  1. We got an RFE for our marriage license about 6 weeks ago. This absolutely can happen at the London DCF, I can attest to that. Contacting the clerk of the county (in the state of GA at least) was how to go about obtaining a copy. Do this ASAP, as it takes time!

I'm getting so stressed about this! I submitted my petition Dec 24 w/the marriage certificate (because thats all I've ever had!) I'm predicting an RFE so planning ahead but I cannot find any info online about trying to get a copy of the license! Just the certificate... we got married in MYC at city hall so I'm not sure if that makes a difference?? They have a form that you fill out to request marriage records, but I feel like all I'll get is another certified copy of the certificate for $30!

  2. Yes - we applied for the license before we got married & have the certificate, however the checklist for London DCF says they need a copy of the licence IN ADDITION to the certificate.

For all of my UK visa applications, we have only ever needed the certificate in a long form, so thats why I was asking.

I suppose I just write to the City Clerk in NYC and ask for the licence copy as well?

  3. We sent in our I-130 & docs to London Oct 26, 2012 and were approved Dec 10,2012 - this includes getting an RFE for affidavits and a copy of our marriage license, which I suspect slowed us down about 1.5 weeks. This upcoming Monday completes our 5th week of waiting for our case number. I expect, from the holidays & reading others' posts, that we may not get our case number this week. I'm hopeful!

Did you guys get married in the US? I was kind of panicking about the copy of marriage license when I sent off the form because all I've ever had were certified copies of the marriage certificate... with the license number on them. Do you have any idea how to get a copy of the license? We were married in NYC and I've searched all over trying to get an answer. I'm sure I'll get an RFE since I only included a copy of the certificate.

  4. Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and already have found this tool extremely useful! Its so helpful getting answers from those that have gone through the process!

I've recently filed I-130 petition for my UK husband (I am a US citizen w/UK residency) Dec 24. I'm just curious to see how long its taking others and if their timelines are actually accurate? The say they're taking 3 mos to process them but I've been reading others that are processed much faster. I'm sure it varies case by case but I'm curious whether that over estimate waiting times. They alse say plan on 10 mos before relocating, how accurate is that?

Thanks for the advice in advance!
