  1. second marriage is a major red flag. Most of the visa denies are due to divorce and 2nd marriage.

Also when the wife is older than the husband, it's the second red flag.

I know many people got denied because of these 2 issues.

I would keep as much records as possible.

  2. That's true. If you transfer more than $10,000, the IRS will come after you. They will ask where the money comes from, and you have to have legitimate proof.

I have a relative in vietnam. The parents wanted to send their daughter to the US for study. The parents are rich and own lots of lands, and make a lot of money. So they ask where the parents get the money from to buy land in the first place, they parents couldn't prove it. So they denied the visa for the daughter.

  3. .........also "degreeofhope's" questions have merit to them.

If by some chance his wife doesn't recieve the visa in the mail...what proof would they have that She was approved for the visa?

What proof would She have that She was even there for the interview?

They gave her a receipt, so even if she didn't get the visa in the mail, she could go back to the embassy and ask them.

  4. Congratulations!

But Hang on... You need to give two MORE 2x2 photos on the actual interview day? I thought with CR-1 interviews, we send two 2x2 photos beforehand to NVC and so don't need to give any more on the actual day?

The guideline said you have to bring 2 most recent photos to the interview but I didn't read it carefully. The photos you send to NVC are old. They want recent ones.

Hi congrats.... Can u pls let me knw after ur case completed at NVC within what time ur wife's interview was scheduled? I mean just in following month or later?

    Thanks

    Sweety

Jan 18, 2013 - NVC emailed me that case is complete

Mar 5, 2013 - I got an email from NVC that the interview is scheduled for April 25.

    Apr 25, 2013 - interview

  5. I think your wife had an easy interview because you guys gave them everything they needed. The only thing they didn't have are the photos.

No I didn't give them anything other than the intended documents( marriage/birth cert, police doc, blah blah blah)

I didnt give them our phone/email/chat records. they didn't even ask for our wedding photos.

the only thing I did differently was when I mailed in the DS-230(or 320) to NVC, I included 6 photos our trip together in cambodia, and a pic of us on valentines day, eventhough NVC never asked for the photos.

  6. So my wife had an interview yesterday.

When she met the interviewer(with an english interpreter), they asked if she brought 2 visa photos with her. She didnt, so they handed her a 221(g) paper. They didn't ask anything else.

So she went to take 2 photos and came back at embassy at 1pm. She handed the photos to them, and they said congratulations.

My wife was shocked. She asked if she passed the interview, they said yes.

She told me that the two of them didn't even look at her. They were entering something into their computer, and said congratulations to her.

They asked her to write down her address, and they will mail the visa to her home.

So i have a couple of questions:

    1. why didnt they ask her any questions other than the photos?

    2. Why didn't she get the pink slip at the embassy like most people who passed the interview?

    3. Why was her interview so easy?

  7. ^ To Dave&Roza and E-A,

I read on here that you need to notarize a timeline, but I guess for my case, I dont need to because i'm a CR1/IR1. I'm going to include a timeline without notarization for them anyway, just for the heck of it.

My wife is having a visa interview at the end of April.

  8. At that time, it was quite expensive to fly from her city to Seattle without landing somewhere else in the US first. It's not so bad now because of new flights but Seattle was still 200 miles from where I was living at the time. I could rent a mini-van drive and pay for motels for less than the difference in air fare for two people.

Back to your situation though. Is Las Vegas really a POE option coming from Vietnam? Remember, it's the first US airport that will be the POE.

I cannot come to vietnam to bring her here due to work, but her sister will happen to be in vn during that time and will bring my wife to where her sister lives, which is Vegas. So I fly to Vegas, spend a few days there, and bring her back to California. My wife doesnt speak english, that's why she needs escort. She cant travel alone to California from vietnam.

  9. My wife and I have known each other for about 2 years. I've been back to VN to see her 4 times in that time span. My finance is pretty strong. I've made over $100K a year in the last 3 years as an engineer.

We were never married before. Each trip I'd been back, I took her to Cambodia(angkor wat), thailand, singapore, Mui Ne, Halong bay, Hoi An, Hanoi. We talked on the phone everyday, we kept ALL records and photos.

So i'm confident our case is pretty strong.

However, there is a couple red flags.

My first trip, we spent two weeks together, but we never traveled to her hometown to meet her parents. She worked in HCM city, so I met her there. Her hometown is in central VN.

I proposed to her over the phone two months later. And another two months later I made my second trip to VN to marry her.

On this second trip, we traveled to her hometown to meet her parents, and a week later, we signed marriage paper at the city hall in front of her parents.

So the FIRST red flag is, I met her parents for the first time and signed the marriage paper with their daughter a week later on the same trip. We just had a big wedding with over 250 guests last month in her hometown.

The SECOND red flag is, my wife has a sister in the US, and the sister doesn't have a US citizenship yet. Her sister and I lived in different states. So I dont know how the visa interviewer would react.

  10. Is this for AOS? If so, there's no set timeframe for when you'll receive your interview date. Depends on your local office. We filed AOS on Sept 28, our case went to interview scheduling around Dec 1st & we just found out today we've been scheduled for an interview in March. Took 122 days to get the interview scheduled. For some it's quicker & for others it takes longer. Check out the general/average timelines on this site to get a better idea.

what is AOS? i'm a US citizen marrying foreign wife.

  11. My case was completed in Mid January. I received an email from NVC on Jan 27 saying,

"The NVC has received all documentation necessary...as soon as an interview date has been scheduled, you will be notified...The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements...until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa."

usually how long do we have to wait until they notify us of an interview date?
