  1. My fiancee and I were also using Yahoo messenger but stopped a few months ago as it started dropping our messages too :(. Glad to see we weren't the only ones with technical difficulties! We've since switched to Facebook messaging. Not as convenient IMO, but more reliable.

  2. It's gonna be a long winter without my fiancee, so I picked up Halo 4 and plan on shooting as many enemies as I can until I can return to Manila to get her. If anyone wants to join an online party my gamer tag is "NO LA BLING"

  3. Congrats on your new adventure in life. You are your ex have split and there are children involved. But children are smart and want to see you happy. Your ex-wife would to I would hope. Divorce is so common but does not mean your life is over. You would agree some couples stay together just for the children and can't wait to split when their old enough to get out of the house. Go forward with your love for your children and your future wife. How could you question that? (The only thing that could affect that is if you still have a passion for your ex) So, treat your new wife as a welcome to the family.

No old feelings for my ex at all. She re-married a few years ago.

  4. Hello everyone! It is nice to see a community of people here for what is a strange and complex waiting process. I personally have never been through anything quite like this in my life before - and the adventure is just beginning!

My name is Mike and I'm from South Dakota. My fiancee Shai lives in Manila now and her family is from Oriental Mindoro. We met on internationalcupid.com back in May 2012 and became very interested in one another. I asked her to become my girlfriend in late June and I eagerly prepared for my trip to the Philippines in early September. It was my first time ever overseas!

She met me in Tagaytay on Sept 1st and we vacationed there, accompanied by her cousin and mom. We had a wonderful time and it soon became apparent that she is everything I could have hoped she would be, and I would be insane to let a wonderful woman like this get away. After asking her parents' permission, I proposed to her at Picnic Grove in the Philippines. I caught her off guard, riding the zipline (hence our username :) ) there and getting down on one knee to propose and she accepted! We continued to have a wonderful time in the Philippines and had an engagement party at her home in Mindoro. We also spent some time at the Coco Beach resort in Puerto Galera and returned to Manila. Our love and faith in each other is profound. I sadly left the Philippines on Sept 16 2012 and we are working on the K1 Visa now. I just got my I797C Notice of Action in the mail today and had many questions about the timelines of Visa processing and subsequently found this forum. Shai and I are working with the assistance of Fil Am Immigrations to obtain her visa.

Also I have two daughters from a previous marriage and they are now 13 and 11. They were in school and not able to take the trip to the Philippines with me and it would probably be difficult to get them out of the country since I share joint legal custody with my ex. Anyway, they are wonderful girls but it is difficult that they haven't been able to get to know the woman I love so very much. My patience is being tested but I know I have good friends and family to lean on.

Glad to see the posts on this forum and reading some of these timelines is helpful. Will look at some of the threads on this forum before I start posting silly or obvious questions. Thanks for reading!

    Mike
