Hi all,
I have tried to find a definitive answer to this question: do I need to fill out a DS230 for both myself and my spouse? so 2 DS-230 forms in total?
I did ready conflicting answers, and the DS230 form is also slightly ambiguously formulated.
I suspect the answer is: Yes you need to send a form for each person. But I would like to be sure.
Thank you.
I had the same question when the immigration office asked my wife to fax her DS-230 to them. The way I understood it on the DS-230 is that we both were supposed to submit a DS-230, however after speaking to the lady in the immigration office, she informed me that only my wife who is the immigrant needs to submit the DS-230. I'm in Manila, Philippines so my advice is to call your local embasy to verify with them. Ask for the immigration department.

Hi everyone. My wife has certified copies of some of the documents she needs to bring to the interview later this month, but they have two holes punched out at the top of the papers. Is this ok or do we need to get another set of certified documents with no holes. Also is it ok to staple certain papers such as copies together? I told her that it is better to have no holes in the original certified copies, but wanted to see what you guys know who have already been to the interview. The original certified copies of documents include her NSO, Birth Certificate, CENOMAR, etc. Thanks.

We filed DCF Manila. Look at my timeline below to see the expected timeframe. After two months, you can start to call the USCIS to see if your I-130 is approved. Once approved, they will forward it to the immigration office. After it has been forwarded to the immigration office, immediately fill out the DS-230 and fax it to their office for expedited results. You will still recieve packet #3 in the mail, but you will not have to do anything with it. After your DS-230 has been uploaded which takes about a week, you can call up the scheduling operator to schedule your interview date; they will verify with immigration that your DS-230 has been uploaded and schedule you. You can schedule an interview as soon as one week later. In the mean time, take your medical, and make sure you have all your documents. When in doubt if you need a document, bring it, however they will provide a list of the documents you will need. Yes you will need all the documents that you provided to the USCIS with your I-130. You need these same duplicate papers to keep in a folder in which you will bring to the states and give to the customs agent upon arrival. Do a lot of research on this site and on the net for further questions. Hope this helped.

CONGRADULATIONS............
I was wondering since you talked to several of the other applicants while waiting, if you knew if the CR1 applicants are going through the same interview process that you know of? Thanks.

Go ahead and get married in the U.S. It will not hurt anything. If anything it will help. Just dont lie to U.S. athorities about anything, but you can do as you mentioned and tell them you two are visiting the family...That's not lying. Goodluck.

Thank you for the replies, everyone. Rather than printing pages and pages of separate e-mail messages, would it be worthwhile to print a listing of all the emails (dates included) under his filter in my gmail inbox, then print a some sample e-mails?
Does your passport have to get stamped when you drive across the boarder into Canada? If so then just make copies of those stamps on your passport to show the number of times that you have been there to visit him along with all the other supporting evidence you have. I even took a picture of my wife and I holding a newspaper with the date clearly visible and submitted that along with my joint bank info, lease, cell phone bills, utilities, etc.

Coming from a man's point of view, I would divorce that idiot immediately. This guy does not deserve you. I know it is hard to make the transition from marrage to someone you loved to being single especially in a foriegn country, but believe in yourself and be strong. Also pray a lot. Pray for guidance. Get out of that relationship and I promise that your life will take on new meaning and perseverance. After about 6 months of being single, you will be much happier in life. Stay positive and strong and get out while you still have strength.

So if you guys remember my last thread about the difficult interview, I was real worried. Well I called the embassy today to ask when would I get my letter and he said "Well we sent the approval letter on Tuesday, your case has already gone to Consular..." and I said, trying not to scream in joy, "Um I'm sorry approved?" and he said yes.
So I'm waiting for my letter and he said I should get what I think is Packet 3 in about a month :-)
Am I meant to submit more evidence for the final interview itself, by the way?
After the I-130 is approved, you should recieve packet #2 in which you submit both of your Bio's (G325a) along with the petitioners financial affidavit of support (I-864). Once that is approved then you will recieve packet #3. Then you can get excited.

No. He does not need a job here in the Philippines. If he is an American Citizen, his income will be based off his Income Tax Return for 2011 last year if he's already filed it or the year before if not. If he is retired then his income is still based off his Income Tax Return from last year. He could include current earnings, however that would involve those earnings that are earned from the states because that will be the earnings that he proves where he can support you even if it does include his sister, it has to be at least above the poverty base line. More information found on the following site.

Immigration would rather everyone file via lockbox in the United States, however if a U.S. citizen who has married a foriegnor and has established residency in a foriegn country for at least 6 months and can prove it with copy of lease, local bank account, pictures with newspaper dates in photos, electric bills, cable bills, cell phone bills, etc all in their own name preferably also with their new spouse's name as well, then and only then will the local U.S. Embasy intertain your I-130 application via DCF.

Not sure about the divorce decrees, but my advice is when in doubt, send it. Also make sure you write N/A in all empty spaces that need it otherwise it will be sent back to you. Good luck.
