Hi Guys,
quick question- may seem silly...but I was browsing through Sydney's Consulate reviews..and it seems that everyone aims to be at the consulate around 7:30am..and that no-one really has an assigned interview time? On my letter it says that my interview time is at 8am- so I am a tad confused? Obviously I will aim to be there before 8am...but are there or aren't there assigned times for the interview?

Hey Hampster,

kath
awww sucks...haha but Thanks for that Kath...
-
Hi Guys,
Can anyone tell me if a temp EAD stamp is issued at the LAX POE? As far as I have heard it is only issued at JFK? Anyone know?
Thanks
-
Thanks Kath and hampster..I think I might take a taxi to the consulate from the airport...as I don't want to be rushed for time..I called the consulate yesterday in Syd and they confirmed what you said Kath..I can can leave my luggage at security checkpoint..which is a great relief!!
Hampster- in reagrd to your advice about the medical..I just got that page signed by the doctor,x-ray physician and the person who took my bloods..they didnt write their credentials/date it..as it just said it needed their signature. I hope this is still ok??
-
Thanks so much Kath!! You really are the true definition of a savour! How long will it take to get there? 15 mins you said??
-
Thanks for that Kath..I called a few cab companies to check the price and they said it should be around 30 bucks??? I hope this is true..I just feel like taking a taxi is much easier...my interview time is at 8am...I am not staying at a hotel, but at a friend...and she is unable to pick me up from the airport..and there wont be anytime for her to come and get my luggage from me..I may have to ask a store to look after it for me? Starting to stress a little....

Hi all!
I am starting to freak out a bit as my interview date is slowly creeping up on me.....I have my interview on Thurs, 12th April. I have to fly from Perth to Syd..flight cost me nearly 700 bucks! that's half a one-way ticket to the U.S!!! Anyhow, I booked the cheapest flights possible..which is obviously the red-eye..so I arrive at 6am in Sydney..and my interview is at 8am. Any ideas about what I will do with my luggage..?(obviously I will be going straight from the airport to the consulate) Any Sydney people have any suggestions for me? Anyone know how long it will take to get there via taxi/train??
Thanks all!

Hi Serendipity,
I see you have a few questions about the checklist for the interview and packet 3 etc...I knw Kath told you to check out my posts..but pls PM me if you need any further help..I knw how overwhelming and daunting it can be!
-
Oh...also..I'm sorry to hear that your mom is sick Kath..I hope she gets better very soon!
-
Thanks Kath and girlfrmoz!! Hope I will be able to do everything perfectly and correctly...my head is in a bit of a mush right now..and I don't think I'm going to recover anytime soon..has definitely been stressful...but luckily that part is over!! I am actually going straight from the airport to my interview..so I am going to be exhausted..I dont even knw where/how to begin preparing for the interview...ahhhhhh
Hi Moonie, hang in there. I think you have gone through the worst of it now. It's tough doing the medical, police check and all the forms and then having to wait to see if it's ok. I remember it stressed me to the max. Just think, only the interview to go now. It gets easier once packet 3 is in. Sending you good vibes for a speedy approval!Sorry, Tamzo and Moonie I meant both of you for the above comment jeeze and I haven't even had the anesthetic yet!
-
Hi ALL!
Sorry I have been MIA the past few days..have been extremely stressed and drained the past few days...going to the AFP,having my medical, blood tests, x-rays and gathering everything..as well as booking my flight to the U.S!!! I know I shouldn't have ...because I haven't had my interview yet (April 12th)...but I felt I really needed to..I know there's a risk in that...but I am hoping all runs smoothly at the interview.
Just thought I'd give you guys a little update and goodluck to all everyone, whatever process you're going through
-
Hey guys!
Congrats to all who have been approved...and good luck to those who are still waiting in bated breath...the waiting game, kills...just hang in there!
Elle asked this question recently, but no-one answered so I am going to ask again- how did you guys ship your stuff from Australia --> US?? What's the cheapest and quickest way??
Any input/advice???
-
Kath,
Thanks so much for your reply and your PM- it's really great to have support in here...I will definitely look into that option...it's frustrating that W.A is the only state that doesn't let you go into your local police station for this!!
Thanks again all!

From confused to freaking out...
Hi All,
It's me again:) I am starting to freak out about..maybe I am getting ahead of myself..but I really need some advice, and need to vent a bit. I received Packet 3 last week and have begun getting things in order etc etc. Today, I woke up early to call the Australian Federal Police in Western Australia, to schedule an appointment to get fingerprints and a national police certificate. The lady advised me that the first available appointment they have is April 10th!!! Not only this, but once fingerprints have been done, it takes 12-15 days for the AFP in ACT to process it and send it to Sydney...so..I know I could be getting ahead of myself as I haven't even received ny interview date for Sydney yet- but typically it is approx 4 weeks after receiving packet 3..which means it is even before the first available appointment at AFP!!! Also, even if I get an interview date that is after April 10th (the scheduled AFP appointment) it still takes 12-15 days for them to send it to the US consulate in Sydney!!! So...now what??? There are no other options..as I cannot get this done at any other police stations, here in W.A...it HAS to be done at the AFP. Is the interview date changeable based upon these circumstances that are beyond my control????? Please help!

Hi All,
I apologize for asking so many questions...but I guess that's what this forum is for....I am kind of confused right now. I just received all the forms from the Sydney consulate..and it says we need to fill 2 copies of DS-156 (Non Immigrant Visa Application) online, but then it talks about the DS-156K form.. (Non Immigrant Fiancee Visa Application). Now, I know this sounds silly..but I am a tad confused..I began filling out the DS-156 form online, but then in the middle there are quite a few questions that threw me off...ie: spouse's name..what date do you intend to arrive in the U,S, How long do you intend to stay in the U.S, What's the purpose of your trip etc...so now I'm thinking that this form doesn't apply to us...as we're applying for a K1...Which means we just need to fill out the DS-156K? Is this correct? Sorry for asking what may seem to be a fairly obvious question...but very tired right now, and just needed some clarification! Thanks All and good luck!

Thanks Kath and Ausqueen...I really appreciate your help, you're gems!!! And also in defence ...Kath was extremely helpful and warm to me...so chuckandkim, even though you rightfully apologized...don't be so presumptious next time!!

Hey All,
FINALLY! I can now participate in this forum...I was hoping to get a bit of help from you all. I received Packet 3 today, and from what my letter says..I only need to send the one form (DS-230I) - FYI: My consulate is in Sydney, Australia.
Firstly, I received a notice with the package saying that "As of November 1, 2006 everyone who applies for a non-immigrant visa to the US (including fiance visas) must use the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF). All U.S visa-issuing offices in Australia will no longer accept handwritten forms or any other form that hasn't been filled out using the U.S Dept of State's online system....etc etc " then it tells me to go to http://evisaforms.state.gov/
so here's my question: I went onto the site, and the only downloadable forms are :
DS-156: Nonimmigrant Visa Application
DS-1648: Application for A, G, or NATO Visa (For Applicants Applying in the U.S. Only)
so...do I fill out the DS-230I that they sent to me in the mail (ie: that would be handwritten) ...I am confused, as in the letter they say all forms must be filled in online and then printed out..but DS-230I doesn't feature on this website?
I am very confused!! Secondly, on the DS-230I form, it asks to list the dates of all previous visits to the U.S- I have been to the U.S 7 times in the past 4 years, but they only give us 3 lines to write the dates on? What do you suggest?
Thanks all!!!

Hey All,

On February 13, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.
-----------> I would sincerely and genuinely like to thank each and every one of you...this VJ community is amazing..and it is so imperative and special to know that we're all in the same boat. I wish each and everyone of you luck, and pray for you all that you may receive speedy approvals!!!
-
When you all say that your case has been touched...what does that mean?
Thanks Kabilan
Hi Kabilan,
It literally means your case has been "touched" - that it is being looked at..or it simply has been moved from one person's desk to another...Hope this helps, and good luck!!
-
Do you think 1 touch =RFE, whereas 2 touches in a row= NOA2????
