  1. Hi, im an indian citizen married to an american citizen. My husbsnd filed my papers in US through an attorney. We've been following up the case regularly. We submitted all civil dicuments and AOS too. Filed ds 260 on Dec 16 2013. Called NVC on Feb 3, 2014 who informed us that oir case has cleared and its being transferred to Mumbai consulate. Can anyone tell me how ling does this process take?

Our attorney said that a copy of all the documents submityed will be sent to me too, is this true?

You should get the interview letter from NVC in email.

You will get all the originals back at the time of your interview.

  2. Hey guys,

my wife was given a 221g because she didn't have her name change documents (school leaving certificate and gazette copy). She was told to drop off those documents along with her passport at one of the vfs locations in india.

do you know how long would it take now for them to issue the passport back with the visa once my wife submits the docs next week..

    regards

    Aryann

From what I heard it takes few weeks. I would suggest to keep inquiring once your wife submit her documents.

    Good luck.

I am interested in this topic as I too want to know if the same will happen to my wife.

Long story short: I filled out the I130 for my wife with MY surname. I had her add my name as spouse in her passport with surname being my last name.

Now all her school certificates have her first name and now middle name in them where passport includes surname = my last name with given name her first name and middle name.

I dont think any official name change document took place.

We are at NVC and I'm wondering if this is going to be issue come interview time?? OP did you do something similar???

Here is what I would suggest. Submit your wife's original birth certificate and if possible school leaving certificate. Get your wifes father and mother's affidavit about the name. affidavit will be an extra document. I also had my wife's adharcard with new name after marriage. She will have no problem. Good luck.

  3. Hi guys,

In a few weeks, we will file our 1-130 petition. Was wondering about how to handle the photos we are planning to include.

I am attaching a sample for you to view and get your feedback and thoughts. This is a super low-res version, the print quality is crystal clear.

    Thanks so much :-)

Perfect. Have atleast 15 pictures (7 or 8 pages). Don't just include marriage ceremony but also include honeymoon and in the house or visiting friends together.

  4. No AP and his visa is ready to be picked up smile.png

His interview lasted about 30 minutes. I was afraid that because we didn't send any evidence with the I-130 or during the NVC stage, that he would not be given the opportunity to show evidence or that the decision about our case would have been made before the interview, but thankfully that was not the case.

    Questions he was asked:

    Who is calling you?

    How did you guys meet?

    When did you guys meet?

    When did you propose?

When did you decide to get married?

Where were you when you met your wife?

Then was asked to show wedding pictures and name the people in the pictures

    Where does your wife live?

What does she do for a living?

    Is this your first marriage?

Your wife's? (This is my second marriage)

    Why did she get divorced?

    When did she get divorced?

What is her ex husband's name?

Is this the first time you apply for a US visa?

How about visa to another country? (He applied for a Mexican visa once to go meet my family)

When did your wife move to the US?

    Why did she move there?

Then he heard that everything was ok and his visa was approved smile.pngsmile.png

    CONGRATS!!!!! and best of luck....

  5. Thanks guys!!

The problem in AOS documents is that my husband is not having 1040 and w2 for past years. And, we dont know how to get it? He has transcript. Is it enough?

can you people please let me know which document you sent with affidavit of support packet?

    Transcript is all you need.

    7. Item Number 14.
    Federal Income Tax Information.
You must provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income
tax return for the most recent tax year. If you believe additional returns may help you to establish your ability to
maintain sufficient income, you may submit transcripts or photocopies of your Federal individual income tax returns
for the three most recent years.
You are not required to have the IRS certify the transcript or photocopy unless specifically instructed to do so by a
Government official; a plain transcript or photocopy is acceptable. Telefile tax records are not acceptable proof of

    filing

  6. I Paid my IV fee, and now there is DS 260 is available for me. but i haven't submit my sponsor yet because i am not done with my tax return for 2013 because i am waiting for my w2. So what to do should i finish DS 260? or should i wait to do sponsor first?

Dont need to wait for 2013 tax returns. Send I864 and tax returns filed for 2012. Your wife can take updated one during the interview and after you are done with tax returns for 2013. April 15 is the date people can file their taxes and its just January right now.

    It will save your time.

  7. Hi ... I just want to know that if we attach phone call details, should we only mention the calls done to spouse I.e date, time & year or all call records done to other relatives also in a particular month. This is bcoz I use calling card to call my spouse and I get full call details for previous month to whom ever I have called in my home country. Can I erase the other numbers and only list calls done to my spouse in a word document for each particular month???? Replies highly appreciated

I dont think phone log in word file is recommended. Anyone can create a fake one using that. you should ask the phone company to send you all call activity and you can black out other calls if you want too.

I sent all my call logs in one file with yellow marker on my wifes phone number.

  8. It's not going to damage our case. It might hurt alittle relationship between India and USA but not at the point where they have to close down their embassy s. Elections are coming so everyone trying to take advantage out of this issue, thats all.

  9. So my wife is trying to get all of her documents updated way before we get to the embassy interview, since she's been using her old address for like a year now lol. She went to get a new passport with her new address on it. But at the passport Seva Kendr, they told her that they needed her original marriage cert, not the certified copy from the court house, to issue the new passport. So I have some questions.

    1. Is this true? I feel like they are giving us trouble because we are an unusual pair (white guy/Muslim Indian girl)?

    2. Will it make any difference at our interview if her passport says single instead of married if all of the other info is correct?

    3. Is there any way to get the passport changed without the original marriage cert?

    Thanks!

    1) Usually it is not true. They do not know if you are white at the passport office. Yes they ask for the original marriage certificate or certified copy of the marriage certificate from the same authority who issues the marriage certificate. But then rules in India are not the same in all the states.

    2) Her passport saying single instead of married is not going to make any difference if the passport issue date is before the date of marriage and she has her marriage certificate with her.

They will give her a visa with her name before the marriage and she will get the greencard with the same name. She can change her name to the married name later when she becomes citizen.

) I don't know the answer for this question. Did your marriage certificate came from the courthouse? If so then they should accept the certified copy from the court house.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Hello guys, I am not at this stage but just getting ready to fill out my I-864 EZ form. If anyone could please help me with few questions I'll appreciate it. On part 3 for place of residence do I need to fill it out if its same as my mailing address, or should I put N/A on each field or just leave it blank? Same thing with part 7 (information on prepares) if I am the one who prepared it, do I need to feel out his information or leave it blank or N/A? Do I have to put N/A on each sub section or just the first part of the question?

    I appreciate it smile.png

Fill it out N/A for residence if it is same as mailing address. I got and RFE and I know two other people who got the same for not filling it out. You will save 15 days.

  11. What is packet 3.5 ?

My K1/K3 case has been approved and is transferred from National Visa Center to the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. What do I do next?

Please wait patiently. The applicant or petitioner should receive an instruction packet 3.5 after the Embassy has reviewed the file. This process can take 2-3 weeks. The instruction packet 3.5 will be sent to the applicant at his/her mailing address. If you do not receive your packet 3.5 after one month, please write to us by using our web-based e-mail submission form stating your case number and the name and date of birth of the applicant.
