saying you been approved

    Congratulations

  11. The situation in Egypt right now is quite depressing. I hope this clears up some by the time my I-129F is complete so that the US embassy side of things wont be as delayed. I am so sorry for those who are trying to conduct interviews and such right now.....and I wish I could do something to get all my loved ones out of Egypt for the time being.

  12. I am wondering if anyone knows if your fiancé has recently been granted a visitor visa if this will have any impact on the speed of the K1. I'm thinking it might make it quicker, but again, I don't want to set unrealistic expectations here.

Any advice on that would be greatly appreciated! Good luck everyone!

  13. Hi! Im not sure if this is helpful but ill tell you what happened with my guy last year when we were applying for the visitor visa (now we are doing K1).

The background d checks DO occur in Washington DC. The department of state is not likely to answer your questions. We contacted the embassy in cairo so many times. They kept saying that there is no red marks against the case in the system and that we have to wait for AP to be completed. This is supposed to be done in 2 months time. We waited 6 called all the time and getting more and more frustrated.

I eventually contacted my local congresswoman's office. She has case workers there that assist residents in her area with immigration issues. The very sweet case worker gave me some information releases to complete. She herself contacted the Dos and they respond appropriately since she is working for the congresswoman. Within 2 days of her I quiting, the online e case status thing requested he send his passport in.

I don't know why, but sometimes pulling your congress representative into the mix is just enough to shake the case loose from wherever it is stuck. Give it 2 Mo the from interview date and then start this process if you need.

    Good luck!

  14. Thanks so much Cassie for getting to the bottom of this! I just sent my paperwork in and my NOA1 is dated June 10 and I got this updated message on June 17. I do believe in God doing good miraculous things but not when it comes to immigration issues....
