  1. Hey All,

Just doing my research for the IV Package and came across a few people who got RFE on police checks from other countries. My husband has mostly lived in Australia but he did temporarily live in England from 2001-2003.

Does he require a police check from England? I'm hoping it was so long ago that the NVC doesn't need it.

how old was he? if over 16, then yes he does. Requesting a PCC from England is a pretty straightforward process though (google acro police report)

  2. VISA APPROOOOOVEEEDDD!!! :dancing::dance::D:wub:

I will be posting his interview review to our timeline shortly. His interview was at 8am this morning and he was in and out in less than an hour!! MY HUBBY IS COMING HOME ON THE 30TH WITH MEEE!!!! YAYYY!!!!!! :D:luv:

Thank you to everyone in this community who has supported us and been there with us through the frustrations, tears, small triumphs, and finally here at the last steps before we are together permanently (esp my Sept peeps and Brit/American duos - lookin at you guys!). Y'all are the best and for those still waiting on your next step, we wish you the best of luck and we're cheering for you on each of your individual journeys. (F)(L)

good start to the week :dancing:

  3. I need advice and help.

I was checking my IV package and realized that my wife's original birth certificate is laminated. I tried to take it off but it is too tight to remove without damaging the original.

Does NVC have any issues if the original is laminated. Anyone has any insight into this.

BTW: I am still waiting for IV to be invoiced. I submitted DS-261 on June 8th.

FWIW, my wife's original birth certificate was laminated and approved by NVC

  4. I haven't received the 60 days email yet. So it's still 30 business days (45 days) for me!

I wonder if NVC got the memo from the embassies/consulates because some embassies/consulates are experiencing a system problem and can't issue visas. I heard that some embassies had to cancel interviews. They may be rescheduling and canceling interviews so they need more time, which means they want to receive fewer cases from NVC. If so, NVC should be able to go back to the good old 30 business days wait once the system gets fixed? :clock:

From what I understand, immigrant visas aren't too impacted by that issue anymore

  5. Soooooooooooo

Its 3 days before the interview.

Hubby picked up his medical paper work yesterday.

    He's ready to go.

I'm the one that's feeling nervous. I woke up this AM with a stress headache

And those stomach pains from Nevers.

Think I'm going to stay home and sleep all weekend.

I took Tuesday off I would not be able to work.

    Good luck all !!!????????????

I'm in the same boat :jest:. Wife has her interview and I'm nervous, but don't really have a specific reason to be. Just want this to go smoothly

  6. I am shaking and crying. I can barely breathe or type, but I am going to try to tell you all what just happened to me on the phone with NVC. I called and spoke to Fiona, who was an enormous and sarcastic B*TCH. She didn't even type in my case number correctly at first and was like, "Uh, that's not who I have down as the petitioner." Jesus.

I asked her why 40 business days have passed and I still can't pay the IV payment. She said some ####### about waiting 30 business days. I repeated again that it had been 40. She said something like, "Uh well, here I have June 25...no wait, they are re-reviewing it as of July 18." I said, "July 18?? It was received on June 4." She said, "Yeah, well, they're reviewing it again as of July 18." I said, "I called days ago and spoke to a supervisor and no one mentioned this to me. I'd like to speak to a supervisor now." She said in a very sarcastic tone (get this, what a horrible b*tch), "Actually someone already talked to you about this, but let me see if I can get someone." UM NO, NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS, YOU UNBELIEVABLY SMUG $%&*#. There was no supervisor available. I doubt she even asked. "Oh, so no one's working tonight??" is a think I yelled.

Guess what happened on July 18? Our embassy change to Buenos Aires was approved. I was told before we did it that changing embassies would not delay our process in any way, shape or form. LIES!!! It seems to have reset our DS-261. That's the only conclusion I can come to. But of course Fiona couldn't put two and two together to tell me this. No, I figured it out on my own. I am floored. The worst part is that all this is taking so long that my husband and I have discussed changing BACK to Colombia because work contract is up in mid September!!! I did mention the contract to Fiona, and she said, "Well, this is why we tell people not to make any plans. You really can't assume--" and I cut her off "Um, it wasn't making plans willy nilly, my husband had to move for a job, you know, to make a living!!" Yes, I was yelling at this point. Oh my God, this is by far the worst phone experience I've had thus far.

I am trying to calm down. I need to call again tomorrow, early, talk to a supervisor who is fresh and see for sure why the hell my DS-261 got reset to July 18 and if there's anything we can do about it. I won't lie people, I got mean and yelled at this woman by the end of the call. She was just so horrible from the beginning. Now I'm afraid she's going to press some button and punish me in some way. They can't do that, can they??

    :ranting::protest::crying:

Wow what a story. Sorry this happened to you, you may want to tell a supervisor since they are receptive to this type of feedback..

  7. Sooo .. on the embassy website I read the following:

"On the day of your interview, a set of your fingerprints will be electronically scanned. If you have a cut or blister on any of your fingers or thumbs, your application will not be processed. You will be required to reschedule an appointment for a later date."

Apparently hubby got a tiny scratch on one of his fingers today while doing yard work so now we're hoping it's healed by Monday. Take care of your fingers!!!

need to add a line to the VJ wiki... cover your fingertips 1-2 weeks before your interview date

  8. Alright, already posted this in NVC July thread... but I'm thinking that all you experienced folks B-) may have some insight...

For those of you that requested an expedite... did you receive an email confirming they had received your request? I fear that I may have actually included all of the information they need to process my request (), so they won't contact me for additional information.... but then I don't really know for sure if they actually received my email. Can phone operators see that you've sent a request to expedite? I really don't feel like calling them this week when I'm pretty sure it will be useless.....

I requested an expedite and they got back to me in like 3 days saying they are looking into it. the operators do see the expedite request in their system but they will just say "wait for the response" which will come via email. hope that helps

  9. :ot: ..... but I'm a little happy today because I saw a waiver get approved today !! Yes... SUNDAY.... I saw the approval notice... ( she posted it on Facebook) Had today's date on it.

Waiver approvals were at 8 months last year... they are at around 3.5-4 months now.... YEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW

Sorry... I'm off topic and in the wrong thread.... But you guys know me....... and the waiver thread is a snore.

sooooo, you guys may be stuck in the NVC backlog right now, but when you finally get your interview, you're done.... I'm jealous

I'm cheering for all of you :dancing:(L)

3.5-4 months, not too bad :jest: good luck yo

  10. At my interview they took ALL AOS documents, including the actual I-864 form completed. I had my taxes, w2 form, recent paystubs, letter from employer and I believe that is all.

They also took a recent police report, our marriage certificate, and my husband's birth certificate even though they already had all of it. So make sure you take everything.

    Hope this helps.

did you send AOS docs to NVC as well?
