You should get an automatic response within 24 hours saying they received your documents and to give them 20 days to review the documents. I have had to call the NVC to make sure that the documents were reviewed and approved. Not sure they give you an approval of the documents individually or just an overall Case Complete....I'm still waiting for this. I received a verbal approval of my IV documents when I called to inquire about the checklist I received for the AOS.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info.
Very odd that I never got any response other than the typical "thanks for the email" email. I will call tomorrow and find out whats going on. I have send two separate files and nothing on both.

Hi Guys,
Submitted my DS-260 over 2 weeks ago and had to resend the documents this past Sunday. Everything was done electronically, as I opted in to EP. Can anyone tell me if the NVC notifies you of the receipt of all of your applications and documents? I have not heard anything from them yet.
TY in advance.

Mine took 8 days.
Does it make a big difference in the processing time of your documents?

How long is it typically taking for approval for EP these days?

Question....
Based on the DHS website, it says that the photos are to be submitted with your application. Since Canada does the online version of the forms, are we supposed to email a PDF of the pictures or snail mail them? Everything else seems to be email.
-
Going to be submitting both tomorrow and want to know if I should be filing by email or online (electronic) to quicken the process????

Do any Canadian filers know if the medical and interview can be done in Montreal during the same week?

As long as you remember to include them and they are the appropriate kind of assets. Some aren't acceptable. Straight cash in the bank is obviously best and always accepted. But you cannot use the house you're living in and 401k are rarely acceptable because they have so many issues with liquidation. Even with assets you have to have minimum 3x the difference between income and assets. Having just under 60k in the bank or liquidable assets is often a lot harder for people to have than a $10/hr job to make the minimum for 2 people. People who make $10/hr or less aren't likely to have the different in cash either unless they're retired or do a lot of investment type things.
difference not different***
So, as another scenario, what if a couple has say $200,000 cash and limited income? I had this question posed to me last week.

I think a few other things are taken into consideration. Remember, the consulate has the final say even if your documents make it past NVC as being acceptable, the consulate could require you to get a joint sponsor. While they look at the current year's income, nothing says more about not having the potential to be a public charge as longevity in a job.
As dwheels76 suggested, write a letter about why there's been a disparity in income between the years and make sure that there's a letter of employment from the employer stating the hire date and the current rate of pay.
Lets all keep in mind that they look at total assets too if income does not qualify properly.

Tax return TRANSCRIPTS are what she needs, ordered from IRS. If she's only just filed they may take some time to get into the system there, though. Once they're there, when you order, they take only a week or so to come in the mail, and they will only send them to the address they have on file for her.
Is it a tax return transcript or tax account transcript that I want?

Does your wife not have enough residency to pass her citizenship on automatically to your daughter?
http://toronto.usconsulate.gov/service/consular-report-of-birth-abroad.html
Where are you going to be living while you wait for the visa? That lease could possibly show proof of ties.
No, my wife has never resided in the US, so my daughter has to go through the whole process too.
We will be living with my parents so they can assist with childcare until we have visa's in hand. My wife will be travelling back every few weeks to visit.
-
Just to clarify, my daughter is actually our daughter.
The issue is that my wife cannot show strong ties to Canada as she is leasing a condo for school purposes and will be living in the US as of July. Our daughter and I will be joining her permanently once our visas are approved and in hand.
This trip is business for me, with a couple of days spent with them at the end of the trip, at which time I will be coming back with my daughter until immigration process is complete. We will have return tickets on us.

My wife (USC living abroad) recently filed 3 years tax returns to the IRS under the voluntary disclosure program. Would copies of the returns be sufficient proof of taxes up to date? According to her US tax accountant, W2's are not issued unless taxes are owing.

Ive traveled to the US 4 times (2 weeks, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 7 weeks) to see my wife since my I-130 application was sent in January, its nothing at all to worry about, just a normal visit. They do not know at the entry point that you have an application in progress, don't think there's going to be a big red screen flashes up or anything like that, there isn't, as far as they know you are just a regular visitor, and you are. Answer their questions, nothing more, don't say and tell them things they don't ask, don't have a stack of papers in your hand ready to give them, just keep them away and bring them out if asked for anything.
Would this not be withholding pertinent information from the IO? I've gone across a number of times on business too, but I always disclose the fact that I am in the immigration process, but that the trip I am going on now is for business purposes only (which is the case).

Interesting scenario....
My wife (USC) petitioned for myself and my daughter and we have now received our NOA2 and NVC has received our file. We all currently live in Canada.
I will be heading to LA on business in a few weeks for about 7 days, and my wife will be coming down with my daughter (who also has file at NVC) while I am still there. She's going to be visiting friends and family as well as signing a lease for the beginning of Aug for herself and eventually my daughter and I and then heading back with her.
My question is.... Will the officers at the border be ok with my daughter travelling on a visitors visa with my wife? Remember, it will show that I am also down as well.
I am wondering how hard they are in USC parents with 2 year old kids crossing over.

All very good info.
No lawyer it is....
Now I just need a way to expedite the process a bit.

Hey guys,
My case just got to NVC and I should have a case number tomorrow. My question is with respect to using a lawyer for the visa application and upcoming items. It seems pretty straightforward, but I wanted to get some opinions.
Lawyer or no lawyer?

Wow, this is some great info. Thank you all for clarifying.
The child and mother both were born and live in Canada. Mothers USC was granted when she was young by her USC parent and she has never resided in the US. This is why the petition was needed for her.
I am actually quite surprised that the child needs to attend the interview considering she is 2 and will likely not answer questions. Would make more sense for the parent to supply documents needed for her on her behalf, but I guess that's just how it goes.
I will check out the Canada forum for more info.

My 2 year old daughter has an approved I-130, with her mother being the petitioner. As children do not have to attend interviews or obtain police certificates, can anyone shed some light on how her visa is processed? Someone told me that all she needs is the I-130 approval and she can obtain her PR card at the local consulate here in Toronto Canada.
Anyone know?

Any march filers get Approved.
my case still not sowing online any other have same problem. its been about 79 days.....
I was approved a few days ago.
March 8th filing.

You don't have to disclose it up front. You're traveling on business and have a return ticket right? If they ask why so many crossings say you're in the process of immigrating, explain what stage you're on and be prepared to show proof of ties. Otherwise since it's really not pertinent to this trip so it's not like you have to volunteer the information as soon as you walk up. Just be honest about what you're doing and answer questions truthfully.
Yes, I have a return ticket, along with property tax bill for my home in Toronto, business cards from the businesses I own, etc. I just was a bit iffy about not saying anything in case it shows up on their screen and it looks like I am withholding information from them.

Hi All,
I am waiting for my case to go to the NVC for processing and I am heading down to the US for a few days on business.
My question is, do I need to disclose the approved I-130 to immigration officers even though I am entering as a visitor and have no intentions of staying longer than a few days? When I crossed over last month, I told them and they just grilled me a bit, but that was prior to the approval.
Thoughts?

Does anyone on here know if crossing the border from Canada into the US gets harder once your petition has been approved? I am heading to LA next week for a few days on business and I am a bit worried that they will deny more easily now that this has happened. I have all of my paperwork that ties me to Canada (property tax bill, business cards for Canada based business, return ticket to Canada, etc), but just wanted to get a feel of what I am in for at the border.
-
Thought so.
Right on time, too! USC abroad cases usually get approved somewhere around the two month mark. Congrats! Start looking into NVC docs now, so you can be ready to send it off as soon as possible! I'd start calling next week to see if they've received the case yet.
Thanks for the tip. All the docs are ready to go. What's the general duration of this next stage, on a average of course???

I know it got to them, because I did get that auto email that said they got the email.
Thanks for the feedback. I will call right now.
