I'm just curious, did you choose the length of time to have the interview for your fiancé after your petition was approved? Quite a bit of time between there...

no i didnt, what happened was as i got closer i would contact the embassy and request more time. my wife had to finish her residency in the DR.

  2. i used rapid visa for the K1 and did the two year myself. what i found out was i thought someone else could do a better job of presenting my case. the truth is , if you can read and follow simple instructions you can do it. if you want to feel better you can pay Rapid Visa.from doing the filings both ways i know i wasted my money. i got a RFE anyway. i filled out the papers as directed by Rapid Visa.  they cannot guarantee that your case will not get a RFE.  They cannot guarantee that you will get a interview. all they can do is fill out the papers for you. i filled out the two year and didn't get a RFE. i followed the instructions as posted here. when i had a question i posted it here. all the help i needed is right here. when i file removal of conditions i will be right here.

Quick question. We have our scheduled interview on 2/14/17 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I completed the I-864. I just received my W2 for 2016 but I will not be able to file my tax returns yet before I arrive on feb 11 as I still have other pending documents that I need to receive to file. I have my tax returns from the other 2 years prior but those won't prove my income to show that I make about the poverty guidelines but this W2 that I received for 2016 will show that I meet or exceed the poverty guidelines. Will just the W2 for 2016 that I bring be enough even though I have not filed my returns yet for 2016? Is there anything else I should bring to accompany the I-864? I have current check stubs and a printout from Human Resources showing my annual income from 2016 that I was able to print from my job portal. My other question is this....My fiancé payed the 265.00 at Banco Popular for the DS-160 so that we can schedule the interview but I see this and am not sure if we also need to pay 325.00 in addition to the 265.00 that he payed already?

    • PAYMENT:  Unless the fee has been paid for you in the United States, you must be prepared to pay the non-refundable immigrant visa application processing fee of US$325.00 or the equivalent in Dominican pesos per applicant at the Consular Section.  Payment must be made entirely in one currency. We accept cash and international credit cards. (Note: K “Fiancée” Visa applicants will need pay the visa fee at Banco Popular before making appointments at the VAC and U.S. Embassy.)

take your papers with you. (w2 and tax returns) also take job letter. the most important thing is that you are there in the embassy. once you paid the fee for the ds-160 you dont need to pay another fee.  many blessings for your embassy trip.

  4. relax, everything will be fine. when you see him after waiting for customs, you will remember the reason you started this. take your time. it will be a adjustment for him and you and everyone around you. coming from the DR is a adjustment. my wife flew her first time also. make sure he has your phone number just in case customs tries to call you. (it happened to me and i missed the first call) . have faith. one phase is ending and another is beginning.

  5. my wife got her SSC before we got married, about one week after entering the country. we got married within three weeks and had her name changed on her SSC. i had to speak to a supervisor because the agent was new.as long as you have two weeks left before the I-94 expires, you can change the name. if not then you will have to wait until you have the GC. my wife has her EAD and now she can get a Driver license.i hope you had enough time left before the I-94 expired.

  6. that happened to me also. the only thing i did was update the address on the AOS. get the social security card now and then update with married name. my wife got her Social Security card within a week of arriving in the USA. now she can get a job without waiting for the social security card. also you can get her ID before the I-94 expires. (as long as there is at least two weeks remaining)

  7. the first filing for AOS was denied because i did not fill in the papers correctly, i refiled the correct papers and received an RFE. the form had changed from the time i filed until the time for review. had to refile the form for the affidavit of support. because of my situation i dont file taxes, the second RFE was for tax forms for the last three years. after the second RFE we had a infopass to speak to a agent, she assisted me in getting the hard copy so i could respond to the RFE (another story about the post office stating cannot deliver or forward the letter from USCIS) the agent who was working my case worked on Sunday (the day my AP was approved). now the wait for the green card..........

  8. congrats on the interview!

you must have her birth certificate (long form) and her police certificate.

she must also get her fingerprints done prior to the interview.

she must pay for the interview to get the appointment for the fingerprints.

we interviewed and got approved, we received the visa 11 days later.

you never know how long you are in AP after the visa is approved.

the important thing is you are at the interview.

we did fingerprints and police certificate in one day and medical and birth certificate another day.

let the medical know when her interview is because you have to pick up the medical papers before the interview.

you want to do medical at least 10 days before interview.

we were in the embassy for almost four hours.

    hope this helps.

  9. after the embassy receives the packet you have to create a DS-160 and follow the steps to complete paying for the visa. then schedule the interview on us travel docs. after the interview it took 14 days to receive the visa (if the visa is approved)

I recommend you go to the interview. we were in the embassy about five hours. good luck, and you are almost finished with the separation.
