  1. YAY Uscis updated the status to give a USPS tracking number for the EAD card. Expected delivery - this Saturday. Wow! AP still says initial review but I guess I'll find out in a day or so if it's included on the EAD card. Here's hoping!

Jordan's is supposed to arrive today. Only shows this status for the EAD. I'll let you know if a combo card shows up.

Questions....Do you have to be home to sign for it? Or is it just delivered with the mail?

  2. Looking forward to hearing the details...

Of course we had with us every piece of paper ever associated with this whole process with us. We carried one folder with everything that was on the interview letter check list and then we had a back up folder with everything else...just in case (totally useless haha)

He had our entire file on the desk which I'm think included everything we've ever sent in or supplied up to this point.

So all he asked for during the interview was our ID's, which we both gave him our passports. He then returned our original Marriage Certificate that I had sent with the package.

After he told us we were going to be approved, he then asked for what else we want to show him. I was a bit baffled by this but after reading Mogambi's post, it makes sense. He wanted to add the stuff to our file for when we file for ROC.

I showed him wedding photos, reception receipts and our invitation. A stack of photos spanning our entire relationship (about 20) and he looked at all of them (making cracks about Carnival's woes when looking at our cruise pics). I then presented him with the financial stuff (no joint accounts since we could not add him without a CA DL) but I did show car insurance in both our names, all the beneficiary stuff, the documents adding him to my health insurance and any bill he had sent to him at our address, etc. He looked at all of it, made copies of the stuff we wanted back and put it all in the file.

That was it! Hope this helps

  3. Good to hear from you AnnaLouise!

I hear ya on the paperwork, I don't want to see another USCIS form for....well, I guess it's 21 months now.

    Update:

We had our AOS interview in Santa Ana on the 2nd and we were APPROVED!!

Jordan's EAD/AP card was approved on the 28th and is supposed to arrive tomorrow, not that it really matters at this point. We'll have the GC a week later. LOL

The process went really quickly for us.

I was ready to burn the huge folder I've created that has every document we've ever needed for this whole process but Jordan would let me. He said too much work went into it so I told him to put it where I didn't have to look at it. LOL

  4. Back to work today and somewhat hurting from yesterday's celebration. It still hasn't sunk in yet that I'm done with the USCIS for 21 months.

They just changed our status to say that they are mailing the EAD card. LOL I think we may receive it a day or two before the GC.

We had a very good experience in Santa Ana. For the K-1 interview in Vancouver we had to wait 2 hours and it was very crowded. This place wasn't very busy at all. We turned in our appointment letter and were told to sit and wait. 20 minutes later they called Jordan's name. We were sworn in and the first question was "So...what did you do last weekend" This caught us a bit off guard but we soon both answered and then he just asked more casual questions, almost like making small talk. Very relaxed. Jordan then had to answer all the I-485 questions. Then the guy asked what we had planned for the rest of the day and I replied "hopefully celebrating" and Jordan say "we don't want to be presumptuous" and then the guy said "oh, don't worry, you are already approved" WHEW! He then asked what else we had to show him and I hauled out our pile of evidence. He looked at all of it and made copies of a lot of it. Guess they need the stuff for our file.

He explained that those adjusting from K-1's are usually a slam dunk (probably said in different words). He said we just want to make sure you got married in the 90 days.

So that was it! In and out in just 40 minutes.

  5. Wooooo so I have been checking uscis.gov over and over and this morning our EAD/AP was still in initial review. I logged in this afternoon and it said that EAD was in card document /production!!! As of March 29... so apparently since Friday. I guess it just didn't update till this afternoon! Our AP still says initial review though but judging by what some of you have said it should come with it. Sounds like they can be slow on updating. Oh boy!!!!!! Now to see how long it takes to arrive in the mail. But hope! :D

WooHoo! We're one day before so I'll let you know as soon as ours shows up.

  6. Our timelines are very close and it makes me think we would have heard something by now if we had an interview. I really don't know. I'm glad you at least get the AOS updates. Hope you get approved at your interview and no worries about the EAD/AP!

Yep, my guess is that you wont have to do an interview. Glad you got your EAD/AP approval already!

Now I'm stressing getting everything organized for the interview. Ugh. We just moved 3 weeks ago and now are in the middle of doing some remodeling. What a mess! I'll be glad when this is over.

  7. Glad to hear it's possible sk8rpatty. The CBP office in Seattle tells me I can't import my car on a K1 without a greencard which is totally incorrect so I have to wait till I have permission to go to Canada and re-enter the states so I can import it at the border since the local guys won't help. He wouldn't believe me if I told him you managed to import it either. *roll eyes* I have half a mind to get every K1 who has done it to phone him and prove he is wrong. Alas he is the kind of person that would still refuse to believe. So, I am just going to wait a bit longer to import.

They told him the same thing on the phone. :bonk: Then he went there in person with all his documents to try again. After talking to several people they finally signed the form for the DMV. They told him he will need to come back after he receives his GC...but not sure for what reason. It's amazing how they are more confused than we are. LOL

We were afraid we were going to have to make the trip back again with the car...which for us is a looonnng drive!

  8. sk8rpatty just curious - where did he register the car - aka did he import it at POE or somewhere down in Cali?

He registered it here. We drove the car down years ago from Vancounver and left it at my house. (old car couldn't make the trip back without a lot of work. LOL ) It was not easy. It took 4 trips to the DMV and a trip to the CBP office in Long Beach to get it done. Luckily the car was originally purchased in the states so it was a US spec car, which helped.

  9. Adjusting from K-1 here and our interview is next week. It sounds like location may have more to do with it. Who knows. We have still not heard a word on his EAD/AP. The USCIS web site still says the case numbers cannot be found. I'm glad we got all the updates for the AOS and the interview or we would be quite worried right now.

Jordan has been driving with his Canadian license and was able to register the car he drove here from Canada. California wouldn't let him do anything for the license until he could show residency (EAD or GC) He's been studying for the test though and will take it as soon as he receives his docs. We're lucky that State Farm will insure you with a Canadian license.

  10. Has anyone had to submit a change of address form while the AOS is still pending?

    Anyone know?

I haven't but I'm in a similar situation. We just moved into our new home 3 weeks ago, but I haven't submitted a change of address. I've heard too many horror stories about it getting screwed up. I haven't rented my other place yet so my neighbor is picking up my mail for me. He's retired and enjoys this task, it also guarantees my visits to pick up mail. LOL

Any success stories here with address changes? Or can this come up in the interview that the address doesn't match when we show evidence that contains our new address? It can all be explained, but not sure I want to say "I didn't change it because the USCIS is too incompetent to handle an address change"

  11. Hey!

Yeah, the USCIS site doesn't always show that information. It never said anything about EAD/AP for us either, the 'testing & interview' message.

Even THAT message hasn't change, and it SHOULD have been update, since our AOS interview date will change.

Any who, got my ESD/AP card about a month after the bio appt.

    Good luck !

We did get the updated status showing our interview date, but the other 2 receipt numbers cannot be found, maybe they never will show up. We're just happy to have our interview date so we don't have to worry about the other two.

GC came in the mail today, a week after our interview! We've officially done with 1st half of this immigration journey.

    Good luck to all!

    Great news! Congratulations!!
