Okay drum roll please.......................................................................................April 15th, 10am Interview
Please keep us in prayer this journey isn't over yet. Right now I have chest pains and I am numb. Truly. Speechless head spinning. Feel like going into labor (Of course not pregnant. LOL)

No. It's never worked like that and it's pretty much guaranteed they'll never change it.
There's probably just a backlog in that department or there's some sort of bug. No need to worry, it'll process soon.
Husband/petitioner: I-864
MIL: I-864
The only time an I-864A would come into play in YOUR situation is if the husband (if there is any) of the MIL would contribute their income. In that instance alone, he would use an I-864A.
The reason why the MIL wouldn't file an I-864A is because they're technically two different households, despite living under the same roof. If she filed her son (your husband) as a dependent on her tax returns, that's when she would file an I-864A.
Hope that was clear enough!
It's usually always within 1-2 weeks of them getting the package.

Let's hope for that being incorrect. I want my wife here before April for our Birthdays

Called 4x today.
the 3rd person I spoke too, said there is no chance that my wife will be here in March. They have scheduled all the appointments.
5 minutes ago, with no hold time. I spoke to a great guy, and he said to call again tomorrow if not Friday, and I should have my number, and I need to rush everything I do, and he said she could still be here in March.
Lets see what happens.

sld got a reaction from raf.luv.leah in Reporting marriage and name change in the US
A1. No, you put it on your marriage certificate. My wife dropped her middle name(her mothers last name) and has her maiden name as her middle name, and took my last name.
A2. ?
A3. I don't think you can get one, until your married.
A4. Original Marriage certificate filed at NSO. You would need to change your name on 2 ID's. you would need to apply for a passport name change.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
