    Hi guys!

    Congrats to all!

Update on my case: My mother did the sputum and we waited at least 8 weeks until we can reschedule the interview.   My mom had her interview on August 9. Everything was ok. We are just waiting for the visa right now.

Hi @Lane O good to hear from you! thanks for the update. Congratulations to you and your mom on passing the embassy interview! 🎉🎊🥂

@davendale  do you mean the "mytimeline"? or the one that show up under my response?  i was confused

@nix and lai sorry to confuse you. i mean the timeline that shows up under your response. how did you do it? i don’t also see an option to edit my reply once i submit it. is it the same as yours? but i see some response from other members that has “edited” at the bottom though. maybe i will try to log in to a different device to see if it has the option i was looking for.

anyways, hope all goes well with your application. keep us posted!

    Godbless!

    congrats @davendale!!!!

as for me i called nvc and they said they received my documents last july 16. and said to wait upto 3 weeks... im hoping everything ok and will have my parents interview schedule by the. how many weeks did it take for you after submitting all your required documents

    Thank you @nix and lai:D

that’s a great news! 3 weeks might be the current wait time but you might get “case complete” earlier than that, just keep calling NVC. They received my documents 5/7, case complete 5/17. i got an email for interview schedule 5/31. hopefully you will get yours at the end of this month.

do you mind sharing how did you do your timeline? i couldn’t figure out how to do it on mine

    thanks much!

I'm preparing the I-130 for my mother. As far as I understand, I have to send the I-130, the payment, and my birth certificate showing both of our names. Are there any other documents that I'm required to send? Is it recommended to send the I-864 with I-130 or to wait until they ask for it? I'm seeing conflicting info on this.

Any advice/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

@CharethScarn include a copy of your naturalization certificate and US passport. you can also refer to this link http://www.visajourney.com/content/immigration-parents

the I-864 is not required until you get to the NVC stage.

    hope this helps!

I have a question about filing I-130 for my widow mother,

Do I need to find and submit the marriage certificate? Or it's enough to submit the martial status certificate, where it indicates she is widowed?

maybe the link below can help answer your questions

    Hi everyone,

I am in the process of gathering the documents I need to petition my mother from the Philippines and I've seen lots of spelling errors on my mother's name.

Mother's birth certificate : (full name removed) - This is her real name and will be on her passport too

My birth certificate : (full name removed)

My marriage certificate : (full name removed)

    I don't know where to start :(

I hope you can share your experience if you have one.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi! it should be fine. my mom’s name on my birth certificate is just her nickname and embassy accepted it. she just submitted NBI with AKA for all the names used on her documents. she had her interview 2 weeks ago.

    For instance,

Mom’s name on her birth certificate and passport: MA. KURDAPYA (first name)  ANTAGAL (middle name) DIMAUTACAN (last name)

Mom’s name on her marriage certificate: KURDAPYA (first name) ANTAGAL (middle name) DIMAUTACAN (last name)

Mom’s name on my birth certificate: KURDIE (nickname as her first name) D. (middle initial) BULAGSACATOTOHANAN (last name which is her married name)

The embassy did not require my marriage certificate.

NOTE: the names i used was just an example, these are not the real names of my mom.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi - thanks for responding.

I understand about the DS-260 confirmation page - we are a little ways away from that step yet.

My question was about DS-261 (Choice of Agent Form) and it is a form the beneficiary also needs to fill and sign. I does have a beneficiary e-Sign page. I had my parents fill DS-261 and e-sign and submit. After submitting, they got an option to "Email Confirmation". They clicked on it and I as well as my parents got the email confirmation. Just putting that info. here in case it is useful for someone else who is searching for an answer.

You’re welcome! we are here to help each other. this site has been a tremendous help for me being able to pass the nvc stage with no delays. i’m just giving something back in return through responding to questions if i know the answer and sharing my experiences about the process.

you did the right thing, any form requiring e-signature should be signed by the beneficiary. i don’t remember my ds-261 form having an e-signature so I filled it out myself. it’s interesting ‘cause i thought it’s the same for everyone.

thanks for sharing your info above, it is indeed helpful to other members. Good-luck to you!  i’m pretty sure you will pass the nvc stage with no rfe:)

I am actually asking about DS-261 (Choice of Agent and Address Form). That has to be filed by the beneficiaries also. My dad and mom will fill and sign those. Question was: After DS-261 (Agent form) is complete, do we get to go in and print the confirmation. But for now, I have asked my parents to note down the Confirmation No. and click on Email Confirmation once they have signed and submitted the DS-261.

when i was filling out the ds-261 form (choice of agent) for my mom i don’t remember a required e-signature for the beneficiary to sign so i thought you were asking about the ds-260 which requires this. the printed confirmation page of the ds-260 is one of the requirements for the visa interview and in my case for advance medical exam. i fill out mom’s ds-261 (choice of agent) but did not print out the confirmation page (unless i want to keep it for a record)

my first answer to your question was pertaining to ds-260 (about the signature). regarding your question, YES you (petitioner) can still log in and print or email the confirmation after the ds-261 form has completed and submitted. having your parents complete the choice of agent form, take note of the confirmation #  amd click the email confirmation option/tab is also a good idea but you can do this yourself as a petitioner.

    THANK YOU...

    — you’re eelcome

IM PLANNING TO FILL UP THE I864 AND I864A...

    — what do you mean by this? are you planning to fill out both forms by yourself?

1.) SHOULD I USE THE TOTAL INCOME INSTEAD OF TO THE ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME? (SINCE WE USE 1040 FORM WHEN WE FILE OUR TAXES?)

     we used adjusted gross income

2.) HOW MANY TAX TRANSCRIPT DID YOU ATTACHED IN YOUR I864/I864A? I ONLY HAVE THE RECENT ONE. BUT F I NEED TO SUBMIT THE MOST 3 CURRENT YEAR IM GOING ON MONDAY AT IRS TO REQUEST A TAX TRANSCRIPT.

    — we only attached the most recent tax transcript since we checked the “yes” option in part 6 23.a of I-864 form and part 4 1.a in I-864a form

    — you also have an option to send the last 3 years of your tax transcript if you checked box 23.b in I-864 and part 4 1.b for i864a but again this is optional

Hi - yes, that is what I am doing also. I am having my parents sign their own forms. Best to follow the instructions to the letter to be on the safe side. One quick question. My parents don't have access to a printer at home. Will I be able to print the confirmation after my parents have completed their DS-261 forms? I mean, is the confirmation page available if they log out and I log in to print it? Or is it only shown once after they complete the form?

I can't find any info. on this question. I suppose the status will show as COMPLETE or SUBMITTED after my parents submit the form and perhaps I can click it on the main page and print the confirmation?

mom doesn’t have computer and printer at home so she went to an internet cafe. my brother help her to log in, sign and print the confirmation. yes, you can access and print it still after they sign.  there is a tab “SIGN” at the upper right hand of the page, tap there and it will give you options to print the ds260 form, print confirmation, email confirmation etc...

Hi Guys - just getting prepared for the next steps for my parents' cases. I see that the DS-261 has to be signed by the applicants (parents) and not the petitioner. Did you get your parents to sign it or is it ok for petitioner to sign it?

I let my mom sign the ds-261 form. i gave her the info to log in and have her printed the confirmation page. i am not sure if it’s okay for the petitioner to sign it since that form is for the beneficiary. just to be on the safe side, let your parents sign it if possible.

thank you... i will filled it tomorrow then... i hope everything will go smoothly...

just hang in there and pray, everything will be okay.  wait for the ds261 form to become available online. mine took 5 days with weekends and holiday before the form became clickable but that was 4 months ago. it might be longer or shorter this time.
