That brings up a good point. Do you have to apply for the Social Security card if you have indicated in your K1 application that you would like the government to issue you one?
Congratulations! That must be so exciting after all of that hard work of getting him there. Now get off the computer celebrate and grab a few drinks tonight and have a good time.
Hmmm... I haven't made it that far yet (just got our NOA2 last week), so I wasn't aware that it asks you that on the K1 application. As far as I know, from reading other threads, everyone has to apply for their SSN at the local Social Security office, and it's recommended to do it 2 weeks after POE, but before the I-94 expires. I doubt that they just automatically issue you one, but maybe someone with more knowledge can shed some light?

Congratulations! Here's the guide for your next steps: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos
If you apply for advance parole fairly soon it would certainly be realistic to travel outside the country by next year. It usually only takes about 3 months to get it once applied for.

I don't know there are some Texas folks who got their case numbers in 16 straight days
Oh really? Sorry, I'm not sure why I thought none of the TSC cases had gotten to NVC yet...
-
Has anyone contacted TSC (or USCIS) to see what their excuse is for having transferred 0 cases to the NVC yet? My worry about calling in general is that since it says on my NOA2 that the case will be forwarded to the listed consulate (no consulate listed, btw) that they won't talk to me and tell me to contact the consulate instead. I'm not sure a response of "...but on Visa Journey I can see that Netherlands cases have to go through the NVC first" will be good enough to get some answers. Anyone else have that wording on their NOA2, but expect to be sent to NVC? Is there a chance I'm wrong about that?
-
Congratulations to Pacharya, and to LauraCF also (this means you're nearly there!)... Good luck to everyone else waiting. It's Monday and it looks like they've started the approvals earlier today, so that's something to look forward to!

From the OP's past posts, it looks like he is at near end of the K1 process already. Is that correct? Marriage license requirements are different in each state, so you'll have to look up what you need in Michigan to apply for a license. The requirements might even vary slightly from county to county. I'd google "marriage license _______ County, Michigan" to find out what you need. Where we plan to get married in PA, no blood test is required, but there is a 3-day waiting period. As far as the K1 goes, the only requirement is that you get legally married. The religious ceremony, reception, etc. are up to you. You just have to get married within 90 days of her entry into the country. Good luck!

No. We were one of the first approved from Texas on 6/13 and we are still waiting for the NVC to receive it. I know that cases with the same NOA2 as me from VSC and CSC already have their numbers. Not sure what is up with Texas.
Well that's discouraging. I saw somewhere on here that they send cases to NVC in batches from each service center... So maybe starting this week we'll see the TSC approved cases forwarded to NVC, a bunch at a time? Possibly? Maybe? *Naively hoping for the impossible*
-
I'm pretty appalled that there seemed to be no approvals last night. Maybe there is some kind of end of the month review that had to be done? Who knows. They better crank them out next week because seriously if they're not done by the holiday, that will be really pathetic.

Although I agree with the general sentiment above, I would mention that refundable and changeable tickets exist. There's also always travel insurance. I understand the desire to want to book tickets before they're sold out, if you're going to be traveling at a popular time. Just my two cents.

We got the hard copy of our NOA2 in the mail today! NOA2 date 6/25. It says our case has been forwarded to the listed consulate.... and then no consulate is listed anywhere on the notice. Thanks, USCIS :-P. I'm not worried about it, though, because according to what I can find in my country portal, Netherlands cases do have to clear the NVC first. I plan to start calling for the case number on Monday, and then maybe every other day until I get it. I'll keep everyone posted!
-
Heart-breaking not to see any approvals tonight... but, don't forget that the first TSC approval we saw come in was at like 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday, so it's not unheard of for them to send out the NOA emails and update the case status the next morning. I will keep my fingers crossed for you all.
-
Yay congratulations to all approved tonight! It warms my heart to see these approvals come in, and it makes me sad for those still waiting. One more day left of this week. Let's see them all finished!
-
I just noticed several of the people this forum are in New Jersey (or will be once you're in the U.S.). I'm in NYC. We should have a potluck or something after this is all over to celebrate our victory!
... and there should be booze. We will need it. :-P
-
Wow, my goodness I have missed a lot today
. Anyway, just a little message of support and encouragement before I go to dinner. I will be on here later tonight eagerly awaiting everyone's approvals. Looking forward to seeing you all on the NVC case # forum next

LovenHope, if your senator told you 14 days, and that time has passed, I'd call them again. Maybe you can ask what the basis for that timeline was, and see if they can make some more inquiries. Also, I think Angelina suggested infopass up there somewhere... You guys are all in my thoughts and I continue to hope every night that we see your approvals!
-
Congratulations to all those approved last night! For those still waiting, it's getting harder and harder to say "hang in there!" but somehow you just have to. Please don't lose hope!

Good evening y'all! I checked my status one hour ago and we got our approval today! Felt like a huge rock was lifted over my shoulders.. Now on to the next one. Still a lot more work to be done.
Good luck to all the filers who got transferred and still waiting for a decision. Don't forget to pray!
Filing date is December 24, 2012
NOA 2 is June 26, 2013
Last 5 digits are 54150
I didn't get an email or text message alert from USCIS, I just randomly checked to see if I'm one of the lucky USCIS lottery winner of that day.
As soon as I saw the decision a huge smile took over my face, even though I was at work I had to leave for 5 mins and call my fiancé to let her know we got approved. She had just woken up.
Congratulations!

Hi everybody! We got our NOA2 Approval notice by email and on USCIS website at 9:31 PM Eastern time, June 26.
NOA1 was Jan 22, so we got it in 5 months, 4 days. We were transferred in the first batch from VSC to TSC on May 30.
So, everyone that didn't get notice yet, just keep hanging in there. It's definitely coming soon. We originally thought ours wasn't coming until August, so I think the transfer was a good thing.
Congrats!!

Is there a thread or information anywhere for the average turn around time for someone who has be rerouted to another office? Obviously I have noticed there have been some cases rerouted several times - but i am trying to be optimistic and go with the general average.
My partner and I had our NOA1 dated Feb 20 and last week received the email that our petition had been sent to "the local office". Which sounds like it IS NOT local at all (he is in Boston) and rather just another main office!? We originally sent our paperwork to Texas.
I have to admit the whole process is emotionally draining and stressful on both of us. The lack of information provided or the incredibly vague nature of the information that is, is all so frustrating. I am visiting my fiancé in early September for 2 1/2 months and was hoping that our NOA2 would arrive before then so we can work on the next stage physically together and coordinate everything, such as paperwork, consulate visits etc by the time I return to Australia in November. I would like to hope after all these months of (what feels like) our paperwork just sitting in a tray to be processed finally gets somewhere soon in the coming weeks!
Your case was mostly likely transferred to the Texas Service Center. All K1 cases are normally processed at either the Vermont Service Center or the California Service Center. Everyone sends their case to the Dallas lockbox in Texas, but it is immediately forwarded to one of those two centers. Recently, a whole slew of cases were transferred from Vermont to the Texas Service Center (different from Texas lockbox where all the cases are sorted), in two batches. At the end of May, and then on about June 21st. Looks like you were in the second batch. You'll have to wait for the hard copy of the transfer notice to come in the mail to be sure, but that's almost certainly what happened. You can look on here and a couple other forums for people all in the same situation. I'm in the first batch (most people in this thread are), and I was approved last night.... so it took nearly a month after the transfer. I expect if you were in the June 21st transfer, a reasonable estimate would be some time in mid to late July, but please do not take that as advice. Just a rough idea. But hang in there! Texas seems to be pumping them out, so it won't be too much longer now.

OMG I thought that it would be giving my hopes up to think that we would get approved tonight since we got the response to our service request today BUT IT HAPPENED! I wish it wasn't 3 in the morning in Scotland so I could call my fiancé.

@Sek Thank for confirming!! I knew I had seen someone recently and I think Angelina, VazPayne and QueenofBlades all had a similar experiences. Of being told to wait 45 or 30 days... Same old response and then POOF Magic Showed up!!
You are so sweet!! And apparently we are similar in a few respects.. My Fiance and I agreed before we even filed the paperwork (to not discuss it (unles it's positive) or even really our wedding specifics because we only want the focus to be on us (not an event) and building our relationship because long distance adds it challenges.
So we chose to go forward as if there was no paperwork and we are just waiting for the right time for him to move here.. We go about our daily lives knowing that we will be together VERY soon. Share stories, laughs, crack on each other. Prepare for our trips.. lol We both have pics of each other posted everywhere in our respective homes so that as we would when we are together we "See" each other.. On/By the couch, in the bathroom mirror, kitchen... bedside. lol
Sometimes I even holler down the hall telling him something... as if he is there.. like when we are together.. Just so I get to remember what that is like.. . Oh! and speakerphone helps!! We put each other on speaker phone and do stuff around the house so it's "like" when we are together!!
Shutting up now.. lol
@Strictly4tehLuv - Awwwww thanks!!! I just was expressing from my heart what helps me and works for me... Glad I could help or inspire you!! That makes me smile! I love to be of service to others. Big HUg!! Thanks to you for sharing that!
@ACAWAN.. glad you found your answer!
Ong! How sweet you are!!
Ive been thinking this way also and me and my baby agreed on the same things, same pact!!
I do the same things you do around the house!! Weve met each other almost 5 years ago while he was workong in spain... But it was on and off as fas as distance because he was going back to the states to spend summer, sone christmas... So im trained as far as distance relationships!! (and tired of them also, LOL)
but yeah, new technologies helped a lot!!! Wharsapp, and since two years ago im in love with iphone facetime!
We call each other and just leaving the phone in the table we act like we are together just watchig tv... Etc...
Well, i just wanted to share a lil bit how i leave this situation, posibly make somebody laugh and forget about this bs with my boring love history!
At least you guys know ehat im talkig about! My friends just dont get what it is!!! Lol!
Lots of hugs!!!!
You guys are great
. I feel like this is a big family, you're all so supportive! I totally do those little things to make myself feel like we're together... Skype while we watch videos together, or do household stuff. Just to feel like he's near. It's the little things you miss, isn't it? I get jealous of people doing dumb stuff like grocery shopping together, haha. Hugs to you both also, and I'm really hoping tonight's your night!
Oh, also, I just got that Ombudsman response too! They have no idea what's going on over there. It says to wait 60 days, blah blah blah, but I already got approved. Useless.

I dont want my question to be overlooked by the "drama" here...........has anyone gotten the direct Texas service center email?????
What do you mean by that? You can't email the service centers directly. That's why people have to have their congressmen do it for them.
EDIT:
Ok, I have to eat crow. Apparently you can...
Step 2: If more than 15 days have passed since you contacted the NCSC and the issue has not been resolved or explained you can email the proper USCIS Service Center to check the status of your case.
-California Service Center: csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov
-Vermont Service Center: vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov
-Nebraska Service Center: ncscfollowup.nsc@dhs.gov
-Texas Service Center: tsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

Guys! Don't be discouraged by that response. It means NOTHING. It is a form response. After I got my approval last night, I went and checked my mail and there was a letter from my local representatives's office stating that same exact 45-day bs, and I had already been approved! The truth of the matter is that you will all be approved any day now, and there is no way to tell which day. Not even my representative knew that I was about to be approved! Also, Enigma's right that focusing on the despair is dangerous to your relationship. It's funny... my fiance and I rarely talk about the visa process until something good happens, because it just drains all the life from our conversations, which are so precious as it is, with the time difference and us both having full-time committments. It will make it all the sweeter when you get approved.

I can imagine
. Try to stay strong, although I know that probably seems impossible right now. Love will win out in the end, I'm sure.
I-134 - How to fill out form for Petitioner of insufficient income?
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
Hello fellow Netherlands VJer!
Am I correct that you only just sent off your I-129F at the end of June? I'd advise against assembling the entire I-134 too soon, as it's likely that your fiance's interview will be next year, and the consulate will want to see more recent information. Is it possible that by that point you'd have sufficient income? Because that would also change things quite a bit in filling out the form.
