  1. Thank you all for the well wishes! I WON'T SAY FOR SURE THAT YOUR SPOUSE CAN GO WITH YOU THROUGH THE CITIZENSHIP LINE BECAUSE EVERY STATE/AIRPORT MAY BE DIFFERENT, BUT CHICAGO OHARE AIRPORT ALLOWS THEM TO DO SO.

I must say the wait was hectic and frustrating, but now that he's here, it was all worth while looking back and I would do it all over if I had to .heart.gif I will continue to answer questions through my inbox for those seeking advice... HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND I HOPE EVERYONE HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  2. Thank you. When we landed the visitors line was a minimum of a 4 hour wait, after 2 hours I asked if he could go through the line for citizens with me and was told yes. I guess I should've asked when we first landed, but everything happens for a reason. A lot of immigration officers were giving others a difficult time, one officer took a couples greencards because they spent a year out of the U. S. As the couple begged her to allow them to keep their cards, she repeatedly said no... Our officer was amazing with a great sense of humor. He asked my fiance a few basic questions in line with me present and in no time we were done... I would do this over if I had to, having him here with me makes it all worth it... No regrets!

  3. Packet three is somewhat irrelevant, package four is what's important. After receiving packet three you want to submit form DS-230 online to the embassy so you can get scheduled for an interview. I heard there is a new form to fill out as of recently. I will say to apply for the police record and certificate of impediment ASAP. Fill out firms DS 156, 156K, and 157 and print three copies of each. This is the time to get your documents in order.

  4. DOS does not deal with processing the paperwork so they go off of the information the embassy puts in the computers. They called and told her to bring her passport in so within a couple days you should hear something, the process doesn't take much longer from here, the embassy has been moving at great speed lately, so you're almost at the finish line. Don't become stressed and frustrated now, your time is near.

  5. I understand your frustrations, a lot of the service are approving petitions at a faster rate. I've seen petitions approved within weeks to a few months and once approved they go to NVC so as you can see NVC's workload has increased drastically. A few months back when the service centers were behind NVC was moving at a fast pace so it all makes sense. They should hire more people but they may use the budget as an excuse to not do so which may explain why they extended the time frame. Had they not done so many people would tie up their lines or write a higher authority with complaints. I'm sorry you have to suffer but keep the faith and remain patient. Stressing yourself out won't do you or the situation any good. I been there done that. I waited 8 months for my NOA2, 2 months for my fiances interview date, and an additional 7 weeks plus to get approved and issuef so I definately understand. Good luck...

  6. Their workload had increased drastically. The fiscal year is coming to an end and in hopes that the Obama Immigration law is passed things will become more strict as far as petitioning for a loved one so many people are trying to start the process in hopes that things will work out in their favor before the law is officially passed. NVC has been sending out extension letters to a lot of people and a lot more are currently waiting. I hope you get some good news soon. Good Luck!

  7. If the shoe fits then wear it. I made the comments to whoever feel the need to bash Jamaican men. It wasn't geared towards you, but you choose to take it personal for some apparent reason. We all deal with negative criticisms, but only weak minded people allow it to play a role in them self and/or their relationship. I've heard a lot of criticism and quite frankly I'm over it all. You gave me the opportunity to comment when you made your post public sweetie. Enjoy your day...

  8. I think this conversation is really degrading to Jamaican men. Men everywhere are all the same. I hate when people point out the flaws of a Jamaican men. Everyone has a story and no two people are the same. Men in general tend to have similar behavior patterns. I guess when a man in the states does wrongs its acceptable, but when a man overseas does the same acts they are looked at as monsters and users looking for an opportunity. My fiancé resides in Jamaica and he doesn't do anything a typical man don't. It's all how you look at the situation. I dislike people who feel the need to hold a visa or green card over someone's head because they are filing for that individual. I dislike people who uses their mate as a puppet because they have the upper hand. Put the shoes on your feet and tell me how you like it. If you're with a man and they don't do right by you, it doesn't give you the authority to bash their culture as a whole. If you are dealing with a bad seed then you need to remove yourself from that relationship. You're no better than the people who dwell on the stereotypes that linger in today's society. I've dated a few American men and they did everything and more that a lot of Jamaicans do as well as men all over the world, I guess it's expected for us to tolerate their bad behavior because they don't need a visa or a green card. People who have these stereotypes are close minded individuals. Before pointing fingers look at yourself and the world around you. These discussions are sad and sick. Some people feel that because they have a bad experience so will others so they take it up on themselves to warn others. For those who are unhappy with their Jamaican spouse leave him, don't come one here trying to poison the minds of others. There are many men in society, find one that best fits your needs. A lot of those who have had negative things to say aren't that young, so apparently something went wrong in your last relationships that lead you to a Jamaican. It may not even be the men, it may just be you!

Visa journey is a site created for people to share their stories and and help others that are on their journey along the way. Not a site created to bash cultures. If you don't need help or have helpful advice, this is not the site for you.

  9. So Jovel's visa was issued on the 27th of August. Picked up on the 29th by DHL and delivered to the destination we choose on the 30th which he had access to but didn't pick it up until yesterday September 4th. You have 30 days I pick it up, if its not picked up they send it back to the embassy. You have 6 months to travel on it before it expires... He will not travel until December. I'm going down and he'll travel back with me then.

I started some of the paperwork for AOS, I get stressed out here and there, so I'm just going to take a break and relax for the time being. This K1 was a lot of work and a long journey, so I'm going to enjoy the huge milestone we just completed...

Good Luck to everyone, try not to stress too much, I did it and it got me no where...

  10. Mistakes are meant to be made so that we learn from them. Don't be so hard on yourself. They should have notified you long ago and should not have given you a NOA1. This goes to show that they half ### things on there behalf, it's unbelievable that they took 7 months to catch this. Get the additional documents in ASAP! Don't waste any time. I suggest that you research whats needed for the second phase after approval so you'll have things ready to go. Feel free to ask for help here on VJ. It's a great website that has many people who have great knowledge in filing for a loved one. It's very helpful. Take advantage of the site as we all do.

  11. Now that you know that you've been approved, gather all your documents needed as it takes time. Do not wait to hear from NVC. My fiancé dragged and we had to hustle to do everything and then the KNG embassy gave us the in around and left us with exactly two weeks to get his medical for his interview. So get all the necessary documents together which will release a lot of pressure and stress for this next stage. Be sure you meet the requirements for your affidavit if support, if not you will need to get a co-sponsor. Gather your taxes and W2's.

  12. Happy Labor Day everyone! I hope everyone have an amazing day! Most will bar b que and one will relax... Either way, I hope it's a great day for everyone. Unfortunately then embassy is closed, but tomorrow starts a new week that I'm hoping will be successful...

  13. Once your case creation date changes on the CEAC website, that will help you know that their close to issuing the visa. Stressing will not help Hun, been there done that. Just keep the faith and pray for a fast issuance. I must say the embassy has been moving at great speed these past couple of weeks, because believe me when i say that there was very little movement in prior weeks. I'll keep my fingers crossed... Good luck
