  1. I agree that they are super duper slow. I filed on 18th Jan 2012 and for my type of visa they say within 5 months...my file has finished 6 months and today is the 185th day and I am still waiting. I have put a service request as well; however, i recieved a reply that i will get either decision or another notice of action within next 60 days :( this is really very sad :( I am considering myself very unlucky that my file is at VSC and not at CSC.

  2. Today its 183rd day, I filed my I-130 in Jan and the NOA1 date is 18th Jan 2012. I dont understand why many of feb and march filers have got approved but there are handful of Jan filers left out. I thought they go according to who filed it first. I also had put a service request and got a reply that they are still reviewing my file and will update within next 60 days. Vermont service center is working really slow.

  3. Exactly, I dont understand why they have this feature/facility available when they want to give same generic response to everyone that puts a request. It was frustrating when I got this response that they will review within next 60 days on the 170th day. I read someone's post earlier that even after recieving this kind of reply it took in total 4 months to get the approval :( :(

  4. My visa category is a little different; however, I got this replay after 3 days of the request. I recieved this on 5th July and no approval yet. I have heard many people saying that this is the generic response that they send to everyone who puts a service request.

The status of this service request is:

Your case is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must submit Form AR-11 AND notify this office of their change of address, within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). To notify this office of a move, visit our website at: www.uscis.gov or call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283. The Form AR-11 can be downloaded from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and we can order one for you. Instructions for filing the Form AR-11, including mailing instructions, are included on the Form.

  5. It normally takes 2-3 months from NOA2 to Interview date. It is country specific. It will take any time till 2 weeks for the file to reach NVC after the I-130 approval. Then about 1-2 weeks to get the case number assigned. Then couple of weeks to get the case complete at NVC (provided you make payments on time and have all documents ready). Then the interview date will be assigned based on your country's consulate traffic.

Reaching USA before 25th August is not realistic until any miracle happens :)

  6. Thanks! But I think you were fine even if didnt have. The rules may have been different before but for the US counsulate, there is no rule behind if the passport is 6 months or older, and has to do with where reside currently. As per the NVC's documentation under (http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9215), for which you'd fall under the first category is:

    Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

    * All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.

    * Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

    * Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

    * Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

Excatly, I agree. My passport is older than 6 months so i will have to get the police clearance from District police office and passport clearance from where my passport was issued. That is difficult because I live in Ahemdabad, Gujarat, India and they ask for visa letter or checklist that we get from NVC then only they will accept my application to issue those certificates. I am sure this will delay my NVC process and am very much concerned about it. I am still waiting on my I-130 approval. MY NOA1 is of 18th Jan 2010 and its almost 6 months in next few days. I am all worried and upset about it.

Can anyone from Ahmedabad who has recently got the police and passport clearance guide or help me with this. I would like to know the procedure i need to follow to get these certificates faster, I have rest all documents that are needed for the NVC stage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

  7. Did you send a police clearance certificate to NVC? I am from Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India) and the district police office and passport office ask for some letter which I would be getting from NVC (I suppose), then and then only they can take my request for issuing a police clearance certificate. Now my passport is older than 6 months so I assume I will need a police clearance certificate from both the places (passport office and district police office). I am still waiting for my I-130 approval; however, I wanted to be prepared with all the documents for the NVC stage. Here the district police office takes around 10 days and passport office will give on the same day, then I send those to my husband (USA) which would take few more days before he sends to NCV. This is the biggest confusion and concernt that I have, I feel it would delay my NVC process. Please help!!
