    SSN takes one (1) month to approve???

    I applied for SSN (Btw, I'm a K1 visa holder) last month but was denied with my application since my I-94 already expired. So I decided to wait for my EAD (Employment Authorization Card) instead which finally arrived the other day. Knowing that an EAD would be one of the requirements for me to avail an SSN, it made me wonder now why it will take so long for SSA to issue an SSN card (one month++). I've read in other forums that the SSA's reason is for them to verify my file at the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) but it doesn't make sense that it will take them at least a month or more than that.huh.png What's causing all the delay???

    On May 7, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

    Does that mean i may get an approval soon?

    Not exactly. I had the same experience too and after 2 days, they changed it to notice for an RFE.

    It's possible that it may be an RFE or an approval.

    We got an RFE too today but the hard copy for the RFE isn't in our hands yet. Does anyone have an idea how long we will get to receive the notice?

    Well got my hardcopy RFE today requesting my fiancée letter of intent and mailed that right out today Via Express Mail .

    How long did it take for you to receive the hardcopy after they updated your case status for RFE online?

    I'm wondering if it has something to do with the petitioner. I am a naturalized citizen and I used to have an alien registration number. I can't remember but I think the I-129f form asks for your alien registration number. It could be that the system is deleting the alien registration number of the petitioner. Did anyone get this message who is not a naturalized citizen and never had an alien registration number? In any event I would be very surprised if you didn't get a case update today.

    My fiance became a naturalized citizen when he was about 10 years old so I guess you may be right about what you said. We are still waiting for any updates today. Its been 2 days already since we receive the "alien registration number changed" update.

    Thanks for all your help guys. The case status this afternoon changed to approved. So I am off to update my timeline and post a new message.

    Congratulations on your approval!!! We got the same case status such as yours (Alien Registration Number changed) last April 22, 2013. We still don't understand what this means but I hope we will soon received our NOA2 the soonest possible. The case status before our was still in Initial Review and the case after ours got an RFE.

    We got the message 11:30 am cst on 4/19. At 1:30 am cst on 4/20 we got the approval text message. Same thing happened with the person who was 1 case number down from me. I checked theirs too.

    I checked our status today and still the same message: "alien registration number changed". I still don't have a clear understanding as to what this really means. Some says that it's a possible RFE or approval is on the way while the others would say that it's a system glitch or error. Either way, I'm storming the heavens that all of us who are still waiting will receive our NOA2 the soonest possible time and finally be reunited with our loved ones whom we missed so bad.

    I'm WACXXXXXXXX26 (depending on the numbers in between), and I was approved on the 19th. You should surely be approved soon!

    We received a notice today but it's still in INITIAL REVIEW, however it says: "On April 22, 2013, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)."

    I hope we'll get an approval the soonest. We've waited for so long already :(

    Thank you, all VJ friends! Our I-129F was approved today. I just came home and when I checked our status, it says they approved our I-129F.

    We also got a notification today but it says "Alien Registration Number Changed". I'm a bit nervous coz it might be that they are asking for an RFE :blink:...hopefully it will mean an approval the soonest...TO GOD BE THE GLORY!:)

    It's a good sign if ones near yours are recently approved. They are working on your section.

    The alternative is all the ones near your number not being approved (or RFE) for months and months.

    The numbers before us were all I539 then followed by 4 successive I129Fs which includes mine. The one after me got an RFE which I don't know exactly what the application was for.

    Same here, sis. September filer and still under initial review. :)

    I just check the USCIS site with my WAC# then I started to check 1, 2, 3 numbers after mine, How frustrated!! the 2 numbers after mine.. one filed on Oct. Approved, the next one filed on Nov. Approved!!!! how come!!!!!

    We're just a few days apart with our NOA1 (September 12). 3 numbers ahead of mine for I-129F, 2 of which were approved last April 17 while the number prior to mine is still in Initial Review. We did not seek any help from a politician too. Hang in there, it will come soon :)

    It's in the USCIS website, the part where you can check the status of your case. Like A&P_Germany said:

    Type in your case number into USCIS website to check your status. Then check your number minus 1, then 2 then 3..

    It will just tell you if anyone that submitting around you is approved yet.

    I've checked on my group statuses online and it seems that there are only 4 applied for I-129F, 2 of which were already approved on April 17 and 2 are still in Initial Review (that include my app). Does this mean that we will get an approval anytime now? I surely hope so!
