Holy cow, you've got an appt already! And so soon?? I need to see if hubby can go in for an early appt if we get our letter soon since we'll be out starting the 29th for 2 weeks. The one time I wanted them to drag their heels on something! haha, figures! :clock:

    My update...

That's super fast!! I'm getting nervous about leaving now .. :(

  2. Thank you for correcting mine! Quick question - we are planning a 2 month trip to Asia and are obviously going to travel with our passports and the NOA1 to get back into the country. Do you know if we need to travel with the actual NOA1 or can we just make a copy and bring it with us? I'm paranoid to lose the original so I was going to travel with several copies in case we lose them. Would that be OK?

No problem! I think a copy would be sufficient. I was thinking about taking the original, but now that you mention it, I don't want anything happening to ours either. We're leaving the country next Friday for 2 weeks and come back 2 weeks before hubby's GC expires, so we definitely need proof that he can remain in the country when we come back.

Biometrics date received today, 7/21 (The letter says the "notice date" is 7/16). Added our case to VSC. By the way I just put 7/1 for "I-751 date" since that is the date the I-751 was received by USCIS. If other people are putting the date their application was mailed, that's fine, but I don't see how it's as useful for others to know that information as it is to know when the application was received and when the NOA1 date is. We know that the NOA1 date seems to be the date received for most people. Any changes here would be more interesting to know about than whether or not someone shipped their application expedited or not. Shipping times don't really help others, is my only point -- so I propose using the date received by USCIS (assuming most people use tracking and have this information) for the "Date of I-751" rather than date shipped. Anyway, best of luck to all! By the way, the biometrics letter reminds you to bring ID! Going by the wording of the document, it seems a driver's license or passport is all that is required. But why not bring both of those, plus the green card!

Also, there are two Application Numbers listed on the form. I looked them up on the USCIS portal website. The first number doesn't return any result. The second number seems to work fine, it says: "On July 1, 2016, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number EAC**********, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case."

*shrug* You've got a point, but I just went by what every other monthly thread went by. I think it's based more on the NOA1 date, and VJ just tries to separate by month for more accurate estimates. Thanks for the tip on bringing the three types of ID to the appointment!

When did everyone receive their biometrics letter? We received our NOA1 a week ago but haven't gotten it yet, wondering how long it will take

I don't know exactly what day it arrived in our mailbox, but our NOA1 is 7/8 and we haven't gotten anything yet either.

  3. Can I give an American/British couple's impression? We drove ourselves all over Europe.

Munich(twice)- No problems with English in restaurants and shops. German maps are precise and spot on and every street is marked.. Always had fun at the Hofbräuhaus. Don't be shy and pick an empty table in the corner upstairs. Look for two spots right by the band and ask if you can join their group. We did that three times and had a lovely evening with Italians, Germans, a Pole, and a drunk American from Chicago. Hilarious evening dancing and drinking beer with brand new friends.

Florence- Maps are a challenge. The street may have a sign, or be painted on the side of a building or completely missing. (We were driving). Uffizi Gallery. Yes! But don't miss the statue of David in another area and building just because the lines are long. Don't be confused by the concrete replica in the plaza. The real statue is a masterpiece in smooth marble. Up close and personal was more amazing than any photo. Notice the details of tiny veins. Beautiful. I just sat on the bench behind David and checked out his bum for a long time. I do appreciate the fine arts (as much as drinking beer and dancing with Germans) so those were pretty awesome and the reason I wanted to go to Florence.

Hey Nich-Nick! Long time no see! I remember you being so amazing in the UK community on here and helping everyone out, including myself and my husband. I'm glad you're back!

Of course, I didn't think to simply ask people who have visited as well! I'm open to any suggestions! And thanks for yours - I'll have to check out that place in Munich, sounds fun! I'm absolutely clueless about German food except the kind you get here in Houston. Any suggestions for us to try? I wouldn't mind finding a place that did good soft pretzels too because I love pretzels!

Thanks for the tips on Florence as well, especially about David since I'd probably be confused seeing it outside. haha. I've looked into hitting up the Galileo museum while we're there. We're staying in a place right next to the Arno river and Ponte Vecchio, so I'm excited we can walk from there to everywhere we want to go.

  4. Hello everyone!

Hubby and I are taking a mini Eurotrip to celebrate our 3rd anniversary and my birthday and we're staying 2 days in each city. I've done my own research on TripAdvisor, but I wanted to see if we could get advice from locals from Munich, Florence, and Barcelona.

    1. Good places to eat? (Or your favorite places.)

    - Favorite dishes/must try dishes

    2. Museums or places we must visit.

    3. Language barriers with English? (I'm fluent in Spanish.)

    4. Airport tips (Should arrive 2 hrs before flight, etc.)

    5. Anything else we should know?

I appreciate any information y'all can provide for us! Thanks! ^_^

  5. Updated!

FYI - Please copy/paste and update the most recent post with the table. Also, the Receipt Date printed on your notice is the NOA1, not the date you received the letter. If you add yourself to the table, please update the number of applicants. Thanks! ^_^

  6. 6/23/2016: Sent I-751 to VSC

    7/1/2016: Received at VSC

    7/6/2016: Check cashed

    7/11/2016: NOA1 received (dated 7/1/2016)

Hoping biometrics letter will come soon! We expect the appointment will be sometime in early August based on others' timelines. Will update here with our biometrics date since we are July 1 NOA1, should be before you guys :P

Hey ya! You're more than welcome to post and update in here, but you may want to be included with the June filers since you sent in June. If you'd rather be on our table, then I have no problem adding you. Just let me know. :)

  7. Hey! What exactly did you send with the ROC application? We can file on 07/18, but I think we won't be able to file till next month. We have been so busy lately, it actually slipped my mind that it's almost 2 years! Time flies.

There's two pinned threads at the top of the main page for Removing Conditions on Residency here. The first posts of each are very helpful!

    I used this as a checklist: http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide

I also made copies of our Driver's Licenses showing we live at the same address. Our two affidavits were also notarized.

I would also recommend skimming through other monthly threads for other ideas on what to include.

  10. Hi everyone! Can't believe it's been 2 years already. My 90 day window opened early last month, but we weren't able to send it until today. So here I am as a July 2016 Filer. I didn't see a July thread, so I created one. If I was mistaken, mods please remove or join my thread to the exisiting one if needed.

    Good luck to everyone!

  11. I live in Oregon I love the mountains ..........camping fishing hunting hiking .....the ocean

I also love SF California beautiful there.

Was disappointed in NY city looked better in the movies and everything was really expensive

One of my favorite memories is salmon fishing on the Columbia. I have yet to go camping, but I hope to change that soon! Northern Cali is quite beautiful as well. Haven't made it over to NY yet, but I loved D.C.

West coast best coast! Cannot wait to move to Oregon this year!

Lucky duck! You'll love it there! The weather isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. (And I agree .. since you can't really count Gulf coast.)

I love Washington State, the mountains, trees, rivers etc are beautiful.

We travelled down 101 for our honeymoon and the coastline was stunning :)

101!! Oh man, y'all are making me miss my 2nd home really bad. :(

  12. Thank you we need all the luck in the world and good luck to you.

I came to poke my head in to check to see if any familiar faces were still around and I was disappointed to see you're not done yet! Glad you have an interview coming up soon though and best of luck that everything goes smoothly!! :)

It has now been 98 days since my husband's interview, and we are still in AP. No reason given and the last time we heard from the embassy was Christmas Eve. All that they said was that AP usually takes 2 to 4 months (which is much longer than what they told us at the interview and longer than the estimate given on the embassy website). I just wish this part of the process was even a little bit more transparent. It's absolutely killing me to just sit here and wait and not have any control over this.

I contacted both of my Senators and my rep in Congress. Hopefully somebody can get something done, but I have pretty low expectations. I just feel so defeated and helpless.

There is no excuse why a fellow Sept 2013 filer isn't through to the finish line!! I hope and pray that some movement and progress comes your way so you can be reunited soon. This process makes every one of us suffer but we come out stronger at the end. I hope your reps can make something happen!!

  13. Wow, Portland! I live there! I always get curious what people like about Portland (as I like it, too).

Nice! I lived in Gresham/Troutdale when I was a kid and also lived there practically every summer for years since my dad worked for Boeing, so it became a 2nd home to me. I lived there on my own for a year after I graduated High School and attended school there, but Texas was calling me back home, so here I am.

Portland is very different from what I am used to here in Houston, and I just love smelling the evergreens as soon as you step out of PDX. So refreshing! I'm a nature lover, so having Mt. Hood, Multnomah/Columbia Gorge, lots of different parks, rivers, hiking trails, etc all within an hour from home was absolutely amazing. And the food! Omg, best seafood ever. Sunday brunch at Salty's while sitting outside on the deck overlooking the river? Yes, please! I haven't been back since 2009! :( Hoping to change that soon!!

  14. Hi VJ members, just received the Interview letter :) and still can't figure it out what those codes are for? I thought this letter will help me to know what actually need to bring at the interview but I got totally lost :(

    in one paragraph it says:

    - "Bring updated Federal income tax information to the interview. If a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of

Support) and provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal income tax extension in lieu of a Federal
income tax return, bring the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return to the visa interview."
I don't get this, do I need to bring my husband's most recent 1040 or what? We don't have joint sponsor and we filled out I- 864 form and sent to NVC! What my husband need to send me, if he needs?
I can't figure it out what those codes mean? I don't know if I need to bring my civil documents, Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate....

There should be a key on one of the pages explaining what each of the letters or symbols listed next to your items signify. This is very important to figure out whether they have everything they need or if you need to provide them with the documentation they ask for.

Also, I think that paragraph is generic and on every IL, so if your hubby hasn't updated his taxes since filing, then you're fine and don't necessarily need to bring a copy of the return, unless you want to have a copy just in case (most of the time it's not necessary).

  15. Did you fill out the form via the website and then you got a letter in the post vs email? Wow, I bet you were in shock too! I'm in Wisconsin and my hubby is in the UK, and today he received the Interview Letter via the post.

Yes! That was the weird thing. We had been corresponding with them via e-mail, but they didn't say anything for a while so we gave up on it until he received the IL in the post in the UK. Did you not receive the IL e-mail? We got the original IL via e-mail and the rescheduled IL in the post. The date was postmarked a day or two after our second e-mail chain with them.

  16. I hear that the London Embassy is run very well and efficient. I would have tired to bring your date forward as well. I'm glad i worked out for you.

Oh yeah, that part of this process was the easiest! The waiting in between the date assignment and the actual interview day was harder, but this month will fly past, you'll see! :) And thanks! We were surprised with the new date in the post since they hadn't notified us by e-mail until after we already received the hardcopy letter confirming the new date.

  17. @k.dlg We thought about trying to get our date changed sooner but with it being only a month from today (11/17) it almost seems pointless.

Did you get your date scheduled earlier when you were in the process?

Yeah, you're better off having more time getting all the loose ends tied up in the UK before making the big move during that month! Yes we did. We weren't as bad off as another UK filer, but we were scheduled almost 2 months out from our CC which seemed ridiculous compared to other timelines at the time, so after pushing them twice, they finally gave us an earlier date that put us at almost 6 weeks instead of 8 weeks from CC.
