Filed for N400 on January 15th 2019, got a notification that my Interview for Biometrics will be set, but still not showing up on my account. Hope it won't take too long. Looks like my case should be completed by November 2020, sounds pretty long!

    Hey!
I filed at the end of December, my priority date is December 31st... I need to go do my biometrics on January 30th. I live in Queens :).
So logically you should get your biometrics appointment for early-mid February.
Anyone else here who recently filed in NYC?

  2. Congratulations PNYC89. It is great news! Thank you for sharing information. Did you bring any proof of employment like paystubs or letter from employer? If you are not employed, can they deny your I485?

    Thank you!

I was never asked for any proof of employment in any phase of the application. Not in the beginning, not at the interview. Never.... So I didn't take anything with me.

So I don't think that can affect the I485, but I'm not sure.

  3. PNYC89, thank you for sharing your timeline. Could you also post here your interview experience, like how long it was, what questions you were asked, what documents to bring etc.

I am waiting for my interview to be scheduled, hopefully based on your timeline and uscis website, I will get interview notice end of April, beginning of May. As it gets closer, I feel more nervous about it.

I was really nervous, I thought it was going to be in some type of police-interrogation-like-room, but it was just in some office, the lady had pictures of her kids on the wall. She was very nice. She knew my lawyer and they were even joking about something.

I had to bring my passport, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, birth certificate + official english translation and the interview notice.

At first you have to stand up and they swear you in. She only double checked my birth certificate and made copies of the divorce certificate.

Then she made me state my full name, asked if I ever used any other name, if I have any kids, she made me state my parents' name, marital status, where I was born. She double checked my safe address with my lawyer, to make sure they can send the green card there.

Then she said she was going to ask me a bunch of yes/no questions, I don't remember all of them but here are a couple of examples: have you ever been part of an organization, terrorist organization, have you ever sold weapons to anyone, have you ever been member of a military anywhere in the world, have you ever stayed in the US illegally, have you ever helped anyone cross the border into the US illegally, have you ever sold or smuggled drugs, have you ever been arrested, convicted of a crime, have you ever commited a crime for which you haven't been arrested, have you ever discriminated somebody for their race or religion. My answer was no to all of them.

Then she gave me some letter saying "Notice of interview results". It says: you just have completed your interview. Uscis is unable to complete your case at this time. Your case is being continued until a final decision can be made.

On the letter they mention three options: Your case is begin held for review / Your I-485 is complete but your priority date is not current / your case is transferred to USCIS office servicing your new address. She ticked the box at the "your case is being held for review".

My lawyer said they rarely approve someone on the spot, but you usually get an answer within 2-3 days.

She then said she will contact me if she needs something else, if not I should get the GC in the mail within 30 days.

It didn't even take 5 minutes :). I had to be there at 7.30 in the morning, I got there at 7, and I was out by 7.45 :D.

When we went outside my lawyer congratulated me. When I checked my case status online about an hour later it already had changed to: Your new card is being ordered for production. A couple of hours later they updated it to: Your I-485 has been approved. Case status has been the same since.

Patiently waiting to get it in the mail now!! So happy!

  4. Hi guys!

I FINALLY got my interview two days ago and I was approved! My case was a real pain, but I'm so happy turned out well in the end!
    Here's my timeline:

    • - paperwork send out (I-360 and I-485 send out together): April 2013
    • - received by USCIS: May 3, 2013
    • - approval I-360: July 23, 2014
    • - I-485 status changed online (for the first time since May 3, 2013): Sept 9, 2015: case transferred to another office for processing, lawyer received notice saying it was transferred to Missouri
    • - Case transferred to local office (New York) according to USCIS website: Sept. 12, 2015
    • - Case actually got to local office: Dec. 12th 2015
    • - interview notice: Feb. 17th 2016
    • - interview date: 24 March 2016: approved!

  5. My case have been at NYC local office for the past 150 days. Anyone have any idea how much longer imma have to wait for aos interview? This wait is killing me

    Hi Geoheaven!

The USCIS website said my case was received at the local office (NYC as well) on September 12th, 2015.

Apparantly this was wrong, my lawyer got an email saying they only received it on December 12th, 2015.

My interview notice was sent out on February 17th, and I got my interview two days ago (March 24th, 2016)... I was approved :)

If they send them out chronologically, you should be getting yours soon.

  6. USCIS local offices in NYC take 5/7months to set up an interview, despite I have one case 9 months with the local office in NYC.

Oh wow really? I always thought they send out the notice just a couple of weeks after receipt.

I'll stop checking the USCIS website like a crazy person then, and continue to be patient. It's been almost three years since I filed, I could've been halfway to my road to citizenship...

    Thanks Sandra!

  7. Hi guys,

As you can see in my timeline below I've been going through a very frustrating and lenghty process.
The reason my VAWA was stuck in Vermont for such a long time was because I concurrentely applied for a U-visa as well, which I got recently. Apparantly they don't start to deal with the I-360 until there is some sort of answer on the U-visa.

The USCIS website says my case (VAWA) got to the local office (NYC) on September 12th, but nothing happened after that. Apparantly it was still stuck in NBC,
NYC replied to my lawyer saying my case got to NYC on December 10th 2015. They also said they were going to speed up my case since I've been waiting for almost three years. Anyway, now we're January 10th, and I still didn't receive an interview notice.
My lawyer keeps on sending them weekly emails to get things moving but nothing's happening. The USCIS website still says my case got to the local office on September 12th (which was incorrect).

My question is: does anyone know how long it usually takes to get an interview notice/date after the case gets to the local office? I heard NYC is quite backlogged...

    Thanks in advance :),

  8. Hi everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on my situation... This is only my second post on this forum, but I've had a very long VAWA journey....
I sent my I-360 and I-485 two years and a half ago: priority date May 3, 2013. Long story short (see timeline below): due to an error at the VSC my case got stuck there for waaaay too long, and it took my lawyer quite some effort to get it moving, anyway....

On September 9th, the USCIS website got updated for the first time since May 2013. It said they transferred it to another office for processing. My lawyer got a notice saying it was transferred to Missouri (NBC). Three days later, so on September 12th, all of a sudden the website says my case was received at the LOCAL OFFICE (NY).
My lawyer doesn't even know what to think of this, it seems very unlikely that a case is transferred that quickly, but he is inclined to believe the website.

What do you guys think? Missouri or New York?
And if it would be in NY (I hope so, I'm starting to become so desperate!), do you guys have any idea when I can expect my interview? Appearantly they send out the interview notices fairly quickly after receiving the file right?

(My case is the longest my lawyer ever had, I'm on my third EAD card! I swear I'm going to frame them after all of this is over....)

    Thanks a lot!!

  9. Hi everyone,

I'm new to this topic :). After a very long struggle, and thanks to the help of a great free lawyer, I've been waiting patiently for my AOS to be approved. I feel it takes a whole lot longer in my case than it does in most cases, and I'm getting a little bit frustrated and scared, so I was very relieved when I found this forum.

As you can see in my signature below, I have been waiting for a long time for anything to happen. I can't believe it's been already two years since I sent out all my paperwork. It took a year and 3 months to get the I-360 approved and since then I've been waiting for 9 months already, still no news on the AOS.

My lawyer said it was one of the slowest cases he had...

A couple of days ago my lawyer e-mailed the NYC office to see what is happening. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Does this mean I will have my interview within 60 days? This was the first time we ever requested more information, and this was their answer:

    • The A file has been requested from the Vermont Service Center. Please expect to receive additional information about your case with 60 days.

Thanks! And good luck to all of you :)
  10. Hey everyone!

My husband doesn't make enough money to support me, and the money he makes from are to proof (untaxed money from the military, ...) so after talking to a lot of our friends we finally found a joint sponsor.

Now the problem is that he has a 5 year old son and he already is a joint sponsor for his aunt's visa.

In order to support me as well, how much does he need to make on yearly basis?

    He makes 54 000 something...

    Thanks a lot!

  11. Hi!

I was approved on December 11th, called NVC two days ago, they received my case on December 20th... Put our emails in, now waiting for them to generate the first documents :).

    Mid December approval here.

My understanding is that you shouldn't wait for NVC, but start calling 1 or 2 weeks after NOA2, which would be end of December for me.

    Do you all do that?

Did you receive anything from NVC yet (mail, email)?

  12. Hi everyone!

We finally got our NOA2 on December 11th after almost 8 months of waiting... I tried to call NVC today to see if they already received our paperwork, which wasn't the case.

The thing I'm confused about is that everyone is talking about the automated voice service telephone number you can call, then you typ in your case number and an automatic response is given about your case. Somehow they always connect me to an operator when I call the 603 334 0700 number. How can I get to that automated response number that is accessible 24/7 without having to stay on the line and wait to speak to an operator?

    Thanks a lot!

  13. A week ago we put in a service request, after being on hold forever the Tier 2 supervisor finally wanted to put in a service request.

So now we're a week further, no answer yet, not even any confirmation that the service request got through. So now I'm wondering if he did put it in after all :(...

And April 9th must be a lie. They were already processing that date a month ago! Seriously, how is it possible that it takes them more than a month to process one day?!

  14. HEY THE !st PERSON I SPOKE TO SAID IT WAS GOING TOBE ANOTHER 30 DAYS AND THEY WERE WORKING ON APRIL 9TH (this was oct 9th) but i got my approval today after doing an service request for out of date processing time :) HANG IN THERE... ITS COMING!

WHAT?! we called them 20 million times to ask for a service request since the case is overdue and they said they couldn't do it yet!!!!

how did you get your service request??

  15. So guys i got my NOA 1 with Priority dated for may 7th... processing time for Vermont Venter for IR/CR1 still listed as 5 months so i took the time to call uscis yesterday the 9th of october and i was told that this is just an approximate and that Vermont center is working on April 9th cases as of October 9th and to give them 30 more days. WHAT THE HECK ? i dont know i think its just a line they give to anyone... because i know for a fact some people that have gotten approved that applied after me and that to in high fraud countries.... ANYONE HAVE THIS HAPPEN? WHAT CAN I DO ? WHAT SHOULD MY NEXT STEPS BE? theres so much todo and plan out and i cant make a solid decision if i dont know how long this thing can take...

    Hi!

Ahh, finally somebody who understands my pain :). So my NOA1 date is May 1st, also for the IR/CR1, and also in Vermont. We've been really stalking USCIS lately.

About a week before October 1st we spoke to a Tier 2 supervisor and he told us that they were processing April 27th. We were very happy to hear this of course... About a week ago, we still didn't get any response so we called them back. Some lady told us April 9th. Then a few days ago we called AGAIN. This guy says that the 5 months is not realistic and that we needed to add another 22 days. So if we don't hear anything by October 23rd, we can call them back (maybe to put in a service request? I don't know...). I hope I have a response by then so they don't need to make up another excuse.

The waiting is so frustrating, especially when you don't know when to expect an answer...

    Hey!

Our NOA1 is dated on May 1st 2012, im also at the Vermont Center. So the 5 months passed on October 1st.

My husband called about a week before that, a supervisor told him that they were processing APRIL 27th!!! So we were very happy ofcourse, but we dont hear back from them... Anyway, yesterday he called them again, another lady tells him they are processing APRIL 9th, and asks us to call them back in about a month. Now appearantly they told you that they are only processing FEBRUARY 27th...

    WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?!?

  17. Hi guys! :)

I don't know where to ask this question so I just picked a forum .

My husband and I filed for the I-130 almost five months ago! He's a USC and I'm Belgian. My hubby called USCIS last week and requested to talk to a Tier 2 supervisor, who told him that they are processing applications with NOA1 date 27th of April '12 (our is 1st of May)... We have to hear from them any day now I guess???

I roughly know what the process will be after we get approved (hopefully!), but I wonder if they require an Affidavit of Support for every application?

I'm worrying a bit since my husband is an Air Force Reserve and currently still in college, so his income is not too high. (I am currently still working at my job in Belgium).

How much does he need to make to stay over the poverty line for both of us?

(Of course I am planning on looking for a job as soon as I would move.)

Thanks in advance and good luck to all of you!
