  1. I'm sure any psychologist could tell you that most abusers were themselves victims of abuse of some kind or other.

But still - once you commit a crime like this, is there really any coming back from that? That's a whole other level of psychosis.

No there obviously is no "coming back from that" as you put it however, I still do not believe that the death penalty is the answer, just sweep it under the carpet so to speak? Doesn't help anyone, does it?

I don't agree with the DP either - but I do have to wonder what would otherwise become of this guy. You can't be rehabilitated after something like this - so the best that could otherwise be hoped for is life in a secure facility (raping a child and burying them alive is an insane thing to do).

No-one ever touches the underlying issue of how people get turned out this way - because simple solutions (like the DP) are easier than looking at diffuse causes and effects. The DP is as much about making an example as it is an act of simple vengeance, but whether it deters anyone from crime is arguable.

Well, I like you already!! I do understand that rehabilitation would be futile, some seeds are too far set, so then a secure facility is all that is left then...maybe not ideal but still.

To add more to your comment I believe it's totally arguable that the DP is not a deterrant, proof's everywhere you look!!

Anyway, thank you for sensible comments, I thought I'd be flamed by now!

  3. They can interview you more than once if they feel it is necessary but most people only get one interview.... good luck with yours....

    Kez

Thanks for that. Just one more thing...if you are successful first time out do they usually tell you at the interview?

    Cheers

As Kez said, most people have only one interview. There might be a second interview if the immigration officer suspects fraud. If you get approved at the interview or not also depends on the fbi namecheck...if the fbi namecheck has been completed and the immigration officer doesn't see the need for a 2nd interview then you will most likely get approved and the officer will let you know. Good luck

Yikes seems like I know nothing lol. Wouldn't they already have done an FBI name check? I came on a K3 visa nearly 2 years ago and already have the permanent residency visa approved from when I applied from the UK (I 130). Surely they have done all the necessary checks?

  4. I have to agree in that, for the most part, it is the owners of these animals that cause the problem. I do not agree with a pit bull ban but yes, I think ownership and breeding of them must be very strictly licensed and monitored. I mean, in relation to the post about the dog attack on a child, the dog was running about alone, again, strict leash laws must apply. The truth of the matter is if it wasn't pit bulls then it would be something else. Does anyone remember the spate of rottweiller attacks (in UK) a few years back? Unfortunately there will always be people that have these type of breeds and encourage them to be vicious and condone dog fights. In my opinion, control that and you'll control the animals.

Oh and edited to say, obviously there always will be aggressive animals, pit bulls or otherwise, despite the owners, and yes, they should in that situation be put to sleep. Ban a whole breed though....definately not!

  5. :jest:

The clown hooker from hell wants to be compared with those guys.. I think by living in the UK she has gained some extremely false sense of royalty.

People like that are proof that money can not buy class. You either have it or you do not..

It doesn't matter how much tweed you wear, it doesn't make you lady of the manor (neither do the green wellies and wax jackets but God loves a trier)

  6. An elderly man lay dying in his bed.

While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favourite chocolate chip cookies wafting up the stairs.

He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed.

Leaning on the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort, gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs. With laboured breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the kitchen.

Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven, for there, spread out upon waxed paper on the kitchen table were literally hundreds of his favourite chocolate chip cookies.

Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of love from his devoted wife of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?

Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself towards the table,

landing on his knees in a rumpled posture.

His aged and withered hand trembled towards a cookie at the edge of

the table, when it was suddenly smacked by his wife with a spatula.

"F**k off" she said, "they're for the funeral."

    :lol::lol:
