Domestic travel - yes, you're good. Outside the US - you need AT LEAST AP to return to the USA.
-
We just put "unknown" for the travel dates and "emergency travel" for the reason on my husband's form and it was approved.
-
Unfortunately my Ex-husband did this to me and we were both USCs.? I think it's a guy thing. I would try volunteering somewhere just to make new friends for yourself. My New husband joined a gym to give him something to do while I was at work and he met a few new friends. If you choose to stay here, I wish you all the best of luck.

My husband submitted his application on the same day as you. We got his greencard in the mail July 30. His case status never changed from acceptance until the card went into production. Did you get an interview waiver letter?
-
My husband got his waiver letter in early April and got approved July 22. We just got his card on the 30th. His status never changed from acceptance until the day it was approved. You just need to be patient. You've come this far, it's almost over. Good luck!!!!

On July 22 my husband was approved for his greencard (YAY!) We got the official notice in the mail and the update that his card was mailed on the 28th. Here's the problem....he is leaving on the 30th for 2 weeks for a family thing. I know with our luck the card will come the day or the day after he leaves. What do we do now? He has AP but will it still be good or are we SOL? Can I send him a picture of it? Any thoughts?

My husband's status never changed from Jan 2 until his card went into production July 22.

Yesterday we got the messages to check my husband's case status. We got Approved, card in production!!! We received the interview waiver letter in early April. And now out of the blue we got approved!! Now I only hope he gets his card before he travels home next week. hahaha!!!!
Thank you to everyone here in VJ. We would not have been able to get through without you guys!! To everyone still waiting.....keep your chin up and stay strong, it's all worth the wait.!!!

If the updates happen, they update immediately.

I wasn't sure if he needed anything else. Thanks!

Can anyone help?

Hi everybody!I have a couple of questions that I'm sure have been answered but I can't find what I'm looking for.
My husband is flying home for a few weeks. We filed AOS before his I94 expired and he has the combo card. We also got an interview waiver letter.
1. Do we have to do anything before he leaves the US?
2. Other than copies of the AOS info will he need anything to leave Tunisia? Does anyone have any experience with this at the Tunis airport? We tried contacting the embassy, but no response.
3. Same question as #2, but for POE most likely being JFK New York.
Thank you for any advice.

We're near Pittsburgh too. We filed my husband's AOS in January and got the waiver letter in April. Have heard NOTHING since. Hoping for a paperwork miracle myself.

We sent my husband's AOS in January and his status still says "acceptance" and we've already done the biometrics and gotten a letter about an interview waiver. I was talking to one guy on here and his status never changed from acceptance until the day before he got his card. They don't update the website as often as they should. But you are still in for at least a 7 to 9 months wait. Sorry.

Call the DMV office in your state. They will have a check list of the items you need to apply for a license. I did that for my husband and had no problems with any of the paperwork.
-
When we did my husband's, we left the dates empty and under reason for travel, we just put "In case of Emergency". It was approved, no problem. We only sent in 2 pictures.
-
My husband's is doing the same thing. Apparently updating the website isn't a prioity. Have faith!!

Filed AOS, Jan 3 receipt date. I hope they speed up the process soon!
-
File all 3 together. It's cheaper.

Congrats!!!!!

Read the instructions for the 1040NR and it tells you that you can file jointly and treat your spouse as a permanent resident for tax purposes even if they do not have EAD or a Greencard yet. You will need to write a statement to that fact to attach to the return. I found it under the what you can do for the first year part.

I just watched this for the first time and it actually made me angry. These people are acting like they just met and decided to get married and they haven't spent any time together, Skype, chatting, etc. And the producers are making the K-1 process look like it's a short amount of time to process. I think TLC is doing the whole Visa process a HUGE injustice with this show.
Just my opinion.

He is a legal alien allowed to work. They will verify that at SS, but K Visa's are allowed to work. His card will say "Only Authorized to Work with DHS Authorization"
