  1. Changed my address to my new place in Columbus today. I am going to call tomorrow and talk to an ISO to confirm the address change and insist that my file be transferred from ATL immediately. I will then ask to have my file placed at the top of the Columbus pile as I have already been waiting much longer than most all the Columbus cases have taken to process. (columbus seems to be taking about 2.5-3 months for approval). I hope I can convince the ISO to transfer my file immediately.

Is it normal policy to change the local office based on address change or are you just hoping they will do that? and is the columbus office processing faster?

Just a real quick update :)

I have typed out the letters I will send to both the director and the field office director. I will try and clean up the inquiry tomorrow at work see what I can do. If not I will go ahead and mail these letters to both of them.

    Any update for you guys?

I will be mailing the letters tomorrow as well, although they may not carry as much weight since my case is not that old yet.

  2. My I-130 petition has gone to atlanta, where it seems processing has not even started for August 2012 cases. My Priority date is at end of Nov..I don't know when they will process my I-130 if august has not been touched yet.

Does it make sense to file a K3 in this situation? Would the K3 also not go to atlanta or is it processed elsewhere? Is there any disadvantage to filing a K3 while my I-130 is also in the system?

  3. So I went this morning to the infopass... and just like we thought, they have NOT BEGUN PROCESSING ANY OF THE I-130's transferred from Missouri. I filled out an inquiry application thingy and attached two pages of handwritten letter.

ALL OF US PETITIONERS need to write letters to the field office director asap. Sorry for the caps, but this is insane!

I will add more details later this evening or tomorrow, and I'll try to attach a scan of their inquiry application form so you guys can print it out and send in with your letters.

This is insane...one doesn't expect things to work this way in US. Exactly what are they waiting for to get started?

Please do provide that info, I will also send in an inquiry application.

  4. Just called uscis, and asked if my case is still at NBC or local office, CSR said she does not have that info, asked for transfer and after an hour of wait the ISO told me my case was transferred to Atlanta field office on Jan 4th. Last time I called an ISO said my case would most likely not be transferred. Don't know what it all means and wife's patience is running out, I might just move to pakistan until visa comes.

    edit: fixed ISO and CSR

  5. You can:

    (1) File as "Married Filing Separately" - no further evidence would be required.

    (2) File as "Married Filing Jointly" and attach an application for an ITIN for your wife to the return. You will need to file by mail this first time, but would be able to do so electronically in subsequent years after the ITIN is issued.

Are you sure about option 1? I am doing "Married Filing Separately" through TurboTax and it's showing me missing spouse SS as an error.

  6. Hang in there, guys. NBC is really fast. I love NBC. :D

Looking at Igor's list for every case that's been done, there are a ton that are still pending so I am not getting my hopes up too much. My projected Noa2 date is around Feb2 but I am guessing this is calculated by the avg time of cases at NBC which already got NOA2 and doesn't factor in the pending cases. So my own realistic estimate is more like April for NOA2, I hope I am wrong.

  7. For I-130s filed on or after 15th August 2012, they are all forwarded from the NBC to the local field office having jurisdiction over the petitioner's place of residence: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=c3c7ca7c5fed9310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=e7801c2c9be44210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

I called today and ISO said for cases where spouse is out of the country they keep the cases at MSC and if spouse is in US it is forwarded to local office

  8. Another November filer approved:

    NOA1 November 1

    NOA2 December 12

    :wow:

    :wow: indeed

I called today and ISO said my case was in "initial review," and when asked if it will be sent to a local office she said most probably not since my spouse is out of the country. Does anyone know if initial review means someone is actively working on it or could it also mean it's just waiting for someone to start looking at it?

  9. My priority date is 11/26 (recieved NOA1 hard copy, only update I have gotten so far). Haven't been able to see the case status online  Kind of nervous about not having submitted enough evidence of bonafide marriage, however the marriage is so new we don't really have much intermingling of finances etc to show as evidence.

My case was submitted through a lawyer so I didn't even know I could add my phone/email to get updates about case that way. Is there any way I could get these added now?

  10. Those cases filed after mid August have been transferred to the National Benefits Center. These cases are being approved very quickly. If you see people with CSC in their timelines for September it is likely that they were initially assigned to CSC and then the case was transferred to MSC (National Benefits Center).

I just receievd my NOA1 with an MSC number, does this mean I will receieve my NOA2 relatively quickly?

  11. I filed for my wife's I-130 recently (Nov 26). I have a few questions:

    1. I recieved the receipt for my petition with a receipt number starting with MSC, which when I enter at USCIS website to check my case status, I get the following message

Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

    2. I did not enter an email address on my application, how can I add an email address to my case now to receieve email alerts of any updates.

    3. When my case is transfered from NBC to a local facility, will they send me a letter to inform of this?

    4. I checked online and normal time to get NOA2 seems to be 5 months and I see some people who received it in lesser time as well, my lawyer told me to expect 6-8 months processing delay, what is the current avergae processing time.

    thanks!
