  1. I was also transferred from CSC to NBC although it sounds like many people have been transferred I am still worried that it will take longer to process. NBC does not normally process I130s so there is no way for me to find out the normal processing time. Does anyone have that info?

Agreed. I, too, am wondering if our cases were transferred to NBC for normal processing, how long does the NBC take...hopefully less than what the other centers take. That would be a good note for us :)

  2. As Nick1980 said, you've already chosen your route, the IR1/CR-1 (I-130). Therefore, you don't need to send in the K-3 (besides, it takes just as long as the I-130, in fact, nowadays I-130 is faster than K-3) K-3 is sort of "dead" in this generation, it was helpful years ago when visa processing took many years to complete, but not anymore. So, just hang in there and be patient. I don't want you to get your hopes up that your husband will be able to attend your brother's wedding, because there's a chance it might take longer, or it might not, just depends. Good luck, and hope for the best.

  3. When is your brother's wedding?

Your husband cannot apply for a visa. YOU are the one applying a visa for him through the I-130 petition. There is a guide hereMy link. We all want our spouses here ASAP but USCIS doesn't work that way. ASAP is relative (for USCIS, the fastest could be 5-6 months). Generally, the entire process ON AVERAGE can range between 6-9 months, some more, some less. Depends entirely on your case. Every case is different.

Since you applied for the I-130 last week, you probably received the NOA1 ( 1-757C receipt).

Next, you have to wait for the NOA2 (approval of I-130)- this takes the longest, right now the average is 5 months for most centers.

Then, it gets transferred to NVC (National Visa Center). They will send you your number, you send in the AOS (affidavit of support-income), some forms (DS-3032,I-864, DS-230 )plus you have to pay the bills for those too ( I think one is $88, other is $230 as of right now).

After all that is received, confirmed and APPROVED, you move on to the next step: INTERVIEW. Your husband will go to an assigned consulate in India for the interview, and IF approved, he will get his visa.

THIS IS YOUR STEP TO GETTING A VISA. The whole point of an I-130 is to obtain a visa to come to the US.

You could try other visas, such as tourist, but there is a HIGH chance(almost 100% chance, reason being he is your husband and has a likely chance of overstaying and other immigration issues) it will be denied. BUT since you've already started the I-130, I suggest you stick with that since it's the best way.

I'm sorry, but the process isn't quick. We're all impatiently waiting for our loved ones to come. You have to just wait in line for your turn. Hopefully that helps answer your question.

  4. what concerns them about the age gap, will they be the one to live our life for us. i am really worried about this NBC things.

I don't know why age gap would matter...especially in this generation, but someone on a different post said that it might raise red flags. However, I don't think the reason our cases have been going to the NBC is for that. I think the reason is because VSC and CSC are so behind with pending cases, NBC is helping out (which is a good thing). At least, that's what I've been hearing a lot now. I know that everyone who has been transferred to NBC lately has been freaking out (including me) because usually that means a bad thing, but hopefully in this case, it's a good thing so we get processed faster and not for petitioner interviews!

  5. I also received the same notice that my I-130 went from Chicago Lockbox to VSC and then they transferred to NBC. I, too, was worried that I was transferred there because they wanted an interview for me (although, I couldn't figure why they would want that since it's unlikely they'd doubt my marriage). In addition, a LOT of people have been getting the same transfer especially those who filed in August and September. So, for now, I'm feeling better that hopefully the transfers to NBC have been for the good reason and not the bad. :)

  6. this is not going to require you to do an interview. I got in touch with a friend who has a friend who works in a USCIS office in NY she said that this is normal processing and they are balancing workloads because of a large amount of petitions recieved last month. I was worried too but now I feel much better. Lets stay in touch and if you hear anything let me know and I will do the same :)

I'm happy to hear that. Hopefully, all of ours will go by fast and we will all be with our spouses/beloved ones soon! :)

  7. I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday. I did some research and made some phone calls to USCIS and I was told not to worry. The cases are being transferred to NBC to assist the back log of case loads at CSC and VSC. The service centers are overloaded with petitions from the new law that passed for the children brought to the USA as a child. I have alos found on this site and a few other sites that this has happened to many Aug and Sept 2012 filers. I hope this help relieve your minds :D

I almost love you for this. I hope that being transferred to NBC means it's nothing to worry and they're just processing normally (or faster, the better). I had no idea about the new law! Great information! I feel much much better now. :D

  8. hey Mina90, if you have any update please let me know, i asked some people any information about NBC and they said there is nothing to worry about.

Hey moonmoon, I just got a text from USCIS and it says my case has been updated. I looked at the case status on USCIS website and now it says "The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

So now it changed from "your case is being transferred" to "your case was transferred to a USCIS office"...I don't know if this is bad news or good news.

  9. hey Mina90, if you have any update please let me know, i asked some people any information about NBC and they said there is nothing to worry about.

I haven't had any update, which is probably a good thing meaning they are probably just processing normally at the NBC like others are saying. I will definitely update when I find out what happens next. Please let me know as well if you have any updates too. :)

  10. MIna09 & MoonMoon >> Jut curious, do you know the timeline for IR1/CR1? You seem to get frustrated at this very early stage. Trust me, this is a very cruel, brutal and painful journey and you will be really disappointed many times down the road. This journey may take (For Mina09, I could speak from experience), 8 months to 12+ months depending on varieties of things. There will be times when you will feel helpless unless you are prepared for it.

Yes, I do know the timeline for the IR1/CR1. I'm not frustrated, I am worried. I was curious to know if my case was the only one that went to NBC or was it happening to everyone else so I know whether or not I should expect and interview or not. As a matter of fact, from all the recent posts, I realize that lately August and September cases are being transferred to NBC because of the over-load at other centers. I already know how long this journey takes, that wasn't what this topic was opened for. I'm glad you had some input but it wasn't helpful to the topic at hand. There shouldn't be a reason to feel helpless (unless something extreme happens that doesn't happen to others normally). It's pretty much already outlined roughly as to what we should expect when going through this journey (also it's called a journey because we expect it to be fairly long). I'm sure most people do research on this if they are preparing for it ahead of time so they are aware, like me. However, things such as these transfers can mean different things, which is what I wanted to make sure. Thanks anyway.

  11. I am not sure what to say reading some of people thoughts/guess, as above mentioned. I dont know how you know all this? unless you work for them or just provided info what you been reading on web. I seen few posts today which saying most of the cases from AUG and SEP2012 been forward to new offices.. so if we go with your post then most of the people will be with red flag?....?

    Answer to your post now.

    We are with same age.

We have wedding party and have evidence

    we have same religion

I am divorced and provided court papaer

In some countries people never meet in person and they just get married (Arranged Marrige): example...Pakistan/maybe some part of india..Bangladesh... those guys always get approved...

Please stop putting so much negtive info.... I can agree with a little part of it but not with most..

Reading your reply makes me feel soooo much better. I have been stressing a lot over the fact that my I-130 (submitted sept 6, 2012) for my husband was also transferred to NBC last week. I can't think of why they would want an interview. My husband and I do have an age gap, but that didn't matter since we fell in love with each other (Besides, even the USA has celebrities who get married with GIANT age gaps so why would that be an issue for others?). We have the same wedding, same evidence, same religion. It would be amazingly upsetting if they do call ALL of us for interviews because some "red flag" went up for them.

  12. @moonmoon They don't ask for the birth certificate when you submit the I-130...they will ask for that later, if at all. Also, the G325A are the background information form. All of that was sent for me and my husband. Now, I keep hearing there's a lot of work-load which is why a lot of cases have been sent to NBC. Or it could be that there is a need of an interview...I don't know which one. That's what's worrying me is which one is it?

  13. I opened a topic earlier but no one helped me with that. Now I got two letters recently as well.

I recently sent out my I-130 packet through USPS on Sept. 6th 2012 with priority shipping and tracking to the Chicago Lockbox. USPS said they received the packet on Sept. 8th 2012. USCIS sent me a text on Sept. 11, 2012 that said "Your case was received. Receipt #xxxxxxxxxxx. Official receipt notice (form 1-797) to follow in mail." Now, I checked online on the USCIS website using my receipt number for an update on my case and it says that on Sept. 13, 2012 it was last "touched" and was written as Initial Review. It also says "On September 13, 2012, we transferred this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(e), OR ORPHAN to another office for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

I just got two letters from the Vermont Service Center with a priority date of Sept 10, 2012. The second I-757C says that my I-130 has been transferred to USCIS-NBC in Lees Summit MO in Sept. 13. It says "We transferred this case because the record indicates that office has jurisdiction over the case. That office will notify you of subsequent action taken on this case. Another says they have receipt of getting the $420 I paid.

I have searched online a lot and I have found some sources that say this is because they want an interview from me, the petitioner. While other sources say that it is because they are just switching around service centers since they are backed up. Which is true? What should I expect? I'm extremely tensed and worried.

  14. Hi everyone,

They say they've "notified" me of this transfer, but I didn't get any texts or emails or mails (yet) of this transfer or as to where. Should I just wait until I do receive notification in mail or should I be concerned about anything?
