    Hi there,

Thank you so much for your help, that makes me less concerned about having had the interview in Brooklyn. I've only been getting useless updates, first they told me they sent my case to NBC so wait another 30 business days for them to process. My Congressman got an update from them and it states the following:

Thank you for your inquiry on behalf of your constituent, -, concerning her N-400, Application for Naturalization.

USCIS service records confirm - appeared for her N-400 interview at the Brooklyn Field Office on March 22, 2021. The file was then sent to the National Records Center. The Newark Congressional Unit has already requested that the file be sent directly to our attention. Once the file is received, it will be forwarded to the Naturalization unit for review and action. The file transfer process may take 45 - 60 days. If the constituent does not receive a notice of action within the next 90 days, please feel free to submit another inquiry.”

Ridiculously, they even wrote the wrong date since my intinterview was on March 18th. I tried the Ombudsman asked me to wait for this response for them to do something so same issue everywhere. I'm so tired of this.

Just to give an update in case anyone is going through the same, I finally got scheduled for the Oath Ceremony at the end of this month. Can’t say what helped but after that last response the Congressman got, the Ombudsman also sent an inquiry on my case. I also happened to schedule an appointment at the field office for a new extension stamp a couple of weeks before.

Also make sure your address is correct in the online system as well. I did hear about NY and NJ cases being interviewed in each others field offices to help spread the work-load, so it's likely okay.

I'd call again if it's been the 30 days, and request another call back. The whole system of having to get a call-back is so stupid and in-efficient, but you have to play the game their way.

Also, make a note of the date, and file another out-of-processing-time request in 30 days time. When I was going through this, I had a spread-sheet going with reminders for myself on when to contact each congress-person, when to follow-up with the ombudsman etc etc.

Yes, you'd have to go to the field office in NJ.

When you moved, did you file an AR-11, and receive a confirmation through the mail? Also, does your online account show your current address?

I recently moved from NY to OH, and it was the processing of the AR-11 that prompted them to approve the case (they didn't process the first AR-11 correctly, and it was the second one that worked).

I've filed the AR-11 multiple times just in case but I did get mail at my current address so that should be correct. I called to get the passport stamp renewed and they said I'll get a call to schedule within the next 30 days. Now it's been another 30 business days since I made the inquiry about being out of processing time and USCIS just answers that that are transferring my inquiry to NBC and it will be another 30 days.

I can't believe how long it's taking to resolve this. I even sent my case to a Congressman now to see if that helps at least. It's so frustrating.

I would schedule an appointment to get an I-551 stamp in your passport (due to having no proof of your status), and this may prompt them to schedule the oath, and if not, you can ask them about it when you go to the field office to get your stamp.

Thanks for the idea, I'm going to try to do that now. I had a stamp in August last year and it's now expired. The only thing is the field office where I had the interview is different than the one that I should go to for the stamp now I think.

Moved from NY to NJ by the end of the process and for some reason still had interview in Brooklyn, even though I had already changed my address months before.

  5. Hi all,

I had my combined N-400 and I-765 interview on March 18th. I passed all exams and was told both applications would be approved, but they couldn't be approved the same day on paper so I'd hear about the N-400 later. I got the approval letter for my I-765 without a card saying I wouldn't get one because my N-400 was approved. Despite this, I never got the N-400 approval or anything. The status still shows interview scheduled. At first USCIS told me to call after 120 days, then told me to call after outside the normal processing time, which I did back in August. Supposedly they have 30 days to look into it which ends this week but still no news.

Has anyone had a situation like this? I don't know what else to do, and I don't even have a green card so I'm in total limbo.

  6. Hello,

I'm having a strange situation. I had my combined interview on 03/18 in New York (Brooklyn Field Office). I was told I was approved for both but they couldn't approve me on the same day for both things. Soon after I got an approval letter for my I-751 that said since I'm approved for both they are not sending me a new green card. The consular officer told me it'd be around a month to get the Oath ceremony date and that it would be in NJ (I moved to NJ around the end of this process).

I still haven't gotten any mail and my online account status just says interview scheduled for the N-400, when I called USCIS a rep told me that it was still showing as pending even though they see I passed civics and English. She was very rude and just said they have 120 days to make a decision.

My issue is, I want to travel to my home country for a visit potentially in July, but I have no documents, so I'm wondering, is this even possible with just my I-751 approval letter? Also, anyone have experience with this type of delay?

I thought I was finally done being stressed about immigration but here I am.

    congratulations!
    can you pls share
which FO, and did you just received notice on mail or u find update online as well
    when u applied for I751 and N400

Yes, it was the Brooklyn Field Office in NY, so it's a super busy office. I got the mail before the update, and the update online only popped up on my N-400, my I-751 didn't update until after the approval. I applied for I-751 on November 2018 and N-400 on November 2019.

Edit: Forgot to say, I got the notice for the N-400 in the mail first too, then got a call from USCIS letting me know they were combining both interviews and sending me the other notice

  8. I finally had my interview today, they combined my I-751 and N-400, which is why they stalled my I-751 so much since filing. First they asked my husband some questions about me (simple stuff, my name,my date of birth, my job, if we have joint accounts, our wedding date, where we met, they asked me pretty much the same stuff). I brought some new documents, from our new home purchase, mortgage and our son's birth certificate. They asked me for photos but I didn't bring any, thought it wasn't relevant but I guess I should've brought some. Either way they told me that was approved and then had the civics test. Interestingly, they kept asking me questions about my husband in between after being told I was approved.

Then they told me both were approved but they can't technically approve them on same day so they'll put the approval for my citizenship in tomorrow.

It was pretty straightforward overall, I studied a lot for the civics test (probably too much, haha). Since I filed I got zero communication until the interview notices two weeks ago. Very happy that we are done with our immigration journey 😊.

No, you do not need to send anything, if you have lots of evidence about financial Co-mingling, you will be fine.  If you get RFE or calls for an interview ( rarely), you might take it with other latest documents.  It is a misconception that having a baby together without lot of financial co-mingling will make your case stronger.    You need to add it during N-400 application.

Great! Thanks for the advice,  glad there's no extra steps.

You don’t need to send anything. If they issue an RFE for that, you can send it then. If they call you for an interview, you can bring the BC with you.

Btw, as many people on this forum have pointed out, having a baby is part of the evidence, but it’s not an ultimate trump card win-it-all kind of deal. Having a baby just means that you had sexual intercourse, it doesn’t speak volume to your relationship. Proving a bona fide relationship between two people is what they’re after,  not proof that sexual intercourse has occurred between two people.

I know, we dated for 7 years before marriage and had a lot of Co-mingling evidence in the package so most likely not even necessary, just wondering if it needed to be sent ahead of time since I'm getting the birth certificate in two weeks.. I'll wait to see if there's RFE then.

  11.  Got an update on our case yesterday, AOS was approved and card is under production :D This is after having the case status stuck on finger prints fee received since September, so for anyone stuck with no updates, it might be good news in the end! We didn't send any evidence with the application also, just the minimum that was being asked for. We did send a lot of evidence for the K1 process.

Good luck for everyone, I hope you get good news soon too!

  12. Does she have any scars from the self-harm? I had scars from over 10 years before and the doctor saw it on the physical examination. I had to have a separate assessment with a psychologist and she turned in a report saying I was doing well at present. This was in Argentina though, different countries may differ. Wasn't an issue at all during the interview.

  13. Hi everyone! My mom has an approved 10 year tourist visa and she booked a flight to come visit me and my husband in January. I'm a little nervous about it so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about their experience with their parents visiting.

She can't speak English, only Spanish, and she's getting here through JFK. She's a high-school principal for a public school and she'll only be coming for 10 days. She has more than enough money to cover the trip. She'll be staying at our apartment and might go to Miami to visit one of her brothers.

The rest of my family all live in Argentina, including my dad and my brother, but she's divorced.

Any tips for what she should say at POE? She's coming to visit me and also for tourism because she's never been to NY. She's been to Miami around 1993 but doesn't travel much.

Any tips for her arrival? I'm a very anxious person so I'm worried and I'd feel terrible if she had a bad experience coming to visit. I came under a K1 and I'm going through AOS right now.

  14. Yeah, never putting the email address while writing again lol. Still no contact from them, they asked if I had time for an interview tomorrow so I guess they're not gonna contact me. Might just be because I lacked experience in the field it was for and not the thank you letter. At least I learned something =p
