  1. I believe so, because you want him to exit the Philippines on his Philippines passport to avoid paying the penalties for exiting on the US passport related to having overstayed, or not having had a Philippines Visa in the US passport (even though the child never "entered" the Philippines. When the child gets to the US he/she will enter on their US Passport.

  2. While this is true in some cases, it isn't in all cases. We filed my wife's I-130 May 21, 2013 - NOA 1 received May 29, 2013. The petition was approved in July 23, 2013 (55 days). Her case was received at NVC August 5, 2013 where they assigned her MNL number, this week, and sent the bill for the Affidavit of Support. So while some cases are taking longer, not all are. There are several posters on here that are relating similar timelines.

  3. Elisabeth,

I don't know how we got approved so fast; it was just a routine filing with no expedite request. However, being approved so fast can be a curse as much as a blessing because now we are waiting for my minor son's to be approved so that he can go through the process with my wife. We have made an expedite request on his and are scheduled to clal them next week to chack the status of that request.

  4. We filed our I-130's on May 22, 2013. My wife's went to the California Service Center (CSC) and my son's was sent to the National Benefits Center (NBC). My wife's was petition (I-130) approved on July 23, 2013. Did a service request to, through a tier 2 officer on July 26, 2013 asking that my son's petition be expedited to bring his in synch with my wife's. Tier 2 officer said to check back on August 10 on status.of the expedite request (which the tier 2 said shouldn't be a problem) so keeping my fingers crossed.

  5. I don't know how you can consider people being truthful in their reponse to you as not being supportive. They were supportive in the respect that they were giving advice to keep you from getting yourself in trouble. Many of us here struggle financially and emotionally to bring our loved ones together. Best of Luck - struggle and do it the right way. It will save you many hassles and heartbreak in the long run. Best of Lucka nd don't give up hope.

  6. I agree with those saying do not wait to send it. Copy your receipt, it has barcode on it, so they can match it up. Send the documents to where you know the case to currently be assigned to. Keep copies of everything. You can also call the service center and make a service request. If you send the docs, and for some reason they do not match the docs up, you are no worse off. If you don't send them and wait for an RFE - you will be doing exactly that - waiting. You have nothing to lose by sending the docs. I recently opened a service reuest on our case. They told me to call back in 15 days to be assured that it was completed. Before the 15 days I had expired, I received an e-mail confirming that it was completed. It was a VERY smooth and easy process.
