1. Hi everyone, quick question. Can I travel to the Philippines with just a one way ticket? I am still a Filipino citizen though I already have a green card. And also, my son will be travelling with me. He is a dual citizen and is also a holder of a Philippine passport. Will he be needing a roundtrip ticket or a one way ticket would suffice? Thank you?

  2. You would be out of status and, technically, deportable at any time; once your I-94 expires then you have no legal status and are considered illegally present in the US.

You should obviously file for AoS as soon as possible, because being out of status is not fun. The good news is that you can file for AoS at any time, even with overstay, provided that you married (and are still married to) your original petitioner. A K-1 can only ever adjust status based on marriage to whomever filed the I-129F that they were the beneficiary of.

Im really worried about deportation. Yes I married my original petitioner. I just dont want to get deported for filing aos a couple weeks after the I-94 expires.

  3. ok. thanks for all the help guys. so here's what i'm gonna do, i'll paste the printed pictures in a bondpaper 3 pics each then label them accordingly. I'll give them 15 photos. would that be enough or too much? haha. i have a presentation folder for everything. I hope everything goes well on my interview. Im excited and pretty nervous at the same time. haha

  4. i have a question that is in line with yours.. (sorry not heloping..)

can i just paste the pictures in a word doc, label them and print it?

Im not sure about that. I wanted to do that originally, but i read from somewhere here that the pictures should be printed by a company such as Kodak or something else like that.

  5. Hi everyone, my interview on the US Embassy Manila will be on March 25th and I'm almost ready. I only have to fill out the DS forms then makes sure I make a copy of everything then I'm good to go. I have our pictures printed out earlier today and I was just wondering how should I give them to my interviewer. Should I put them all in a plastic bag with labels at the back of each picture or should i paste them in a bondpaper and label them respectively? thanks. :)

  6. Just out of curiosity question, I hope you guys don't mind. I would like to know how long does a chest X-ray test in St. Luke take?

Thank you and God bless! :)

the chest xray is done on the 1st day of the medical exam. it takes only a couple of minutes. Its the waiting that might take as long as an hour. The results of the Xray will be given on a cd the next day.

  7. as for the birth certificate and CENOMAR you can directly go to the National Statistics Office in Quezon CIty and get it right away or you can request for it online at www.e-census.com.ph and get it in a couple days. I got mine that way.

for the NBI clearance, a month is too long. I got my clearance last week but I was first asked to wait for more than 2 weeks. what i did was I went to NBI taft and I got my clearance the day after. no more two weeks of waiting. i just had to pay them again for the clearance fee. I hope this helps. :)

  8. Okay so heres the situation.. My wife is trying to apply for a new passport cause she lost it and plus shes ttrying to add her new married name to the passport. We had all the docs ready the nbi and aff of los and all that Then the agency told us we need a CFO certificate..

and im like "what the heck is a CFO certificate" The philipines has too many rules and too much paperwork i swear!!

I found out she has to take a senimar class from 2 to 5pm in either manila or cebu and its first com first serve.

WEll my wife unfortunatly she has no car and she does not work and she is raising my step daugther by herself and she lives nowhere near cebu or manila. She lives in the provence surrounded by grass. Now! She lives in the negros and the clossest place would be cebu but she would have to go on massive bus rides and boat rides to get to cebu and she has to make it there before 2pm and its a first come first serve.. she has nobody she can go with and she knows nobody in cebu.

I am worried out of my mind!!! Theres no way she can leave our dauugther and or better yet take her with her... It is far to dangerous and im worried about her traveling all that way by herself. My job also does not allow me to just up and leave to the philipines when i want... Next time i see her ill be there maybe in july or aug. But She needs her passport for the cr1 visa.

This is redicoulous.. she can travel as far as BAcolod which is a major city but she still lives 3 hours away from that.. Cebu is wayyyy father and she has to either take a plane or a boat!

Sombody please help! I need CFO

hi. May I ask which agency looked for the CFO certificate? is she applying for a passport for the first time? or is she just renewing her old passport to add her married name? because if its just a simple renewal, she doesnt need the CFO certificate. The CFO is only required when you are about to leave the PI already like when your CR1 Visa was already approved. No spouse or fiance is allowed to leave the country without taking the CFO seminar. They put a sticker/stamp on your visa once you finished the seminar. Best way to take it, is when the embassy already returned her passport with her visa. So she doesnt need to go back to where she attended the CFO to have her visa stamped. Again. CFO isnt required for applying for a passport. Her Birth certificate, marriage contract and a valid i.d will do. It's also better if she applies for the passport directly to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)

  9. 1040 is the tax return. W2s show what a person made and how much taxes, social security, etc were taken out of an individual's pay, 1040 is what gets filed after the end of the year to determine if you get money back from taxes or if you owe money in taxes.

oh ok. so it's the income tax return from the IRS. im sorry i got confused. thanks for answering my query. :)

  10. thank you for the very detailed narration of your interview process. Im about to have my interview on the the 25th and im a little nervous about it. and im not very patient in waiting so good luck to me right? haha. anyway, what is a 1040? I haven't read anything that mentioned that? should i have it for the interview too?

  11. Question though, where are you trying to get your NBI Clearance? In Robinsons Malls?

Nope. first time I went to Ever Gotesco Recto, then they ask me to wait for 2 weeks. However I found out that if you go to NBI taft instead they only make you wait a week. In my case I just repaid the fee and I got my clearance the next day. The process at NBI taft is really faster than what I've expected and everybody was so helpful. :)

  12. Ok. So I went to NBI Taft this morning. I asked if i can get my clearance sooner than march 14. Thank God there were officers everywhere and they've been really helpful. I was asked for repayment so I paid them again for the clearance. Then I was told that I can get my clearance tomorrow at 11am. I've only been there for like 30mins. It was really fast and I didnt need a fixer to get the clearance. Now I can breath better. thank you very much to all of you for the help. God Bless you all. :innocent:

  13. Just be careful the "fixer" fix is just expediting the process, and not something else. The embassy does sometimes request the NBI clearance, or an NSO document, directly from those agencies. You best hope they match what you provided them. For the last couple of years, there has been a proliferation of forged and "fixed" documents being submitted to the embassy in Manila, and they are more than aware of it.

yeah. that's why I have second thoughts about getting a fixer. *sigh this is very stressful

  14. I have friends who encountered the same thing as yours in getting NBI clearance, even though their names were not that common at all. So I guess it couldn't be your phone bill, so relax, I think you'll be fine. About how to get it before the said date, one of my friends paid an amount to a fixer and had her NBI clearance in a day, and the sad thing is that the fixer is an employee at NBI.

Oh. yeah, is sad. but that is usually how govt agencies work. haha. problem with that is they will charge you so much.

  15. i begged for it :P then he said he will make a long distance call (w/c idk where) and i will be charged for the call (but i know better than that) so without any choice and out of desperation to get it sooner i said yes and i got it 2 days after :P this was a transaction outside the office tho and i know you know what i mean ;)

i had the same perspective before but it all changed after my experience of being asked to pay extra to get it sooner

Oh. I know exactly what you mean  haha. ok thank you. maybe i'll just do that.

  16. usually they just put "hit" if your name is common like first name or family name and that could actually be fixed in a short amount of time IF they are willing to work on it a little sooner but sadly there are offices that just put hit on it because they dont want to work on the clearance that day and just ask you to come back few weeks after. i really had a terrible experience that i have to pay extra just to get it on time before my interview

that is true. most of the applicants there today were asked to come back on the 14th and that really wasnt the case before when i first got my NBI clearance. YOu know how slow govt agencies here are. You said you paid extra? for what? you think maybe i can do the same? what should i tell them?

  17. It's probably not a hit but a thorough checking. This happened to me too and I doubt that I have a namesake.

My thought was that once your petition arrived at the US Embassy, they require more background checks on your name so when you went to NBI, it alerted them to make further checking. That is all it is. You will be able to get your NBI clearance on the 14th.

    Good luck!

honestly that's what i first thought of. Since the first couple of NBI clearances that I got were just for employment and this time it's for travel abroad. and then I thought about my internet bill and then thats when i started worrying.

  18. So this is my problem, this morning I went to get my NBI clearance for my interview which is scheduled on March 25th. I was able to get NBI clearance before with no hits, but today I got a hit and was asked to come back on March 14th. I am worried because I have an unpaid internet bill from SMARTBRO and I received demand letters to settle my bill which amounts to 4,000 pesos only. I stopped receiving those letters on December of last year. I know that it's very unlikely for them to file a case against me since no person can be imprisoned for non-payment of debt. I'm sure of this coz I was a law student for 3 years. However I'm still worried coz that's the only reason I could think about for why I would get a hit. Plus, if there was really a case pending against me, I should have received a subpoena or a warrant of arrest for that matter but I receive none of that. So I really doubt it. It could be just a case of having a person with the same name as I do. I'm so worried that I wont be able to get my clearance on time for my interview. So I was wondering if there is any way that I could get NBI to speed up the verification process. Is there? i really want this done before March 14 just in case something else goes wrong then I have time to fix it. Please help. :/
