  1. What a horrid 4th July, the hotel sold our suite with the view of the Hudson to someone else as the moved the fireworks onto the hudson first time in years they had done this. So they just gave our room which we have every year away!

anyhows to anwser your questions Picaraz, mums A # was on the documentation she gave to the officer (I had already made a note of this) but anyway they didn't write the A# in her passport, they just took her to a room did a fingerprint took the brown envelope then she was free to leave, I asked the officer what happens now he said she will get her GC shortly.

The Welcome to America letter (os155A) arrived 23 days after (inclusive of weekend days). The letter says she will hear something in 30 days. She still hasn't received her SSN I will take her for that (thats the easy bit)

    Hope this helps

    Julie

  2. I was thinking of you Tay and the questions your parents must be asking as my mum is still asking questions!

She still hasn't got her SSN yet I will give it another week and then go down to the office and apply in person, somehow I don't think it will come automatic like stated on the form.

The reciept letter os551 says we will hear in 30 days, presumably that will be the green card.

Also tell your mum and dad when they get the visa and the "brown envelope" they also receive a manual about how things work here like social security etc. ( I never got one of them when I came thru it all!)

Good luck Tay for your parents and happy 4th,,,my first as a usa citizen!

  3. Mum recieved here welcome to america notice today it says that her case has been moved to TEXAS and the application is now a OS155A application and they will let her know within 30 day? not even sure what thats all about?

I presumed she would just receiv a green card, but this isn't the case. The letter also states that they received the package mailed from her POE (they received the brown envelope that you have to bring in)

  4. I sponsered my mother to come and live in the USA. She has had her interview and entered the USA, given the officer the brown envelope and we were told a GC would be on the way. Today we received a notice 0S155A this is a Welcome letter and says that her case is being dealt with and we will be informed withing 30 days. It says you can check the Texas service centre but theres no case of os155a on there to check there processing. Any clues what this is? Also no social security number has showed up, do they still give them out at the local offices?

    thanks in advance

  5. Just a update here, Mum is now here with me in the USA. The POE was pretty simple she handed over her brown envelope and was taken for secondary interviewing, where they opened the envelope took her to another room and took a black in index finger print.

I asked will she just get a green card in the mail now, to which the anwser is yes. Does anyone have any clues where you can see how long this takes? I presume it will now go to Newark(I live in Jersey) but when I checked there processing times im not sure which it would be would have thought I-551 but not mention of that!

    Any clues anyone?

  6. After mum didn't get her visa I came back to the states alone, I asked at the POE which forms she should fill out that she was on a immigrant visa and I had sponsered her and she was pending the visa at the london embassy, the officer told me that she will have to fill out a white form I-94 when she enters the united states, I said she will have a visa in her passport to which the officer said, yes but she still has to fill out a I-94

  7. I had the same thing, Monday 18th May went for the interview, was told that husband should have signed the household member form and he hadn't (why didn't the NVC point this out??) got blue form, paid a rook of money to have document expresed from the USA to my self only to be told by the couriers that they couldn't collect until Thursday 21st May! Thursday came and went when I called the couriers they told me they had made a mistake and they had sent the secure envelope to wrong place, so it was collected Friday 22nd May, (I had paid additional express service too which I have yet to have refunded) called up the secure mail today, they told me the envelope had only just arrived today at the Embassy, I was told from the officer who approved my mother for IV that she was sucessful and they would send the visa in 4-5 days, so after it taking 4-5 days to actually get to the embassy who knows?

  8. My mother will be expecting her visa in her passport soon, I sponsered her as I am now a citizen. When she comes on the plane which form was it you fill out, I really can't remember which it was when I did it. I know its not the green one which is the Visa Waiver as she will have the one time visa in her passport. (I-94W) is it the white form the (I-94)?

  9. After several phone calls I got thru to another number they took my credit card to start with and deducted $16.00 (all other numbers are blocked as Im calling from the USA) they gave me a code and told me what to write. Thnks for the info
