So about the trip to Canada with the extension letter: i didn't need my passport in the end. Since Russians need a visa generally to go to Canada and GC holders don't, they check the GC and extension letter to let me both in and out.
In other news: i just checked my case status and it says "New card is being produced. On August 30, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number xxx, and will mail it to the address you gave us."
It means i got it, right???

The wedding will be a whole nother level of stress, Russian law is to wait 32 days for an appointment to get married and tourist visas only last 30 days so I'll have to try and get a business visa.
Why don't you get a private homestay visa? It's already been mentioned in this thread, i believe. You can stay in the country for more than 30 days on it.
On what grounds would you get a business visa?

I'm going to Canada in a couple of weeks, by car. Do i need to carry my passport together with expired GC and extension letter?.. Grateful for any piece of advice.

Another way to make it easier for Vermont and California is to have them in different sheets of the document. Then people would just go to theirs. Curious for other people's thoughts.

Had my biometrics today - well, that was super easy! And there was only one other person doing this there. I was early (like 12:15 instead of by 1) and i was done and out within 15 minutes.
My letter said to not bring the cellphone but inside it just said to keep them in silent mode and stuff, so i could've brought one. Was sitting outside reading for an hour, waiting for my husband to pick me up lol. (He had to run an errand in parallel and we didn't know how long it'd take).

Not just you, from what I've seen on here the noa1 number can't be found/has no info - it's the letter about biometrics that has a different case number that you can then use to keep track of your case but then they are not very good about updating it for roc.

It's the first time I hear about this... is there any danger in sending all our info???
I'd do tracking for the parcel when sending. Other than that it's literally paranoia speaking (ok, i think i'm misusing the word 'literally' here but anyway).
Sending documents like that always opens possibility for identity theft and whatnot should they fall into wrong hands, doesn't it? So just make the sending as secure as possible. I always try to minimize exposure when possible. Credit card numbers are not required for the application, so why show them? I'm already showing my SSN and feeling uncomfortable about that, too.

i'd black out parts of credit card numbers, account numbers and such (but that's just cause i'm paranoid).

My company (consulting) offers 15 days of paid vacation + up to 10 days based on tenure with the company. That's not too shabby. In Moscow i had 31 calendar days though + lots of nationally recognized holidays. The US could use some more of those.
I have 20 days of PTO per year, while my spouse has 25 days.
We both are in IT/Engineering field.
There is no sick leave though, so I still go to office even if I am sneezing and coughing
Hmm, can you work from home when sick?.. My employer is fairly flexible in this regard.
