My wife and I traveled to the Philippines this past November. She traveled with her expired green card and extension letter. We encountered NO problems during the trip. Philippine immigration and Japanese immigration agents had no issues with the extension letter. We traveled United airlines passing through Tokyo to and from Manila. Suggest you travel with the original extension letter. We always travel with our marriage certificate but have never been asked for it. Better safe than sorry. You do not need to file anything before departing the US. Relax and enjoy your trip home.

The only other suggestion I would have to what has already been posted here is to make sure you take the original I-797 letter and not a copy.

Call or go by the post office to see if it has left the facility yet. If not, someone there may be able to locate it and hold it for you to pick up.

Report of Marriage between Filipinos or a Filipino and a Foreign National
The marriage of a Filipino should be reported to and registered with the Philippine National Statistics Office through the Embassy/Consulate General having jurisdiction over the locality where the event took place. Please check the Consulate Finder or the Consulates Link for the states covered by the Embassy/Consulates General in the U.S.
If your marriage took place in Guam, you should file your report of marriage with the Philippine Consulate General in Guam. You can find the information by visiting their website at.......philippinesguam.org
Once you have mailed them the requirements they will register your marriage and mail you your copy of the report of marriage for your personal files. Or if you guys live in Guam, you could even prepare the report of marriage documents and hand-carry the package to the Philippine Consulate there in Agana. Pretty easy and simple process. VSC - May filer here.
Wife rcv'd I-797, Notice of Action today 4/28/2017. Approved with no interview! USCIS has not updated her online case status yet. Letter states she should rcv her Permanent Resident Card within 60 days.
Date of Decision: 04/23/2017, which was a Sunday. Could this mean that VSC is working weekends now or have they always worked 7-days a week?

Perritonegro sounds as though Sagot may be on to something. If I were you I would continue checking the website every day for April appointment openings. The American Citizen Services may not have opened April appointment times/dates yet. From the looks of appointment slots still open for the rest of March, I can't imagine the entire month of April being booked solid at this point. I would guess they would be opening April appointments soon. American Services contact number is listed on the website. If those April slots don't open up by the end of this month, I would give them a call. Good luck.

According to the U.S. Embassy Manila webstie, ph.usembassy.gov. The U.S. Citizen Services will handle routine walk-in services from 7:30 AM - 12:00 noon daily. They also have an office in Cebu (if this location works best for you). The Consulat Agency in Cebu city also offers routine walk-in sevices @ the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City ground floor from 8:00 Am - 10:30 AM on Mon-Tue-Thur-Friday. I am not certain on the fee but believe it is around $50.00 usd or Philippine peso equivalent. Unless the rules have changed your fiancee does not have to be present for you to get this done. I had mine done at a U.S. Embassy outreach visit in Angeles City back in 2012. Fiancee was not with me. Definetely go the walk-in route if you are unable to secure an online appointment. Explain your situation to them upon arrival and you should have no problem getting that done. Good luck.

that should read 1-year parameter set by the USCIS in the extension letter. Also agree with rjm's response, make sure you take the original extension letter not a copy and don't forget to take the expired green card.

My wife's extension letter is good until 6 August 2017.
Your extension letter doesn't expire until one month after your return to the US. Your travel dates are within the 1-year parmeters set forth by USCIS in that extension letter; so in my opinion you will have no issues with immigration when returning to the US.

Wife and I took a trip to the Philippines in November/December 2016. Left the Philippines 15 December heading back to US. Wife traveled with expired green card/extension letter/marriage certificate. We encountered no issues upon leaving Manila/traveling through Japan/and through Houston, Texas. We flew United and Japan Airlines. Smooth sailing for us. Enjoy your trip.

My wife and I just returned to the US from the Philippines. She traveled with expired green card and extension letter. Our travels took us Houston-Tokyo-Manila with return being the same route. She experienced no problems with airline and none with Philippine immigration when we departed Manila. Also experienced no problems in Tokyo and none in Houston when returning.
Always a good idea to travel with a copy of your marriage certificate as well, but FYI, my wife wasn't asked to present the marriage certificate, although we did have a copy with us.

We have never visited Mexico, so can not give you any advice about Mexico specifically; however, my wife and I flew back to the Philippines last year after she received her 2-year conditional green card that had her married name.
Her Philippine passport had her maiden name.
We took along a copy of our marriage certificate as well. She encountered no problems whatsoever with entering and exiting the United States or the Philippines.
Hopefully someone that has traveled to Mexico can share their experiences with you.

I thought the terminal fee was supposed to be included in your ticket but I left there earlier this year (May 2015) and had to pay the 750 pesos. I would recommend you have that 750 pesos available just in case.

Believe terminal fee is 750 pesos and travel tax is 1,620 pesos.
