  1. I got a letter in the mail from Homeland Security saying that I was selected as not having to attend an interview, which is good i guess. But, It also said that there was a 6 month delay from today on getting a green card...anyone else got a letter like this? Washington, D.C. is my local office

Those like yourself who filed under the K-1 visa have a chance of not needing an interview and you just wait for them to issue the green card.

This particular thread deals with people who filed for AOS but not via the K-1 so we all are required to attend an interview.

    Thank you!

We just moved and filed the change of address (which hasn't been fully processed yet) so our letter will be going to our old address. We know the person who lives there but for good measure we're going to just go by and check the mail every day as well just to make sure. Hopefully we get it by Saturday!

Congrats on getting your interview date Erica :)

  2. Ok. Please, let us know how this goes tomorrow.

Sorry for the late update! In short, the IO who interviewed me was not at work the day we went for my Infopass :( But the receptionist on his floor was really nice. She took a copy of the approved I-130 and had me write out a detailed letter on a Case Status review form. She promised to submit both items to the IO the next day. I intend to book another Infopass for sometime in July and request to specifically speak with a supervisor about this. This is ridiculous. They now have an approved I-130...they really don't need the file anymore!

Tomorrow I will have my husband call USCIS and the State Department to get the I-130 file transferred to the NYC field where it should have gone in the first place! I also will contact Senator Gillibrand's office as I had already sent in our complaint to them the week that I had my interview at their request. They said it would take 4-8 weeks before they could act on my file. Well I need to light a fire under them at this point and see if they can do something about this now.

  3. We had our interview on May 20. It was easy and went very well. The interviewer said that she has everything that she needs from us (she didn't even want to look at our wedding photos), but she is just missing the medical paperwork that hadn't been transferred from customs to her office (it was collected when my husband entered the country). She said the transfer usually takes a week. It's been two weeks now and our status has not changed. I called the USCIS number and they said they do not have any information regarding what is happening in the local offices and that I need to make an appointment with the local office in order to ask any questions about the status of our case.

    Any advice?

My advice is that you need to get an Infopass appointment asap. That's the only way you'll be able to get more info on what's happening with your file at the local office where you had your interview. Good luck!

  4. Hello there,

I am in the same boat. My interview date was 05/22. My interview was was at the baltimore office. I got there about 30 minutes before the scheduled time. The IO called us in 15 minutes before the scheduled time. We swore the oath and the interview began with showing him our documents and pictures taken over 3+ years as he asked what we like to do. We answered that and he asked my spouse's name and DOB which I also answered. He then asked the standard questions about espionage, communism...after which he said I was approved and I would get the card in the mail in about 3 months but typically within 2 - 3 weeks. He said he would approve it the next day or last Tuesday (05/27). I haven't heard anything since. No website update, emails or text. I am a little antsy at the moment. The only reason I can think of for this delay is the typo in my I-485 form. One of the dates on the form should have been 07/20 but I had 07/02 and he himself said he knew it was a mistake and it wasn't a big deal. He made a copy of my passport before we left. He didn't stamp my passport or give me any letter. He also didn't tell me the ROC procedures.

Overall, he was friendly and we even talked about basketball. I just want this to be over so I can move on.

Still waiting after my interview as well which was May 19th. My I-130 was finally approved last week but today I got an e-mail that they shipped the I-130 to NVC...the National Visa Center...as if they think I am still in Canada waiting to get an interview at the embassy! USCIS seriously has their wires crossed in my case.

So I have an Infopass appointment at Federal Plaza this Wednesday to see how this will get resolved. At least I have the formal notice of approval of the I-130 to show them.

I hope that will be enough to convince them to just approve my I-485 without any more waiting :(

  5. Hi fellow Feb filers,

Its been a while since I have been on this website. Good to see that many of you have got your green card. I am still waiting for an interview. The Denver office seems to be way behind others. My case went on interview scheduling on March 19th and its still on that. Fortunately the EAD has helped a lot to get the other things going. I am going to change apartments soon so do i just change my address online with USCIS or do i have to send in any forms. Anyone who has done it please advise....

Best of luck to everyone who is waiting for their interviews.

I just submitted an address change and I did it online with USCIS. I Hope you get your interview scheduled soon!

  6. If it was me, I probably would wait until I got the required court documents before filing the AOS to avoid any RFE's and not slow down the process.

But you could file the AOS and you may not get any RFE and instead submit the original court documents at the interview. Then the IO would likely keep your AOS pending until the documents are reviewed.

As you said, definitely get a second opinion with regard to your situation.

  7. hi did u hear anything yet

We put in a service request on the I-130 the same day of the interview and today we were notified by Nebraska via e-mail that the file had been requested and sent to a supervisor for review. I already set up an Infopass for June 4th to follow-up on this. I am going to be behind them until they get the I-130 transferred and the NYC office approves my pending AOS.

  8. my interview was today at federal plaza was called at exactly 1pm by 117 is was downstairs in the lobby so my case is being held for review.

interview was 10 mins she ask to see original marriage certificate and childrens birth certificate i was only ask what is my name date.of.birth phone number, if i work ,some of the yes or no question and if my husband works and what does he does if we have children and their ages. that was it she gave me a paper saying my case is held for review and they dont need any thing further and a final decision will be mailed to me they didnt even take any of the documents only my i94 since everything is on file so im just waitin now arghhh!!

So frustrating...so close to the finish line and we still have to wait! Stay positive and I hope that we get approved soon!

  9. Congratulations on your same day approval :)

Thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you to VisaJourney.com. This website was so helpful to me and my husband throughout the AOS process. This website has accurate information and I found answers to so many of our questions. We did not use an attorney to prepare the applications (I-485, I-130, I-864, I-765). We followed the guides from this site. Our interview lasted about 45 minutes. We had a couple of red flags and I thought the officer would review our case for a couple of months and then make a decision. We did consult with an attorney and were told not to expect an approval on the day of the interview. The attorney advised us that we could wait up to 90 days.

The officer told us that we had sufficient evidence (I had tons of evidence) for an approval and I was so happy inside when I heard the loud thump of the approval stamp on our AOS application.

Again thank you VisaJourney. This site is so wonderful and helpful for people with straight forward cases and people with red flags like ours.

Our case status has been changed on the USCIS website to Card Production.

Send an email to me if you would like tips on what marriage evidence to submit.

  10. I also had my interview at 26 Federal Plaza this morning.

Our appt was at 9:30 a.m. and we arrived on time but we were only called after 11:15 a.m. There were a lot of people!

Our interview started with a major snag and we knew it would happen and came prepared. We had applied for the I-130 since July 2013 and it was supposed to have been transferred from Nebraska service centre to the NY office to match up with our I-485 AND we had clearly stated that it needed to be transferred on our AOS cover letter and provided the copy of the I-130 transfer notice...yeah...that so didn't happen... :protest:

The I-130 is still sitting in Nebraska folks...since Sept 2013! Fortunately we had carried a complete copy of the I-130, with fresh signatures and passport pictures which allowed me to actually get through the interview. The IO couldn't believe that I had gotten scheduled for the interview without the I-130 not already in the file. He reviewed the I-130 copy we provided and accepted that as being complete. He then reviewed the I-485 yes/no questions, asked me to confirm my current address and the date we got married. That was it! He didn't ask to see any additional bona fide evidence (as we had front-loaded the I-130) or see our wedding album. He looked pretty stern at first glance but he was really nice to both my husband and I and laughed with us several times.

He said his supervisor wanted the original I-130 transferred from Nebraska before they can approve the AOS and he wrote in my passport that my AOS is pending. He said that he hopes that they transfer the I-130 from NSC asap but we all know that this could potentially take weeks :(

So even though the interview went really well and he was pretty much ready to approve me, it is still in pending status for the moment thanks to the I-130 fiasco!

  11. Hello guys,

I'm pretty new here, but I have been reading your posts. I'm in the Testing and Interview stage since April 7th, I filed my documents at the end of February, and since April 7th I haven't heard anything from them. My local office is on Long Island-Holtsville. Did anyone have experience with that office? I know this long wait is not that usual, so what are you guys suggesting me to do? Is there anyway to chech where my office is at my applications ( doing Decembers,Januarys etc).

This long wait for the interview date is so stressful.

    Thanks

    HI sdrasko,

As you already know the process and time for interview scheduling is all over the map! Most offices seem to moving at a fairly quick pace and you have some who are moving slower than a turtle. You check the status of your office via this link but take the data they reflect with a grain of salt.

We all know it's stressful but just hang in there :)

  12. Been reading this forum since I applied but scared to get it jinxed so I'm not posting anything. Just a little superstitious. But now sharing you our story.

Finally had our interview this morning at around 9AM but our scheduled time was 8:15AM. Quite a lot of applicants so we had to wait.

We arrived at around 7:40AM but had to wait for our lawyer. A friendly lady officer called us, had to swear then asked us a few questions like

how my husband and I met, how many were at our wedding, all the yes or no questions on the application, our information like full name, date of birth,

and if those were our signatures. Asked us if we have other evidences for bonafide marriage, so we gave her copies of our bank statements,

engagement ring receipts, show/ travel tickets, letters and pictures. Then she gave us a copy of the USCIS business card and explained to us about the green card,

what phone # to call etc. That's when the time I was wondering if we were approved. Then she told us that she was approving our case, gave us the interview results

which showed "Congratulations! Your I-130/ I-485 applications has been recommended for approval. Within the next few weeks upon approval, the Service will be sending

you an approval notice followed by your legal permanent residence card." So and so forth. She aslo explained that she's giving me a 10 year GC since we were

married for almost 3 years already.

Everything was so precious today. Waited for 4 years for this. We feel blessed (L)
