    You can bring a baby/infant to the interview building and lobby, but not the interview room where the IO questions you, so if you have to bring a child, make sure you bring someone who can watch them in waiting area while you are being interviewed.  At the Los Angeles office they had a whole section of the room devoted to child care/toys etc.

    • Also, if anyone here was monitoring their case online and hence got the emails or texts from uscis, how long did it take for the letter to arrive telling you when your interview date was?

    You will receive a letter in 8 days.  Your interview will be exactly one month from that (plus or minus a few days).  So expect an LA Office interview on June 2 or 5 (not weekend).  If you are due in Mid-May no worries!

    Thanks I have a name change, so I have to change everything with the all the airlines, Social Security, Drivers License, Global Entry, Sentri, Credit Cards, it's sort of a pain but worth it. :o

    Wow you're right their offical processing time is 9 months on the website, so I guess a little longer in actuality.  Well you are in a good state of mind and doing right thing, just forget about it until July-ish then check in, the other filers will be panicking and calling every five minutes and wasting time that won't speed anything up, just enjoy summer and keep yourself busy and it will come quick!

    Thank you! yeah that's the first thing I am doing as soon as I have my certificate. Also update my SS status to citizen, which in Seattle it's the same building as the passport agency. After that I'll register to vote and be done!

    Don't forget if you are enrolled in any airline frequent flier programs, you will need to change your name with them in order to book a ticket and earn miles.

    Thanks!  I don't think you will get into May 23rd as it's too close to the notice date, you would receive that notice in the mail around May 18th and I don't think they would schedule it that tight but you never know!

    Letter won't be uploaded in my account, but you can find out based on your city when the oath ceremonies are scheduled by doing a Google search online of your city and "naturalization ceremonies", mine is scheduled for May 23.

    Hi all happy to report I'm an August 10 filer and was approved today at the Los Angeles Office.  The whole interview lasted 17 minutes, the IO was delightful, I was asked (paraphrasing):

     

    How long is a US Senator elected, Name One Branch of the Government, Who Serves if Prez/Vice Prez can't, How Many Amendments to Constitution, How Many Chief Justices, What is Rule of Law.

     

    Received text message in parking lot about 10 minutes after interview I would be receiving an oath letter, I'll write more detail later but if you're an LA Office Interview it went smoothly, on time and trouble free.  My visa journey is a month away from setting in the sunset.

    Any idea how long background checks can take? I hear some horror stories of people waiting more than a year. I did have like 26  overseas trips in the 5 years prior to filing N400, could that be the reason OR the fact that  I have a very common name. 

    Did you travel to any countries that sound off alarm bells (Yemen, Pakistan etc)?  If your name is similar to many on Do Not Fly lists it could take a long time.

    So the E-request created by the L2 officer helps big time! I got an email from the ELIS system but when I log in, nothing is there. 

    Finally! :)  You will get the interview letter in the mail late next week, your interview will fall around May 19 or 22.
