  1. Yes, send all your originals to your benecifiary. I did the same thing. I sent him everything that was included in the original petition. There are certain that should be orignals and copies. Such as send the orignial of your birth certiicate, divorce decree, notarized tax transcripts, pictures, affividat of support, letter of intents, etc. It should be okay to send copies of chat text, emails, skype logs, call logs, passport stamps, etc.

  2. Based on my experience, I started collecting documents every couple of months immediately after our petition was submitted. Just think you have so much information to collect such as WhatsApp Chat (text messages), yahoo emails, Skype logs, Rebtell Call History logs and reciepts, pictures, Passports stamps, Birth certificates, updated letters of intent, and most importantly start gathering all the Packet 3 requirements, etc. So you really dont' want to wait until the last minute. For me about 3 months after our petition was submitted my Mom was going to Nigeria so I sent a stack of documents with her for him to pick up. Then months later I travelled to Nigeria and brought the latest documents...mainly alot of updated evidence. We just continued to build and build. Also about 3 weeks before his interview I had to DHL some final documents that required my signature such as the letter of intent, affividat of support application and supporting documentation.

Keep in mind you can also forward by email alot of documents so your fiance can print them out on their end. It helps and keeps the cost down.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

  4. There are alot of hotels in Lagos. They range in price too with many being really expensive. Do you have a price range? I travelled on a budget so I stayed at the Inglesias Hotel in Lagos 13 Marins Street Off Ojuelegba Road Tejuosho, Yaba-Surulere Lagos NIGERIA. Phone numbers are 08154396937 and 08065117598. The rate was 7,000 Naira a night ($45). Not sure what area you are looking to stay but its not in the best area like in VI but the hotel is safe, very clean, IKEA like feel with furniture, and the staff is very helpful and nice. The rooms are small but has everything you need (flat screen AC, TVs, desk, chair, etc.) They always have light or run the generator throughout the night and most of the day. My biggest compliant is there a nice lounge and a club downstairs and I think there is also a club next door. So at times the music could be really loud in the evening. Not every night. Maybe because I was visiting during the holidays because it seemed to be alot of partying going on..lol But overall I enjoyed my stay.

  5. We recently receieved our NOA2. I also contacted the NVC and they informed me that our petition has left on January 10, 2013 heading to the Lagos Consulate in Nigeria. Me and my fiance are working on getting our additional documentation to update our K-1 Petition (such as letters of intent, more pics, Rebtel, call logs, WhatsApp Chat, etc) and we are also getting the Packet 3 documents together. We are going through the Lagos Consulate in Nigeria. So we would really appreciate hearing back from individuals who recently went through the interview process in Lagos. See our questions below! Thanks in advance!

    1. What type of support should I attach to the Affidavit of Support (I-134)? Is this correct? Or should I add more support? So far I am including the following:

    i. Tax transcripts from 2009, 2010, and 2011

    ii. Employment verification letter

iii. Pay stubs (5 to 6)

iv. A copy of my birth certificate

    2. Included in Packet 3, the OF-167 Affidavit of Support Instructions (Lagos form) it states that my tax transcripts must be notarized? Is this necessary for his interview? I was planning on emailing him copies of my tax transcripts. Has anyone had issues during their K1 interview for not having their tax transcripts notarized?

    3. Do I need to send my original birth certificate to my fiancé for his upcoming interview? Or is a photo copy sufficient?

    4. The DS-156K form states: “The following documents must be attached in order to apply for a Fiance Nonimmigrant visa – Your birth certificate, evidence of engagement to your finance, evidence of financial support, and police certificates.” Are we suppose to attach additional documents to this form? It seems that all the documentation within our K1 petition and Packet 3 documents will support what they are requiring. Please help clarify? Specifically, evidence of our engagement….we do not have the receipt for the engagement ring and we do not have any pictures of me wearing an engagement ring.

    5. In preparation for his interview, which documents should he make extra copies of?

    6. Can the $240 visa fee be paid in US Dollars or Naira?
