  1. Really???? Finally someone got a case number!!! Can you please tell us how? Did you call or something?? Congrats!

I called today at around 1 or 2pm and they hadn't received it. Then I called at 11pm & I got the great news that they received it today AND assigned a case number. I know many of you must have also been assigned a number late Friday night too!!!! I had asked my Congressman for help. I'm not sure if it helped because I haven't heard from his office recently. However, he had inquired when it was first transferred for me!

Thank you guys for all your support. I have my fingers crossed for you!

  2. Wow! What time did you call?

I called at 4pm and they didn't have my case and mine was sent on July 10th too. Maybe Monday!

    Thanks for the update!

I called about 11PM tonight & they said they had processed it today! However, I called today around 1 or 2pm and they said they hadn't received it. I bet yours has a case number now!!!

  3. Got this notice!!! I have been in contact with my congressman, but it's unclear if they had actually inquired into my case.

"On July 10, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."

Also I got no e-mail or text. I just randomly checked, and it was there now. I checked earlier about 2 hours ago, and it didn't say this.

Correction I did JUST get an e-mail timed 11:45PM EST, but no text. Hopefully it will get there quickly! There must be more notices from tonight!!!

  5. The number is 202 663 1225. Generally they are better to call than the NVC, as they can see the bigger picture, it's quicker to get through and most people have said they're a lot friendlier and more helpful.

I don't get why CSC and VSC are still getting them quickly and we aren't, especially as we were transferred due to being out of processing time. Our congressman's office told us they'd forwarded our concerns onto the TSC, and we've heard nothing as of yet.

Thanks for the number. I'll start trying to call them next week, just to mix things up. lol

  6. It seems that everyone is getting the same either 30 to 60 days or 8 weeks response. I just received my approval on 6/28 and I am not sure if I should start calling them after the responses you all have been getting. However, I have to change the address for beneficiary while the file is at NVC so I guess my best bet would be to keep calling them every day in case they receive it early and send it out (being optimistic here smile.png )

Hi Pacharya! For Australia, you don't really need to update the beneficiary's address unless you just really want to. They e-mail packet 3 and 4, so it doesn't need to be updated for that. And for when they mail you back your passport, they used the pre-addressed envelope you supply at the interview. I have read on the regional forum to bring an updated G-325A just in case if you want. Any way, do what makes you feel comfortable. I just wanted to let you know in case you were stressing about it! :)

  7. We just got off the phone to the Department of State. They told us it's still a bit early, and generally it takes 30-60 days, although the average at the moment is around 30 days and to call back next week.

What number do you call for the Dept of State? Do they have any additional info? I also heard back from my senator's office and they said:

"I have checked with the National Visa Center. They tell me that it has not been received in as yet. Because both the immigration service center is so far behind and the NVC is trying to catch up I have been told it could be up to 8 weeks before they get it. "

Doesn't really make sense though because people from CSC ad VSC are getting their numbers who have NOA2's after many of us.

  8. No I didnt hear anything else about him, the lady doctor covering for him at the moment just said they were very busy as she has double the work load. Maybe try call again this week, but even still I think your best bet for an appointment within in the next month would be to go interstate for a doctor. On the other hand, you can still get a consulate interview without a medical so you can still send in your packet 3 and if they give you an interview in say August then you will most likely be able to get a Sydney medical done by then too.

Thanks for the info! Dr. R's office is now being really strict about booking without a case number yet, so I'm hoping we get our case number this week so we can see what the booking situation is in Sydney. The receptionist wouldn't tell us a lot of info on openings without a number. If we can't get any movement/additional info this week, then it's definitely going to be an interstate doctor.

  9. Got my medical done finally! Glad to have that out of the way, now I can anxiously await my interview in 3 weeks. I feel like this is by far the most stressful bit waiting for judgement day lol.

Yay! Congrats! Did you happen to hear anything about Dr. Waks? Such as he's going to be out for a long time @ the backup will be continued?

  10. Yes, they do need fingerprints. You will be requested to get a police check with fingerprints later if you don't do it now. I'm not sure about Adelaide, but my fiancé had to go to 2 police stations in order to find someone who knew what they were doing in Sydney. The first one said to give them ALL the documents in packet 3. Lol We left, and went to another station who knew the protocol. The form is online. I can't remember it exactly but I know it's posted in the pinned thread at the top of this forum.

  11. Wow 8 weeks! that is crazy, I'd definitely try Melbourne or Brisbane although the additional cost of that is very unfair to you. What an unefficient system to have a state of 8 million people and only one doctor to serve any potential US immigrant! I got my packet 4 today 6 days after sending in my packet 3, that was super fast! However they have offered me 30th of July as an interview date! I think I'll definitey write the consulate and ask for one sooner, 5 weeks is a long wait.

Well at least there is hope after Packet 3! That's awesome that they sent you packet 4 already. July 30 is a long wait, but either way, congrats on almost being done with the pre-visa process!!!

FYI, my fiance called around to see what the wait was with other doctors. In Melb and Brisbane it was only 1 week but in Cairns it was ONE DAY! ONE FREAKING DAY! ok, I'm done venting. I just had to share.

  12. At the moment no one can book Dr.Waks this is the second time in a month he has had time off and cancelled all appointments. Because I booked my medical over 5 weeks ago and went insane over the phone to their receptionist over them making no effort to contact me or reallocate an appointment to me, I managed to get an appointment this Friday. However, given there will now only be one doctor for all visa medicals in NSW I'd say their backlog will be quite substantial. When I booked in May the wait time was around 4-5 weeks. If you don't have your case number yet, book anyway, as you will probably have it by the time you actually get an appointment. Best of luck!

He called this morning and now I understand what you were saying about 3 weeks. They are really not even taking appointments, even for 8 weeks out! That is so insane! The receptionist said to call back next week & maybe she would be able to book something for the future. Omg, can you call and go insane on the phone for us? lol jk We are considering maybe flying to Melb or Brisbane if we can't even schedule next week.

Thank you for the valuable info! He's going to be calling in a few hours, so fingers crossed his appointment won't be outrageously far out. Good job getting an appointment this Friday!

  14. Thanks for clarifying! That was what I thought :) Good luck on your upcoming interview!

No they do them every Tuesday of the month, in the mornings only. If you look around on the Australian K-1 timelines you will see that there are people getting interviewed pretty much every Tuesday. Good thing is at the moment they seem to be moving pretty quickly, most people in June have gotten a reply to their packet 3 within 2 weeks and their interviews withing 3 weeks of that.

  15. Just a warning about the Sydney Medical, the doctor has spontaneously gone for 3 weeks and all appointments have been cancelled, the medical centre probably won't have contacted you, they never contacted me and they have 3 phone numbers and an email for me and I didn't find out my appointment was cancelled untill I rang to confirm my appointment for the 4th time 2 days before my scheduled medical... So much service for $420!

That is really horrible! I can't believe that!!! Have you tried the other Sydney doctor (Dr. Rappaport)? If you do, can you let us know how that goes. My fiance is hoping to get in with someone for the medical in 3 weeks and will be calling on Monday. I told him to try Dr. Waks, since I didn't find any other information on Dr. Rappaport, but he may just want to avoid Dr. Waks.

  16. Hi VJ family! My congressman's representative e-mailed me on my NOA2 day letting me know what to expect next. At the end of the email it said "Interview dates are scheduled the second week of each month, so you might have a bit of a wait. They are allowed to schedule only a certain number of fiancé interviews per month."

I know the Sydney consulate schedules K-1 interviews on Tuesdays, but is it really once a month?

    Thanks for clarification!
