  1. I travelled to the states as a tourist (esta, visa waiver), got married and went back home. How else should you be married to file for the cr1 visa? Or all the people flying in to get married in Vegas are not doing anything wrong eiither. It's only illegal to travel into the states with the intention to stay.

Now still she shouldn't tell the immigration officers right away that she will get married to a USC because he might suspect she wants to stay afterwards. (I took my engagement ring off, told the officer I'm visiting my boyfriend (only when he asked who I'm going to) and had binding ties to Germany with me (nobody wanted to see those)

Long story short, you guys really don't need a lawyer!

  2. If you will have a regular case without circumstances that will make it complicated (such as your fiancé having a criminal record) then you really don't need a lawyer. That would be a waste of money because if you are well informed about everything then the whole thing isn't such a big deal and can be perfectly done (I would even say sometimes better) without one.

Good luck and have a great wedding day!

  3. Hi.

First and foremost my apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I would like to share our story and hopefully get some straightforward answers as even the attorneys seem confused with this one.

I met, what is now my wife, on an internet dating site.she was planning on traveling to the UK. She arrived and we met. Spent some time together in the UK. Her mother and daughter flew in and we went off to ireland. Her mother then flew back to the USA and together with my daughter and hers we then travelled to Greece and France.

This all took place between april 2012 and august 2012

She then flew back to the USA. I flew out to the USA around two weeks later after applying for an ESTA or VWP.

We travelled to Belize and Cozumel. I stayed in the USA until December 2012 when I returned to the UK. She followed me back to the UK on 26th December 2012 and left again on the 8th january only to return to the UK 2 weeks later. We travelled to France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Italy.

Whilst in Italy I proposed. She flew back to the USA around 2nd week in February.

I flew over to the USA April 2nd and married April 27th 2012.

    IMPORTANT

Neither of us had pre planned this before my trip. It just kinda seemed the normal progression in our relationship.

    Ok

We went back to Belize on honeymoon and when returning I was asked by borders who lived at the address on my form I filled in. When I told him my wife he nearly fainted. I was told I needed a different visa to stay in the USA. I explained that I had a ticket back to the UK where we planned to live. He accepted this and re stamped my passport exclaiming "in that case have a wedding present from immigration, congratulations" I wished him well and proceeded to my onward flight to Phoenix.

We both flew back to the UK on 26th June 2013.

Unfortunately due to the Uk's immigration laws and moreover the fact that it came out that my wife hates the UK she flew home October 22nd 2013.

I then flew over 22nd December 2013 with a flight back to the UK on February 1st.

My question is what is the quickest way of obtaining a visa to come and join my wife, settle down into married life and not have to wonder when we will see each other again.

Filing a cr1 visa, it's not fast but the way to go

  4. Danger men! at VERY BEST you will be sitting on a ticking time-bomb when you obtain your foreign wife's/spousal visa. You will likely be held captive by her and she can control you with this.

Lol now that's pretty dramatic isn't it?? I'm sorry about the situation you are in but this one made me laugh and had to let the husband know right away cause yay I can control him, good to know lol (sorry had to say it)

  5. wow reading all this is just crazy! i dont understand why some people have to wait forever for an approval and others get it so fast (we filed oct 2012 and it was in missouri and approved after 4 weeks)

it all seems to be so random! sorry for you guys who have to wait so long, keep your heads up!

  6. hi everybody, we are still at the NVC stage but i would like to know if i could delay the interview appointment once i get one. im just curious because my mom wants to go on a last vacation with me before i will leave and im worried the interview appointment will be set for that exact time i would be gone.

my embassy will be frankfurt, germany if thats important.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. My choice of agent form was delivered on a Saturday.when i tracked the letter it said they left a notification and if it wouldn't be picked up within 15 days it would be send back...so i prepared to wait till it gets back to my husband and have him send it again but a week later we got an email from nvc stating they received the choice of agent blablabla

guess they sent their intern to pick my letter up lol

  8. Hi to everybody,i hope everyone is doing good with a smooth process!

I would like to know who can/has to pay the two fees (for aos and the package) can i do that or does my husband have to pay that (he's the us citizen) i put him as the agent,so important thinking he might have to? Or does it really not matter? (for explanation: i would like to pay for it directly on the portal and iim just wondering if that's ok)

    Tia

  9. Destruction and chaos on a global scale. Then the people who thought the world would end on 12/21/2012 would claim that it was the Mayan prediction and they were just off a little on the dates.

What would happen if the government of the US would actually admit that aliens are real?

that would be a decent explanation for george w. bush

does a jelly fish have emotions??

  10. So, if you're lucky, in about 3 months, you'll get approval and then you file the next steps.

If you're not so lucky, in about 4 or 5 months you get approval and then file next steps.

If you're really unlucky (hopefully none of us recent filers are!) then you get approval in more than 5 months and file next steps.

You will need to prepare the Affidavit of Support and DS230 sheets.

I can't see what country your from to delve into that further, however, because you could be required to do the 260 online.

And if he's real lucky it will take 4 weeks :-P

I think he said his wife is from the uk
