Assuming you are a US LPR...
You should be fine. You may be asked what you were doing; just answer honestly. There's no need to get a reentry permit for a 4 month trip.
N.B. The US is your home.
Haha true. We're just travelling as college students/grads. I hope it's a good enough reason since I haven't visited China for 3 years. My husband hasn't met any of my family except my parents.

I am about to graduate college and want to visit home with my husband for 4 months.
Will this raise a red flag with CBP when I come back?

Claiming to be a Legal Permanent Resident when you are NOT a Legal Permanent Resident to gain benefits of being a Legal Permanent Resident is illegal.
He did not do that.
Robbing banks is illegal also and ...he did not do that.
NON issue.
Thanks! Now we don't have to worry! yay.

I am single, so I am not sure how I could file jointly. Also, I got my LPR status during 2013, so does that still apply to 2012 tax filing?
See U.S. Tax Guide for Aliens Pub. 519
http://www.irs.gov/uac/Publication-519,-U.S.-Tax-Guide-for-Aliens-1
This is the guide Form 1040 tells you to read if you're not sure which status to file under.
-
If you read the 1040 instruction, it says you can file as a resident alien if you file jointly.
Or you can file as dual-status, which means during 2012, you were a LPR and a non-immigrant visa holder.

He isn't in the States right now... He opened the bank account some time ago when he was here on B2. There is only $300 in it, not really any benefit.
I understand that "permanently residing in the US" isn't the same thing as claiming US citizenship, my question is if claiming LPR is illegal? Again, he was never asked the question whether he is a LPR or not. He discovered it after he went home with the bank account forms.

Hey guys, I'm asking a question for my friend.
He is about to file for GC. He had opened a bank account and at the time, without really asking him, the banker checked "permanently residing in the US" in his profile. My friend didn't know that it means he is a permanent resident if he checked that box.
Will this affect his chance of applying for a GC? I know it is very bad if you falsely claimed being a US citizen, what about being a LPR? He didn't intentionally lie about that, the banker didn't ask and assumed that he was one.

Thanks for the input guys! I will be flying from a local airport (no international flights) to PVG (shanghai). I'd love to take the business class one day when I have lots of $$$ Haha. Hopefully I can find some good deals. I have never heard of Cathay Pacific. I can only find AA, United, Delta, Korean Air on kayak and some other major flight search engines.
-
Do you guys have any preference of airline company? I have used Delta and United, Delta was better. But that was more than 3 years ago...
-
Ah okay! Thanks!

We have paid 800 - 1200 and 3600 for business class (6-3 in Coach sucks)..
Which website do you use to look up tickets?
I wouldn't mind paying $3,600 for business class but I've only seen tickets over $8,000.

Yes, did you file an Advisory Opinion? My friend got "subject to 212(e) requirement" printed on her visa, and is actually not subject to it.
Original DS-2019 says not subject, and the Advisory Opinion explained the mistake.

I am thinking about visiting China in the Spring (mid-March), and coming back in the summer (June or July). When is the best time to fly? And how much should I expect the tickets to be? I went back 3 years ago and it was around $1,200. My destination is PVG airport, and leaving from a small airport (no international flights).

Point Mass! Yer so naughty, la.
Naughty? Why is that?!

I am the OP, my friend finally set up an account for me... I have been using hers for the past few days.
Thank you Darnell! I will be travelling through Shanghai Airport, I hope they're nice! I haven't been back to China for 3 years... My Dad wanted to add an endorsement for me on the passport, but now they make us get a new passport that has the chip inside. I just renewed my passport not too long ago and don't want to bother getting a new passport just for the name endorsement. Plus it has the controversial map...
How much are the tickets to China?
