  3. Hey, can you please send me the link of the final letter including all the email addresses ?

    Thank you!

This is the final version of "my letter":
The letter edited by BOS_LHR is still on its original URL (this one has all the email and fax numbers):
    Pick anyone.
  4. To all,

VJ Moderation has received complaints about the multiple postings in the I-130 monthly filers threads about this letter writing campaign. While your goal is laudable and it's certainly understandable that you want as many people as possible, posting about it in multiple threads can be considered spamming which is a TOS violation. While we believe it is not your intent to spam, other members who choose not to be a part of your campaign may not see it that way, hence the complaints.

Going forward, limit discussion about any letter writing campaign to one thread, you may bump the one thread to the front as often as you wish. If the regular participants of the "USC Green Card Petitioners' Committee" thread are amenable, letter writing campaigns can be discussed there as well.

Multiple postings across monthly I-130 filers threads will be removed. If a complaint is received about such posts, the poster could be subjected to Administrative Action.

    Your cooperation is appreciated.

    Ryan H

    VJ Moderation

Ryan, I wish I could say "sorry from all of us who try to make a difference", but in this case I am speechless. Just wondering if those who complained, want any benefit out of this campaign; does not sound like it.

  5. Some useful email addresses and fax number for Bob Goodlatte:

    1. talk2bob@mail.house.gov

    2. Bob.Goodlatte@mail.house.gov

    Fax (Roanoke office): (540) 857-2675

Bob's chief of Staff Pete Larkin's email: pete.larkin@mail.house.gov

    In addition to above:

Send email to following and request them to forward your email to Mr. Goodlatte:

    Carrie Meadows: Carrie.meadows@mail.house.gov

    Kathryn Rexrode: KathrynRexrode@mail.house.gov

    John Manning: john.manning@mail.house.gov

    Goodluck

  6. Kaylara: You have a good point, but if we wait till 20th, then we better wait till Jan-7-2014; because most people [recipients of our letter] will most likely be on vacation during the last 2 weeks of December.

    So we have 2 options:

A: send letter on Wednesday, 12/11; OR

B: Send letter on Tuesday, 1/7/2014

I am leaning towards 1/7/2014 - becasue by then we have more evidence on the performance of USCIS.

  7. I have prepared the final version of "my letter":

The letter edited by BOS_LHR is still on its original URL:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/11ymKxccFkwNCS782HQTh7RiV-WryCfEd0GiQXzc_QEk/edit

Please get ready and reach out to your friends and family to support us again on Tue, 12/10. I believe in the power of people - we can make a difference.

Thanks to all of you for your research and hard work for this cause.

  8. I've asked in the NVC thread, I haven't been approved yet, but I was wondering if anybody here knew. Is proof of income before or after taxes?

I just lost my job, and I just have my part time now sad.png

Proof of income also comes from the previous 2/3 years 1040s, and not only the current job.

You can show them your salary before the taxes - send them original/copy of pay stubs of your current job; and it does not hurt if you write a letter [to NVC] explaining your current job situation.

I pray that you find a good job and everything with NVC goes smooth.

    Goodluck.

  9. I think the processing stats that blueberrypancake found for DACA versus I-130 would be great in here. Also some emphasis in the processing timeframe graphic to call attention to the date for I-130, because it's buried underneath a huge amount of I-129 forms and my eye is drawn naturally to the yellow I-129F lines. It's a lot of graphic for just the one line relevant to us, basically. A footnote list for the sources we're citing is probably a good idea again, even though the letter calls out pages on USCIS itself. Let's keep it consistent and thorough.

The letter ought to be really clear about how it defines the processing time goal, because frankly, I don't know what USCIS itself means by it. Does USCIS' current processing time refer to petitions filed at that time? That is to say, do they mean that petitions filed as of September 30, 2013 will take 7.4 months to adjudicate? If so, demanding a 5 month processing goal isn't the clearest way to help the current backlog, as it would apply to the folks filing after us.

I like calling them out on the inconsistency between their average processing time and their current processing date, but why not give them a specific call to action there? Point out the lack of transparency in the agency and request a reconciliation between their data so that we petitioners can set expectations accordingly. Same thing with the assertion about DACA; the claim is made with no follow-up. In addition to saying "look at this correlation, this is why the backlog exists," perhaps we can make a statement requesting that processing rates be equalized so that USCs and their immediate relatives are no longer suffering disproportionately. That would be a good spot to tie in the stats linked above.

    Thoughts? Comments?

Great job naam_2013, thanks for getting this rolling once again and giving us a rallying point!

Thank you for starting this, it's a good effort and I'm definitely up for getting behind this. There are some minor adjustments and additions to the wording to be made but I like the general tone of the letter. I really like the top graph as it shows the relationship between the amount of pending petitions and how it relates to DACA. We have the stat's for how few I-130's were adjudicated and how many DACA applications were rushed through in this period so lets use them along with the graph. It makes for truly shocking reading. I also like the comment about the misleading processing timelines as like most people on here I find it inherently frustrating that USCIS is using them as a get out clause.

I think we should make a point of explaining the pain that we are suffering due to the lack of information given by USCIS. We can make better information one of our requests, it's not like it will cost them anything and it should be the minimum they are prepared to do! Not only are their actions making us wait to be with our families, we can't even plan anything to do with our lives together because USCIS won't keep it's stakeholders up to date.

Thanks for the feedback and joining this campaign.

    1. If anyone thinks that the intent of letter is DACA vs. legal immigration - it is not; it is about the policies of the people in Oval office. I am not a gatekeeper of illegals in the US, but if the policies of administration towards the illegals (or towards any other matter) impact me/my family than I am going to voice my concern.

    2. I am flexible in tweaking the letter, we just need to keep it focused on 1 issue and keep it short - so please modify the letter as you like and we will all come to an agreement. The 2nd letter should not have the same matter [for the most part] as the 1st one but it should point to the same issue; we are just giving this a different spin.

The Issue: Spouses not able to live together due to delay/backlog of I-130 at USCIS.

Reasons: Administration's policies, administration's lack of interest, administration's lack of planning, etc. The point is that "the blame is on administration".

I want to keep the letter to 1 page, but due to the graphs, it is not possible, and we do not want to put an eye-chart.

So BOS_LHR, Hotter Otter and others, please tweak the letter and let's finalize it by 12/8.

Thanks again for the feedback and getting on board

P.S. I would like the person who sent me the request to get the "edit" rights on the letter on my Google docs, to send me a PM on VJ.
