  1. Would the address be on the interview letter you received (from NVC)?

Okay, this is gonna be the stupidest question of the year. maybe.

Once we receive our interview. Do we go to the embassy or the consulate?! I'm a bit confused?

I'm looking for hotels, in santo domingo that are close to WHICH ever one we're supposed to go to.

  2. Dear fellow Canadians, good morning/afternoon! (depends on where you are)

After I spent significant amount of time on visa journey.com, I have mostly focused on the Administrative Processing (AP) reports particularly from US Consulate in Montreal, in other words, immigrant visas and K1 visas. I have shamelessly come with a few bold points here...and any inputs/comments are welcome.

    1. Most applicants don't know why they are put on AP.

    2. AP is loosely linked to the counties where the applicants are born (Many people speculated the MENA countries born applicants may be likely to put on AP).

    3. AP can be as short as a few days. Most applicants are under AP for a few months (2-3 months). Some are on AP for 6 months or more.

    4. Montreal U.S. Consulate only communicates through e-mail, it is efficient to my experiences.

    5. You can check your AP status by calling 1 202 663 1225 then press 1, then press 0, then you will be answered very quickly by a specialist, they are professional, accurate, patient and helpful.

Alternative, you can check your status online

    6. It may be frustrating. However, there is really not much you can do in order to expedite AP. It is to most extent a wait, while you are hoping it won't be too long.

    7. Once NVC transferred the case to the Montreal U.S. Consulate, they don't handle the case anymore. All package will be mailed to Montreal.

    8. USCIS doesn't handle I-130, I-140 anymore once they forward the case to NVC.

  3. Did you get your visa yet?

It has been a while, good luck!

I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is a US citizen. I had my CR-1 Immigrant visa interview at Montreal consulate in September 2012. My interview was 10 minutes long and the interviewing officer asked me basic questions about our relationship etc. Once the interview was done, he handed me a welcome letter and told me I should get my visa within 4 to 5 days.

Instead, I received a letter from the embassy in mail saying that my case has been put into administrative processing. It has been five months but no update. I involved congressman but they couldn't do much. their response is "the case is still undergoing administrative processing".

They told me my case is documentarily complete and didnt ask for any further documentation.

Can someone tell me why the case is in AP and how much longer it can take? Is this normal..This is really frustrating.

Also I was born in Pakistan...not sure if this has anything to do with this. Please help.

  4. Did you receive your visa?

I finally heard from the US Consulate, but the Visa office Public Inquires is the one that replied to my email. I wonder why? Anyways there saying that the paper work that was turned into them after my husbands interview is in Administrative Processing. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. How long can you stay in Admin processing before you hear anything?

  5. well done, good luck with your interview

    Hi Everyone

We just got back from Montreal for Marlene's medical exam. Everything went well. The people at the doctor's office are very friendly and extremly efficient. The exam took about two hours start to finish. I recommend getting there at least 1/2 hour early.

We stayed at the Square Phillips hotel right downtown. It is about a 5 minute walk to the doctor from there and the Consulate is located right behind the hotel, a 1 minute walk. I highly recommend this hotel. We will be staying there again for the visa interviw on May 6.

Cheers to all and Good luck !

  6. sometimes the interview is always mysterious, in a way.

It states Cr-1/Ir-1. Interviews are normally very quick--less than 10 minutes. Most wonder after the interview 1) why they worried so much and 2) I really just forked over $$ for hotels and airfare/food for this?? They normally ask very basic questions--how you met--what ur spouse does for work, what ur plans are? Very basic. Now if ur have been born in a country not friendly to the USA or lived in one for an extended amount of time, the questions will probably still be basic, but they may "review" ur case longer, so not a fast turn around in getting ur visa!

  7. What visa are you applying for?

I've tried to do a search but can't find answers...curious to know what exactly is covered in interviews? Do they ask questions about plans for work in the US? Do they ask questions to make sure that documents provided are legit?

  8. congratulations!

Just picked up my visa, and guys its a amazing feeling, was on my way to work, feel like turning back, lol.... I wanna say thanks to every one on visa journey for support, and good luck to everybody who is still waiting, oooh and I did not need a I.D to pick it up, she opened it and look at the passport.

  9. What documents did you submit?

Hi VJ friends, i had submitted documents asked in 221 g sheet on 12/13/2012 and after that the cases are on Ap for Cr1 and Cr2 visa. Our passports are with embassy and my husband called DOS and the lady said our cases are with embassy and the embassy has all the details. when i send e-mails to vfs and even when i check on line status it shows that the cases are on necessary administrative process and the embassy will contact you when the processing will complete.

after submission of asked documents by 221g sheet on 12/13/2012 Embassy called me and asked many questions in February 2013 and in the same month two lady officers came in our town and asked many question about us from our neighbors and from my mother and went after that no news cases are on AP.AS the days are passing my tension level is increasing this Ap is disturbing much. What will be next?how much chances are to get success? any one faced the same pls advise.

  10. Congrats!

Maybe you can use a student card, bank card, a letter with your name and address, explain to the DHL person and they will understand.

I am almost sure they will need a I.D from me. Please help.

  11. How about applying for the green card?

I have been offered a position at Google in the US and my fiance lives in the US.

I am starting work for Google in Zurich in October this year and am able to transfer office to the US in October 2014 if I can get a visa. I am open to all options right now, we are happy to marry in the US or UK if it will help, but whatever will allow me to take my job and marry my girl is perfect!

I do not qualify for the H1-B this year since I will not graduate until the July. I can apply again next year but if it's a lottery may not be granted it. I could apply for the L-1 but if I understand correctly I must wait until October 2014 until I can apply, and since I can only transfer office every year in October I'd then have to wait until Oct 2015 to move to the US.

Any help you could give would be incredibly useful!

    Thanks!

  12. You should be expecting the green card real soon.

    Best of luck

    Hello,

Has someone here already got their Green Card on H1B Visa (through employer)? I am wondering how long it took you to get your GC. I did my finger prints mid-february and got my Advanced Parole Card around first week of March, so how long can I wait for the Green Card? Every time I check my case status online (I-485)it is still at the "Acceptance" stage yet it was submitted January 18. I am just desperate to have an idea, can I expect to get my GC sometime this summer or there is more waiting to do? Thanks.

  13. Which visa are you applying?

If the fees are not paid yet, the consulate will ask your husband to do it when he is being interviewed.

My husband got a interview date for next month in Pakistan. Are there any additional fees needed to be paid for the interview? Like I know the payment for the medical but anything else? Also, can I accompany my husband to the interview since I am in Pakistan currently?

    You are technically correct.

MENA stands for "Middle East and North Africa"

Pakistan is not one of them.

Pakistan is not a MENA country . Please take a look at this list !

  14. Not familiar with K1 but am sure a lot of people are. Best of luck!

Hello! i was wondering if anybody had experience of k1 visa application while being canadian to compare time! Plus also, what are the steps after the port of entry-did it go smoothly to applied for right to work etc... let me know !

  15. probably only a few days of time, you should be able to receive your passport stamped with visa. congrats!

    Thanks GodsGift225,

I hope Islamabad embassy didn't do any mistake about my status :-)

The thing I don't understand is, there r so many people stuck in this AP for so long and mine didn't seem long by any means as compare to them.

I really hope and pray everyone gets over it soon.

Can anyone plz advise how long it takes for them to hand me over the passport?

  16. Issued means "approved", Do you agree?

    Hi everyone,

I am confused regarding my case reply by Islamabad embassy + my AP.

    I submitted required docs to embassy on March-23-2013 and received a reply from embassy saying the following;

    Dear Sir/Madam,

We are pleased to inform you that our office has already received the below mentioned documents and those were forwarded to the consular officer who found those documents qualified but the case is still pending under administrative process and we will contact the applicant(s) upon completion of this process. Also, time duration for the process is always approximated therefore maximum cannot be predicted.

You may also check on the status of your case at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/.

That was received on the April-8-2013.

Today I have checked to see what my status is and it says

    U.S. Department of State

    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

    Issued

Immigrant Visa Case Number: ISL********** 01 ISL

    Case Creation Date: 24-Dec-2012

    Status Updated Date: 09-Apr-2013

I am confused, they put me on AP for just one day? And when I would be able to pick my passport? Help would be appreciated. Thanks Guys.

  17. Would you by any chance know the reason why your husband APed?

My husband and I have been in Administrative Processing or AP for short since October 2, 2012. On all the websites and every where I have searched it really doesn't give me a timeline in which this process is cleared up or why is it even being done. I called the visa office here in the U.S to see what could we do and on there recording it clearly states that most AP cases clear after only 50 days while I know too many people who have went through this and are waiting years and I feel that is ridiculous. I'm not looking for special treat of any kind and if this is normal I will wait but I know if they were looking for something or if something was wrong it has been 6 months, they would have found it by now. So Im looking for advice on who I can call to shade some light on this situation and why them so long to get this over with and give us a real answer. Since october 2012 I feel like someone has casted a shadow of darkness over us and we are trying so hard to find out what is wrong but every door or window we turn to for an answer is closed. I would really appricate any help given or even advice as to where to go. I was thinking the media but Im not famous or special so I dont think they would listen but it is time for someone to answer for this situation taking sooo long. Hope this reach someone who can help and have the courage to answer. Stay Blessed Everyone.
