  1. Get the name fixed! They don't care who her step dad is - they want info on her father! It's about security and background checking.

Sending a second marriage certificate with your package will accomplish nothing except maybe creating confusion.

Correct the info. Why is this a big deal?

Besides going late to work it's not :P I'm gonna get it fixed, was trying to find a easy fix. But in the end if it delays my application with a RFE then its not worth it. Ill just fix it

  2. I actually had a similar situation. Not step-father and birth father, exactly,

But there was a slight difference in my dad's name on my birth certificate, and the one I put down to be on our marriage certificate.

This was because, my whole life I thought that my dad's name was a nick name and his full name was something else.

Just for illustration: everyone reffered to him as Jack Doe and so I always assumed his full name was John Doe.

Well I double checked with my mother and his name was legally Jack Doe :bonk:

So we went back to the town hall to ask for a corrected certificate.

Luckily they hadn't sent it away to the main office for filing yet, so it was just a matter of retyping a new one.

So the corrected one was what we sent with the AOS forms.

My wife suggested me to send her mom's marriage certificate along with application as that would have step dad's name on it and that should clarify situation to USCIS but im not sure if thats the right way to go about it. Should i just send her mom's marriage certificate or i shud go and get the name fixed?

  3. That's what I am suggesting she all the licensing state for. They would be the best ones to get an answer on that from. I would imagine its not the first time info needed corrected so they may have some process for it.

Unless she was actually adopted that is - I don't think you responded to that question. That may change things.

I dont think she was adopted in 89. She was 2 yrs old and her mom just married and her new husband automatically became her father. So wherever she went she used his name. Could there be a way to get a certified letter or something from her current dad which cud help lol

  4. We just got married and my wife & me are filing I130 & I485 for me. I just saw that she has her biological fathers name on her Birth certificate. Her biological dad divorced and split from family when she was 2 and passed away 5 yrs back. But when we got married she gave her current dad's name which is on marriage certificate. The reason she gave her step dads name was coz she considered him to be her father all her life. Now all the forms we have filled and marriage certificate has her step dads name but Birth Certificate has real dads name. Will there be a problem? What should we do now? Thanks,
