  1. Conrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

    GOD is soooooooooo good.

So my dear VJers, I am extra happy right now  . The funny thing is my senators immigration representative just called me ( Jeff Flake) to say "Sorry there is nothing I can do to help you, in my experience you just have to wait in line with everyone...blah blah blah " she didn't even ask me if I wanted an expedite or to try getting a service request in. In essence she didn't care. I said 'Thank you' and hung up. Oh well, at the end of the call my phone buzzes and my approval came. GOD is good.

Good luck to everyone still waiting, yours is on its way.

  2. Congrats!!!

-P-R-O-V-E-D :) :)....I though the title might get your attention!:dance::dance:

I just want to give praise to God because after 9 months on this journey my husband is coming home! To be honest the journey wasn't always easy but at the same time it was easy because we had God on our side! I just want to say thank you to everyone here that offered advice, prayers and support on this journey. I have written a review for those that would like to know how it went...I told you all 2 years ago when I first joined vj that I wasn't going anywhere b/c I knew that God would not allow Lagos to triumph over us...Lagos be a small ting o! Be blessed..if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask...I want to help you along the way just as I was helped! Tata!

  3. I Just wanted to know, I was born 1979. The birth certificate I have is the Attestation of birth and declaration of Age. Will CO accept this or will there be a problem. I was just told by someone that i need the computerized certificate. I obtain my birth certificate from National Population commission.

    So confuse.

    read this on the internet.

NIGERIA - Birth and Death Certificates

Generally available, particularly for events occurring after 1970. Registration of births and deaths is compulsory in Lagos. The National Population Commission issues birth certificates for births after 1992.

For Lagos records, certified copies of records for dates ending with 1979 can be obtained at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. For records after 1979, contact the local government that issued the original certificate directly. Most births and deaths outside of Lagos are also registered at the time of the event. Applicants can obtain certified true copies of certificates directly from the local government. Alternatively, acceptable identity/parentage documents are infant baptismal certificates and hospital or maternity clinic records of birth. Home births are rare in Nigeria and medical records are available in most cases. Affidavits may be acceptable as substitutes for documents for those born outside Lagos prior to 1960 or born in the eastern part of Nigeria in the 1960's at the time of the Biafran War, when presented in combination with convincing secondary evidence of relationship.

    [/qu

Visit the Population Commission office in your state of birth and obtain a birth certificate. Go with your age declaration and two passport photographs and take some money to get it paid for. I paid N3,500 in my state of birth Cross River and do not know how much it will cost in your state. This is the only birth certificate that is acceptable by the embassy. Goodluck!

  4. Lord I can't believe I am at this stage actually asking this question.

Okay i need to hear from those who have had interviewed lately. I hear that you can't take any kind of briefcase, suitcase, carry on nothing. You have to hand carry everything.

I have about 4- 4inch binders and a large accordion folder my husband will have and well frankly that needs a briefcase.

    So whats going on now?

Hi Dwheels, i will advice dat he takes a big nylon to the interview to put his stuffs in. I went with a pull behind box filled up with documents and to my greatest dismay i was told by security even before i got to the gate dat i will not be allowed to go in with the box, i even went ahead to explain to them that i had loads of documents and couldn't carry it by hand and they insisted that i take everything out of the box and hand carry it. I was at the point of tears when i walked in with all the documents i had, other people who were also there for the interview were looking at me funny as if to say 'What's she doing with all this documents?' I realised people barely carried loads of evidence. Luckily while i was thinking of what to do, i looked into my bag and found the 70naira nylon i had bought to put my xray in after my medicals. I walked up to one alhaji (whom i paid 500naira to keep my back safe till i get out of the interview) and asked him if i would be allowed to take in my documents in the nylon bag and he said they would. Goodluck and God's favour all the way.

  6. please i will like to know if it is possible.

i did my wedding in Nigeria and i am now in Malaysia, i just want to know if it is possible for me to have my visa interview here in Malaysia, because i don't like the way i am hearing the news of the Nigeria consular visa denying. what can i do to make this happen? i prefer doing it here than wasting the time to go to Nigeria for nothing

Well, i agree with Dwheels, u have to get yourself prepared from my experience the consular officers are not as harsh as people say they are. If u have enough evidence to back your answers at the interview and confidence(answer your questions correctly and with ease) u will definitely not have a problem. Do not start getting that negative feeling about the interview, No, be positive and say to yourself that u can do it. U also need to pray about it too becos when once u commit it into God's hands, i tell u, u will have no regrets. Pray God to grant u favour in His sight first of all and in the sight of the consular officer that will interview u. Tell Him how u want your interview to be and He will grant u your request. Also get to know your wife very well and important dates like when u first met, when u started communicating and by what means, date of marriage etc and i tell u, u will be super fine. Keep saying to yourself that u can do all things thru Christ who strengthens u. God will see u through. I wish u all the best.

  7. No. You do not need a transit visa. My husband moved to the States from Nigeria and he took Royal Air Maroc. Lagos ---->Casablanca------> New York. No issues. Smooth trip. Good luck!

Thank u very much Debby, i appreciate this. We are checking out a lot of options and i needed to be sure i wont be needing a transit visa. Thanks this has calmed our nerves, lol.

  8. I was just coming to say We are all together now. The hubby arrived from Ghana in December and the children from Lagos on Monday.

Thank you all for the help and support

Congratulations! I am so happy for u and your family. God bless u all.

  9. Oh my God. I'm super scared. I did the medical examination today in Naples, Italy.Everyone was super friendly. In the afternoon I went to the Consulate to take the finger prints. I was super scared, the 2nd floor where the interviews take place was like visiting a prisoner in jail with those big windows and a telephone handle to hear thru the window. Handed one photo, took finger prints and a "ill see you tomorrow bye". Even though she was friendly I'm super anxious. Please wish me luck!!!!!

Do not be scared confess the scripture, "i can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me", this helped me and will definitely help u to stay calm. Pray about it and when u get there be totaly free with everyone around u. I had 2 kids who came with a woman for the interview and i played with them all thru. be very relaxed, i know this is hard but the moment u loosen up u will be calm. God who gave me unmerited favour will give u unmerited favour too and see u thru successfully. Goodluck and God bless u.

  10. NigeriaorBust is right. if your cousin fills out the form himself then he should just answer, no, he was not assisted but if someone else is filling out the form for another then most times the signature of the person is required. I cant remember how the Ds 156 form looks. When my husband sent his DS 230 form to me, he stated he was not assisted in filling out the form but then i had to fill out the entire form again (he had signed blank forms) due to some additions and blanks we had to complete. Since i did not want them to question the difference in handwriting, I just stated he was assisted in filling out the form by his wife and added my details.

Thank u very much ndu26, we really appreciate your response and advise and he will do accordingly.

  11. That section is for when someone else fills in the form. If you have a lawyer or legal aide person , or maybe if you fill it out for someone that doesn't read english. If he filled out his own form just leave it blank. If the fiance filed it out you could have her sign it ( but they might want an original signature and that would delay things )

Thank u very much NigeriaorBust, and yes, he filled it out, so i will ask him to leave that part blank as u have advised. Sorry, when u say an original signature what do u mean pls?

  12. Hi VJ family, how are u all doing? i have a question for those who filled the k1 non-immigrant visa application, DS 156 form( i am asking for my cousin pls). He filled the form himself and he is the beneficiary. On page 2 of 2 of the form, number 39 says, was this application prepared by another person on your behalf? and number 40 says, Application prepared by NAME___________________________________relationship to applicant__________________________. Should he write his name as name of the person who prepared the form or is it his fiancee's(she is the petitioner) responsibility? and when they say relationship to applicant, do they mean his relationship to his fiancee or her relationship to him. Its a bit confusing. We just want to know if that section is for him to fill and sign or for his fiancee. Thank u.

  13. I stayed at a hotel in victoria Island called Virgin Rose Resorts on Bishop Oluwole Street. It costs 19,500 naira for a night. Their food is very good, the hotel is well secured and the workers provide good customer service.

19, 500 for a single room or what others call a standard room so they are other rates for bigger rooms but i tell u, the single room was extremely cool, u will get a view of the bar beach and light 24/7

  14. Does anyone know of any good hotels in Lagos, Nigeria? If so, you do know the rates per night?

  15. Hi Guys. just letting yall know that tomorrow is our interview at the Saint Paul office in Bloomington MN.

Hoping and Praying everything goes well, we're so ready and prepared! :)

God's favour will go with u.Protocols will be broken in your favour. Remember, be confident, while u are sitted and waiting for your interview, do not fret or panic claim the scripture, "i can do all things through Christ who strengthens me", believe in God and believe in yourself, but i know that by God's special grace it is done. Goodluck!

  16. I'm still sort of confused about NVC documents.

I have our original wedding certificate here.

What other documents do I need from my Wife for NVC?

u will also need to include a birth certificate from the population commission of the state u were born, a photocopy of the biographic data page of your international passport, your police certificate and u may want to front load as well that is add copies of your emails, pictures, chat logs etc. Goodluck to u.
