  1. Hey our Destiny

I hope it was picked up. I think USPS are a little slow with updates. Let me know how it goes. Also since our timelines are the same please let me know when you get a email from USCIS. I am estimating sometime tomorrow judging by other people's time lines if not early next week for a receipt number. I will let you know if I hear anything.

Did anyone here go thru biometrics yet? And if so, what do they do at the appt.

  2. Hi there, I am sure that it has to be a glitch in the system and that USCIS has your paperwork already....try not to worry, it will all work out. I know, easier said than done right?.....I am already neurotic about the whole thing but it makes more sense to me that someone at USPS hasn't pressed a button on their hand helding signey thing, than a government department not picking up their daily mail smile.png

i will try not to worry about. Thanks for the encouragement.wink.png

  3. My fiance had his medical Sept 3 at Medical Associates Hospital for Dr Michael Banbury in Kingston. They told him the exam would cost $120 but bring $300 in case he needs any immunizations. He had his original immunization record from when he was a baby. They told him he needed 4 immunizations and charged an additional $160. $40 per immunization? Has anyone heard of this? There was even some other additional thing they charged him for and he even had to go to the bank and pull a little more money out to pay them. So they got the whole $300. Frustrating they say upfront how much to bring and since they know you have it, they find ways to take it all. I'm happy for those who didn't have such a negative experience.

By the way, congrats VJ on your upcoming interview and best of luck as well

Woops! I congratulated VJ and it's Our Destiny that I meant to congratulate

Thanks Shelsgirl smile.png Lol. But yea. Hes suppose to pick up the medical record today. They told him the same thing about $300 he should bring. However, he more than enough to cover all the expenses incurred for medical day. Nothing more. He spent about $250 and had a little something left over.

And i agree with you about them knowing you have $300 so they try to tax you on something. Like for instance , he did the eye exam and i think one of his eye is slightly bad per him. So the lady said don't worry i got you covered so he slipped her like $2000- 3000JMD, if Im not mistaken. So i completely understand what you went thru,

overall he got 3 shots and that's including him bringing the immunization card.

  4. Listen - I am Jamaican with a Jamaican fiance and I get the same thing once in a while. The reason I don't get it more often is because I keep people out of our business which is key in any relationship. One thing I have learned and that I try to emulate is that my relationship is my business. Its nice to share with other people but only me and my fiance know our relationship and anyone that has anything negative to say about it can butt out. You need to be confident in your relationship to overcome the sterotypes but I can tell you that there are some wonderful men in Jamaica (I have plenty in my family) and if you believe that you have found one keep him. Don't worry about everyone else cuz misery loves company. Keep your business to yourself and only share with people who want only the very best for you and your husband. Marriage is sacred, treat it and keep it that way.

I definitely agree with you. I too am in the same thoughts as you. Only share with people that means you well. I love him and he loves me and that's all that matters. If theres an issue that will arrive...well i guess then we deal with it when we cross that bridge.Cant allow myself to think negative and have all this bad energy swarming my relationship. Its unhealthy

  5. I understand your frustration. I was in AP in JA for 11 weeks. It took a congressional inquiry for our case to see movement. We were approved at the interview and my fiance recieved the green stub with DHL sheet. (by the way when my fiance arrived a green stub was stapled to his passport). So don't worry, if the CO said approved and took the passport it is coming. Do not stress over whether or not they will issue the visa. If they approved it, unless your documents are fake or your fiance has a criminal past or there were fraudulent statements made in any of the immigrant forms you will be good. It is very frustrating. All you can do is try to remain patient, keep your faith in God (this really helped me calm my emotions..PRAY), and keep yourself busy with friends and family. Use the time to prepare for your marriage and AOS. I can tell you from our experience I had over 9 CEAC updates some related to email some not. Keep track of everything. I would say unless there is some outstanding question they are not answering, wait till you get closer to the 60 day mark and then contact your congressperson or senator and speak with their staffed immigration specialist.

I hope you hear something soon. It does look like the embassy is moving alot faster than they were. I know you want this to be over. It is completely frustrating being a US Citizen and having no rights when it comes to this process. You are completly at the mercy of the US Embassy. I would say if it helps you, write a letter to the ambassdor (be pleasant and polite). I feel if enough people express their concerns over how inefficient the Jamaican embassy is, someone will take actions. At the end of the day they may have deciding power over who they issue visas to, but they are still required to be efficient because they are being paid by American tax dollars and their budgets are set by Congress.

Hey BeanCamo do you happen to have the email for the ambassador? I am helping another VJ member who is in AP as well but we are unable to locate the email for Pamela Bridgewater (Jamaica ambassador). Your help is much appreciated.

  6. Hey hun,

I emailed KingstonIVappointment@state.gov and KingstonIV@state.gov at the same time. You should have received an response by now considering you sent your DS230 around the same time as me. I sent 3 emails within the time frame alloted for them to respond but the last email got them moving. See below. Also make sure your put URGENT 2nd Request with your case number

    To whom it may concern:
I have sent 2 emails thus far requesting an scheduled interview date. And I have not received a response email that has confirmed my DS230 form, Part 1 was received. Can someone please assist me in scheduling my interview date? All I am getting is autoresponse that I will receive an response within 5 working days. And I have waited close to two weeks for some recognition of my emails. Your help is much appreciated.
Please see attached my DS230 form, Part 1 for your convenience. Our case number is as follows:
    KNG2013XXXXXX
    Beneficiary: Fiance Full Name
    Date of Birth:
    Petitoner: My Full Name

  7. Ok update - fiancé went to do his medical today at MoBay Hope. He didn't need any additional shots so all he paid was the $120 for the medical. If your fiancé finds his immunization card it's best he get it checked out at a clinic and get whatever else shots he needs before the actual medical. My fiancé was able to get his shots at a clinic in Hanover for free. Hope this helps!

Thanks JSC. He found his immunization card. But he didnt get to have someone review it. I will try to see if he can. But as for getting shot before the medical, i heard some stories that sometimes the appointed doctors dont accept the recent shots. However i will see if he can get it for free as well.

  8. Hi my VJ family,

If my fiance does his medical without his immunization records, how much will he have to pay to receive all shots needed including the fee? Also we have our medical Sept 2nd and interview Sept 13th is that enough time for embassy to receive the results? i know they said 10 days prior but it will be exactly 10 days on interview day. All advice is helpful. smile.png

P.S. - his medical will be done at Mobay Hope

  9. YAY!!! I think someone leaked our complaints because I've seen a few approvals from JA the past couple of days! Now we gotta get our fiances prepped for the 2nd half then home-run to the states!!!

Yes i think they did. Consequently after speaking to ombudsman office and calling back my congressman earlier in the day. I received my approval in the night. I was shocked and caught off-guard when i saw it. My congressman told me, he will call me in the morning and was sure that he will get a response about my case from VSC. And the rep at the Ombudsman office told me i still have within 60 days (which would be Aug 20) before hearing a response. But I am happy and grateful that my persistance and efforts did not fall on deaf ears. Because I surely was becoming weary of this whole process. Seeing those approved around my NOA1 date and way after, made me have mixed emotions.

I agree.Moving on and forward to the next phase in this visa journey. Looking forward to having my honey home soon
