My husband's interview in London was today and he's been approved! We were SO WORRIED because his flight from Scotland was delayed, then he was stuck on a bus in traffic. We phoned the embassy to say he'd be late, but they basically said if he's over half an hour late, it would be at their discretion whether they rescheduled him. He got there exactly half an hour late, but they saw him anyway and all was well!

They accepted the previous edition of the I-864 too, which I'm so relieved about.
From the day we mailed I-130 to interview was 141 days, just under five months. (By the time we actually move, it should have been approximately five and a half months.) Hurray for DCF!

That's a great question. My thinking is that you should probably contact the port in Ft. Lauderdale and ask someone that works there. I would ask more than one person too. You could always get a person that just wants to get you off the phone. Good luck!

Yes of course you can come by boat. They have immigration controls for people coming on boats. What a huge loophole it would be if they didn't!

...now I'm looking at cruises. What an amazing way to enter the country for a new life. Not super convenient for San Francisco, though.

That would be amazing. Anyway - do let the thread know when you call them - the info might come in handy for others.

I came on a cruise ship to the U.S. in January using my K1 visa. I know it is hard to find information on people who have immigrated by cruise ship (I did a lot of research before my cruise), so I thought I'd comment even though I did not arrive in Fort Lauderdale, but at New York Seaport.
I have written a POE review in my timeline, if you'd like to check it out: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=126144 (at the end of the page).
I had written to CBP prior to booking the cruise and asked them about the procedure when entering by ship, and they replied that there would be no problems and that my visa would be processed at the first port that I was entering in the U.S. My husband (then-fiancé) also called immigration at the New York seaport, and they too assured us that everything would be alright. Maybe that is one thing that you could do, call immigration in Fort Lauderdale, just to make sure and for your peace of mind.
There are at least two other members on here who have also immigrated by cruise ship, broma25 and EmigratingSwede. From what I have read from other members, the only problem that some ran into were that a few immigration officers were not proficient with immigrant visas and had to consult their manuals or supervisors. I personally did not have any problems whatsoever, and my visa was processed very efficiently and professionally.
I can only recommend going by cruise ship. It is such an incredible and unforgettable experience! Good luck!
