  2. You're welcome, glad to share my experience to help others out there - as a lot of people on here have helped me along the way!

About Chicken Pox.. Dr. Waks just asked me if I had it as a child, and I said yes and that was it!

Best of luck to you as well, if you have anymore questions I'll be more than happy to help if I can! :)

I really appreciate the time you have put into all the info you provided. Thanks for the heads up on the Chicken Pox, should save us having to have a blood test done.... I know the kids will appreciate one less needle! I could show the Doctor photos of the kids spots :)

  3. Hey!

Book your medical exam ASAP in Sydney with Dr. Waks - the sooner you get it done the better (I don't know what their wait times are like as I was still in the US visiting my fiancé when I booked in mine.) I just had my medical exam in Sydney this Tuesday.

A bit of info about booking it in:

When I first called to book in my medical, I spoke to the reception lady and she asked for my Case Number - I told her that I was yet to receive it, but I would have it by the time I had my medical exam (which is true - I called the NVC exactly a week after I got our NOA2 in the mail and got it then.) I'd go ahead and book in your appointment ASAP (I had mine with Dr Wak's and he was lovely).

A few things to make it easier for you for your medical exam - the best way to get there is by Train. Get off at Wynyard train station and walk through the tunnel to George St, the "George Street Medical Centre" is exactly across the road! Also, you do need to walk 5 minutes to the x-ray place which is called "Castlereagh Imaging" but Dr. Waks will first do your physical examination then either take you to Pathology first for your blood test (which is in the same building) then give you directions on paper to get you to Castlereagh Imaging.. I found the directions easy enough and my x-ray results were printed off in about 5mins after having it done, then all you need to do is walk back over to George St Medical and speak to Reception who will tell Dr. Waks you're back with your results, he looked quickly at my x-ray told me all was good and I was fine to leave.

That's pretty much it, nothing invasive at all, and you need to bring along a Express Post envelope, they know exactly where to mail it off to.. so hopefully the consulate will receive all my results in the next few days.. I've also sent off my Packet 3 on Tuesday so I hope most of it is all received together.

Also, once you book your medical exam you will get the following instructions via email, the sooner you can get it all together the better.. this is an exact copy from the email you will get from them:

I hope this info works, and if you have any more questions let me know! :)

    About Immunisations:

If you can't find your childhood immunisation records, contact your local council where you were living at the time around the first 1-2 years of your life, the council keeps all these records on file and doesn't cost a thing to retrieve I got mine on the same day I queried into them. Dr. Waks said the records I obtained from the council were sufficient and I only needed a Flu Vaccination (which cost $20). (This may vary with you depending on age though).

    About payments:

You have to make a few separate payments, one lot with George St Medical office (Mine was $300) then $20 with Pathology (separate) and $80 with Castlereagh Imaging (separate as well). They all take eftpos so you don't need to carry large amounts of cash on you.

WOW!!! Thank you so much for all the info... you're a legend! I have the kids blue books with all their records, looks like they will only need flu shots and HepB. We all had Chicken Pox in 2010, but will probably have to get a blood test to confirm our immunity as the doctor never did a blood test at the time we were spotty. I will need a tetanus (TDP), the MMR and the flu shot. I will make an appointment with my GP to get all that done before I make my appointment for my medical, so I am well prepared on the day. Thank You again and all the best on your journey!!!

  5. Thank You to everyone for your help. I will call the Physician in Sydney and see how soon I can book our Medical Exams, hopefully I can travel up to Sydney and have them done as soon as I receive our case number. We got our NOA2 on the 3rd of August, so hopefully the case number soon. Can't believe we got our NOA2 so quickly, 86 days, hopefully everything else will move quickly and smoothly too.

Best wishes to everyone else playing the waiting game, hopefully we will all finally be with our other halves and enjoying our lives together!!

no urine test now. I just did mine last month.

here is a list to show what you need, based on your age.

    http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html#tbl1

Thanks sooo much for the link....that helps A LOT!!

  6. From my experience, I dealt with the dr's in Brisbane, you have to wait until you are sent your packet 3 from the embassy before you can make your appointment. But I suggest that you call the dr that you plan to visit to see if they will let you go earlier. I assume not though since there is a specific case number assigned to you by the Consulate that is different to the USCIS number.

In regard to the X-Rays, I was sent to a different place to get mine done, but it was done on the same day as the medical. A urine sample was also taken for testing as well. It took over a week for the result to get to me. As I did not live in Brisbane and was unable to pick up the results personally and it cost me extra for them to be posted.

Remember that this was all done at the Brisbane dr's and I do suggest you call the Sydney pyshican to see what they do.

Thank You. I will have to call the Doctor in Sydney and see if I can get any advice. Crazy that Canberra, the so called Capital of Australia, where we have all the Embassies, requires we go to Sydney for our Medical and Visa Interview....Uugh, driving in Sydney is scary!!

Did you have to have all the vaccinations listed on the travel.state.gov site?

    Hepatitis A

    Hepatitis B

    Influenza

    Influenza type b (Hib)

    Measles

    Meningococcal

    Mumps

    Pneumococcal

    Pertussis

    Polio

    Rotavirus

    Rubella

    Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

    Varicella

  7. Hi there. I'm a bit confused about when to get the medical done. On the United States Consulate of Sydney Medical Examination Instructions it says the following

"There are no authorized panel physicians to conduct medical examinations for visa applicants in

South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT; therefore, it is recommended that visa applicants from

these states make an afternoon medical appointment with a Sydney panel physician on the same

    day of their visa appointment".

I live in the ACT, so therefore will have to travel to Sydney to have the medical done, however above that in the instructions it says

"You must bring the medical examination results with you to your formal visa interview", however it also says that the results of the medical exam can take up to 2 weeks.

    Pretty unclear instructions....

Could anyone who has been through the Sydney Consulate (applying for a K-1) please help me. What did you do?

At this stage we have received our NOA2 and waiting for the next step, when am I able to get my medical done?

Also, does the Doctor do the X Rays at your appointment or refer you to an Imaging Centre?

Thanks so much for your help!

  8. Sorry I'm not able to answer this - I've asked the question also, but didn't get a response - how much people take to the interview seems to vary greatly - but I guess the question is whether we can rely on the information as you have quoted. If it is in the instructions, one would think so, but it would be good to get some feedback verifying that fact.

I agree, you would think that if it is in the instructions, then that is all that is needed. It looks like the I 864 affidavit that you must submit once in the US and applying for the AOS is where the further documents are required....but I would love to hear thoughts from anyone who may have have any experience with this.

    Thanks!

  9. Hi, I have a question about the documents needed to provide evidence of financial position. On the form "instructions for form I-134, Affidavit of Support" on the USCIS website it says

As the sponsor you must show you have sufficient income

or financial resources to assure that the alien you are sponsoring

will not become a public charge while in the United States.

Evidence should consist of copies of any of the documents

listed below that applies to your situation.....

.....Submit in duplicate evidence of income

    and resources, as appropriate;

    A. Statement from an Officer of the bank or other financial Institutions with deposits identifying the following details regarding the account

    1. Date the account was opened.

    2. Total amount deposited for the past year; and

    3. Present balance

    B. Statement(s) of your employer on business stationary showing

    1. Date and nature of employment

    2. Salary paid; and

    3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

    C. If Self Employed

    1. Copy of last income tax return filed; or

    2. Report of Commercial rating concern.

I assume you need to provide details from only 1 of 3 options. Part A if you meet the income requirements, or Part B if you are using Assets as evidence and Part B if you are self employed. Am I right that you don't need to provide both income and assets if you have enough of either of these on their own to support the Affidavit? Also, a lot of people are posting questions about providing copies of previous tax returns...from what is listed in the above instructions you only need to provide tax returns if you are self employed. If you working for an employer, it seems that you only need to provide a letter from your employer....it doesn't even mention pay stubs.

There is a lot of advice on VJ to provide tax returns for 1 or 2 previous years and pay stubs, but from what I can see, they are not asking for that if you are providing proof of income from an employer. Is it that people are just wanting to be extra vigilant in the evidence they provide, so therefore providing more than needed, or have people had experience when it comes to submitting the form, that further evidence has been requested that is not listed above in the instructions.

Would love to hear anyones thoughts, advice about this.

    Thanks

    ,

  10. Hi there. We're in a bit of a jam. My US fiancé doesn't meet the income requirements ($42,212 for Alaska with 5 people, myself, my partner and my 3 children) doesn't have the assets needed to make up for that and we don't know of anyone who can be a joint sponsor. Is there anyone out there who can offer us some advice.... faced a similar predicament?? Feeling a little worried. Currently my children and I live comfortably on much less than they are requiring us to show and we are frustrated that we have to meet a relatively high figure.

    Thank You!

  11. If the uncle lives in the USA, and makes enough to sponsor all of you, he can be co-sponsor. The co=sponsor can be any US citizen or greencard holder who lives in the USA.

It looks like I might be able to submit my own income in the affidavit, does anyone know if the income I receive from my ex husband in Child Support, nearly $30,000 a year, is considered income?

    Thanks

post script - just googled this question and looks like the answer is no. Uugh.

  12. Thanks for that. So according to the table, 5 people will mean that my parter will need to provide evidence of an income of $42,212.... he lives in Alaska. He doesn't make that much, obviously once I am allowed to work, our combined income will reach that, but for the I-134, are my savings taken into account, or can I sponsor myself?

    Thanks again!

If we need a co sponsor, which is looking pretty likely, my uncle is a US citizen, would he be able to co sponsor or does the co sponsor need to be someone my US fiancé knows or is related to?

  13. Hi there,

Could anyone let me know what the income requirements are, for providing evidence of ability to support beneficiary. For example, my partner is petitioning for myself and my 3 children under 12 to come over to the US. Does anyone know what the level of income is that we need to provide evidence of, to show that we won't become a public charge, or where we could find that info? Also, do they take into account cash savings that I have?

    Thanks so much

  14. Hi there. My partner and I had a similar question. He has a PO box and does not receive mail at his physical address as it is a rural property and the mail box is down a very long driveway, not particularly secure for receiving important paperwork etc. He phoned the USCIS customer service line and explained the situation. The lady he spoke to was very helpful, she told him not to worry so much, simply write a supplement to that question explaining why you have the two different addresses. We lodged our I 129F and received our NOA1 a week later, by email and by post at his PO Box.

    Good luck!!
