  1. you know section 9 B and section 10B on the SS-5 form......do i really tick unknown?....it seems a bit odd.

instructions seem to say so though

9.B., 10.B. If you are applying for an original Social Security card for a child under age 18, you MUST
show the parents' Social Security numbers unless the parent was never assigned a Social Security
number. If the number is not known and you cannot obtain it, check the “unknown” box.

it has the exact same amount of boxes as a national insurance number....but i don't suppose i put both parents national security numbers into these boxes?

  2. Good luck for you again. I live in Texas and know the marriage rules.

So did you get the license while you went the first time or just bring the application home? Anyway, as explained to me at the county clerk's office--if you have a Social Security number, then you must give it on the form. If you don't have a SSN, then not required. Both people present photo ID. You can get a marriage license with only your passport. She can use a TX driver license or her passport.

You must have the license 36 hours before the wedding. If you don't have it yet, then hurry up.

After the wedding, get the minister or officiant to sign the license and give it back to you. Most offer to mail it in. You take care of it yourselves. Go in person back to the county clerks office to turn it in. Tell them you will wait while they record it and prepare your marriage certificate. Ask for a certified copy. That is what you will photocopy for your immigration forms. It will have a stamp or seal from the county on it.

Get your social security number as soon as you can. It is not needed to marry or file for your greencard, but is useful to have. If you wait too long, they won't give you one until you have your work authorization card or greencard.

Thank you...that puts the anxiety down somewhat.....yes heres wgat happened: we went in to the license building and for some reason after dealing with two people and paying for it....we then left....without a certificate........they then phoned the house who then phoned the van that was coming to pick us up....and then we had to go back in through security a second time.....and then emerged a second time with a license certificate.....i dont think our heads are fully screwed on. EDIT: seem to have typed that in the last message.

Although to be fair we both left the building believing it was time to leave and with the best possibly intentions.

    but.....moving on :)

    thank you....yep not long now!

  3. Well we make a good team because I was a teacher and spent 3 years working with only slow learners and learning disabilities. I can tell you are sincere, gracious, and in need of help is why I do this for you.

you remind me very much of one of my dads friends who just keeps on surprising us and who is a really amazing person.

i'm in TX now .....T Minus 6 days on wedding..........but am a bit concerned about something thats happened....my father in law (well soon to be father in law) seemed to drive us to the marrige licencing place very shortly after i arrived.....now on the instructions that i'm looking at today.....well firstly on the forms we filled in at the marrige and licencing building they asked for both mine and hers SS numbers....but i at this point did not have one (still dont but have about 97% of the form filled in).....and on your instructions it says the very first thing i'm meant to do is get a SS number......i was actually doing that right away at 7am today.......we;re actually both learning difficulties....... and i dont think our heads are quite screwed on at the moment....or ever......but yep, i'm quite concerned that maybe that form needed that number....however we did ask a woman and she said it wasn;t important....but of course i'm not really happy with her answer in retrospect...well i wasn;t happy at the time iether......for some reason.

i feel really bad about this actually.

is it a major mistake or....

  4. This is very, very good :) :) :) it really is understandable.

Thank you for this. It does now appear that in school reports (found some) there is evidence that teachers....and definitely a majority of teachers..... wrote about how i was slow and struggled....but anyway.

  5. It even tells you on the guide, with a box around it that you will not get one by filling out that DS-230, Part 2.

I read that part with the box many, many times before i made my post.....the post also took a long time to write.

i thought a lot about posting this and didn't know to do so or not....but i think communication is important. i have some problems in understanding a lot of....well, everything. There are so many things on all of these forms I don't understand even when its explained to me....which is, frustrating for everybody around me.

  6. On form DS-230 part II….. page 4 of 4………..it asked a question about SSN.
The exact words on this form I filled out where on Page 4 of 4……. At section 43a
Q: Have you ever applied for a Social Security number (SSN)
    A: No
The exact words at 43a were the following……."Do you want the Social Security Administration to assign you a SSN and issue a card? (You must answer YES to question 43b to receive a number and card)
I then went onto 43b.....and said yes to 43b….
    ….43b says……..
43b I authorize disclosure of information from this form to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the Social Security Administration (SSA), such other U.S Government agencies as may be required for the purpose of assigning me an SSN and issuing me a Social Security card, and I authorize the SSA to share my SSN with the INS
    A: Yes
The applicants response does not limit or restrict the governments ability to obtain his or her SSN, or other information on this form, for enforcement or other purposes as authorized by law.
Now I know and did read about it on this page here where there was something written that was similar but not quit the same or in the same detail
…do I just disregard what I filled in on form DS-230 part II page 4 of 4 in section 43a and 43b and proceed to fill in this form here? http://www.socialsecurity.gov/online/ss-5.pdf like visajourney says or have i got hold of the wrong end of the stick?....it doesn;t look the wrong end of the stick but also my form expires in 2015...whereas the one on visajourney expires on 2007...meaning the form itself may have been printed in 2005.
  7. Thank you LeftCoastLady and Nich-Nick.

I had to back away for a bit there because I became very, very ill....i spose just too many things going on at once.

I'm now back onto it..... but as per usual have ten million questions.

  8. thank you...sorry about delay on reply here

We had a serious and scary family medical emergency (my father) and i'm now very, very exhausted.

the passport arrived yesterday with the do not open package.........i'm still really confused on what happens next.

i don't understand the deadlines.....i know that once i enter USA i have 90 days to marry.....but what is my deadline on the AOS?.....i have always believed it to be 90 days ......and that it should be done and sent away in the post ASAP right after getting married....but is that incorrect?.....my dad is telling me that there is no deadline on AOS. I don't honestly believe it...but i'm not sure what to believe.

I've heard lawyers on youtube talking about K1 and saying that if you rush it looks bad...and if you take too long it looks bad.....

at the moment we have made a plan (last night) to enter on the 13th of June and get married on the 22nd of June......but i don't know if that is a good idea or not.We had no plan at all with dates until last night....there was no wedding date set until last...

the visa itself page inside the passport itself looks like the page that show people at airports....when i start my journey do i make sure that i show everybody at every airport start to finish the visa or just the port of entry airport?...

  9. Thank you....you are and continue to be a incredible and life saving help in all of this.

should i chase up why NVC didn't send out a letter to the Petitioner...or is that something that no longer happens?......I've read that the Petitioner is meant to get a letter when the case is sent from NVC to the London US Embassy....but she did not receive anything.

  10. Thanks...yep we've got that in USA...i reckon i need to get the petitioner to put it into a firebox.

I'm back from London......K1 Visa was approved. ohmy.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png

i'm going onto AOS things now.

  11. I think two piles of emails is excessive, but suit yourself. I would bet money that they don't want to see anything like that.

That NOA 2 is very, very important for your AOS. Don't lose it. It is not needed for the interview. Again, not on the list.

    I don't understand what the NOA 2 is....I have a NOA 1........ but not a NOA 2.

well each pile has about....one one pile has about 11 emails and the other maybe 6.

  12. just very quickly cause its a bit late....but am not gone....but am preparing / printing lots of emails.....yes... petitioners father has done a letter saying that we are still engaged and still want to marry....but its not notorised...dont know if thats a problem or not.....it also says in it that hes still willing to be a sponsor.....its a bit out of date though no?.....with it being dated April 21st ?....hmmmm...not sure....not sure if that is too old or not but will take it along anyway.

but yes been working away on it hard....i definitely wasn't finished and your post when i read "99/100 times they will not look at this. Since your petition is expired and you got off-track, they may actually want to see some of this." got me busy printing emails....i have two piles of them...one labeled April and one May..

birth certificate is long version not short version.
need to get US sized passport photos.

    thanks.

  13. Yes and yes....i did that a while back.

Yes i think i have everything. Many thanks for everything you and the people have done on here. it is actually quite a wonderful place.

  16. Thank you Nich Nick....this is very clearly presented what you have posted in here....many thanks!...........yep the receipt is now printed....but was printed in Black and White....but i would imagine that doesn't matter?...though colour is nice....hmmm......but, do i have to do a copy of it and get them to give the original ink signature back to me?

  17. What is your question exactly? They will extend the validity of your petition approval, so that is not a problem.

    thank you :)

my question is mainly about concern and worry that it has all gone wrong.

  18. Yes, you'll need to bring a copy of the MRV receipt with you to the interview. Who paid the visa fee -- you or the USC? The receipt would have been emailed with a PDF attached. You (the visa applicant) would need to print and sign it.

just found it now.....after i read what you said it took me a while but i suddenly remembered that they did indeed send me two emails.......and one does indeed have a pdf attachment ....wow, I cannot believe I have not printed this out until now......it was in a 14 minute video that i watched on youtube about preparing for the interview that they said about the receipt that i watched a lot about a week ago..... ...but i didn't understand what they meant exactly...you are a life saver!....if i had gone there without this what would have happened do you reckon?.....thank you.

  19. Do they care about a receipt of the payment of the interview?....because I don't have one of those....however, it's written on a bank statement that ive printed out and will be taking.

OCTOBER 15th 2012 - NOTICE DATE…..a I-797 Approval Notice arrives at the Petitioners home from USCIS telling us that our petition has been approved….and that its valid from October 15th 2012 to February 14th 2013.

JANUARY 11th 2013 - Got concerned because of nothing arriving in the post so decided to contact NVC. They wrote back and told me what my case number was and that my case had been sent to London US Embassy.

JANUARY 14th 2013 - Posted the forms for the ACPO Police Certificate.

JANUARY 29th 2013 - Very concerned because of two things 1) Approval Notice is going to expire soon. 2) No letter from London US Embassy. Contacted London US Embassy for the first time...was told they had sent a letter to me at the end of October 2012...this letter never arrived at Beneficiary's home. I was told by the advice helpline to get my Fiancée to make a second letter of intent to marry and to get it notarised and sent to London US Embassy ASAP…this letter was sent to Immigration Branch, 5 Upper Grosvenor, London, W1A 2JB….was also told to download and fill in forms DS-230 Part I & II, DS 2001, DS-156, DS-157, DS-156-K

COMMENT: I would just like to say at this point that I don’t blame the Embassy for this...how can I?…conjecture is conjecture…..it was either lost by The Post Office or The Embassy….or a dog ate it….we will never know….the statement from a woman on the telephone when I dialed 09042-450-100 said that it was mailed to the Beneficiary’s home…..but, this was officially the start of great confusion and upset. I am partly to blame too for not contacting them sooner….but I honestly believed that it would come at the end of the four months because the approval notice had come exactly six months right down to the wire….I believed also that it was going to be a combined medical appointment and interview appointment all done inside one day….and I was ready with my police certificate, passport photos and was about to pick up my certified birth certificate….which would happen on February 1st.

JANUARY 30th 2013 - A Notarized letter of Intent to marry is created by Petitioner in USA, TX and sent to London US Embassy. It is sent to Immigration Branch, 5 Upper Grosvenor, London, W1A 2JB

FEBRUARY 28th 2013 - First ever letter arrived from London US Embassy dated 22 FEB 2013 arrives at Beneficiary's home in Scotland, UK referring to a previous communication that did not arrive and telling me that I have never contacted them….it asks me if I still want to proceed with an application for a non-immigrant visa to marry and reside in the United States.

FEBRUARY 28th 2013 - Much confusion and upset so phoned London US Embassy to tell them about the letter. Told them that I never received the first letter. Was given a AUTHORISATION CODE: ******** and told to email londonconsular@state.gov and say what had happened. I did this straight away.

MARCH 4th 2013 - Email arrived from Consular Information Unit U.S. Embassy, London saying“It can take 6-8 weeks for documents to be received and registered on an individual applicant’s file. The letter you received was automatically generated since it has been more than 4 months from the date of our initial letter. If you have already submitted the required documents, you should disregard that letter. As soon as the required documents are receive and registered, an interview will be scheduled for you.”

MARCH ?? 2013 - Phoned to make a appointment for the medical. Medical will take place 10th of April at 4 Bentinck Mansions Knightbridge Doctors in London

APRIL 10th 2013 - MEDICAL DAY - Had the medical at 4 Bentinck Mansions Knightbridge Doctors in London.

APRIL 23rd 2013 - Confusion as to what is going on so emailed using the AUTHORISATION CODE: ********...but it bounced back and said “THIS IS AN AUTOMATED REPLY. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL. Your e-mail was deleted without being read.”

APRIL 24th 2013 - Phoned the London US Embassy to ask what to do next because still had not heard anything….they told me that I had contacted them and told them I didn’t want to continue in FEBRUARY. We were gobsmacked and very confused and upset. I was also told that my medical and forms had made it….we then went on to pay for a interview.

APRIL 26th 2013 - I receive a email from the AUTHORISATION CODE: ******** saying “Embassy records show that the Immigrant Visa Unit is in receipt of your medical examination. A new appointment has been scheduled for you on ******************* A letter confirming the date and time of the appointment was sent to you on April 24.”

APRIL 27th 2013 - I receive a letter confirming the date for the interview appointment. This is the second letter from the embassy to arrive ever.
