Just had my interview. I'll be taking my oath in a couple of hours. My husband is happy that he doesn't have to take off another day.

My interview is very simple. Questions are pretty basic of my current situation. Stay at home mom etc. How I applied for my green card (through K1 visa). I was able to change my name too. (Just slight changes) The interviewer was pretty nice.

Questions are pretty basic. When was the Declaration of Independence adapted or ratified? Who is the Speaker of the House? What is one of the two longest rivers in the U.S.? What is the first 10 amendments of the Constitution called? I forgot the other two questions. My interviewer saw that I was fidgety before my test and he is told me not to worry. I read one sentence and wrote one sentence.

Please let me know:

1. In the Interview are we supposed give all the answers mentioned in the Booklet for a question I.O asks during the Interview?

2. When Immigration Officer asks us to write a sentence ---Should we write in Cursive or in Bold Letters? Did they ask anybody specifically---In Cursive/Bold

or did they say ---you can write either in Bold or in Cursive.......

3. Do we have to memorize the whole Book word to word the Book they gave us at Biometrics ----

"Learn about the United States Quick Civic Lessons for the Naturalization Test"

or is it just enough to memorize & be thorough with USCIS--Civics (History * Government)---100 Questions & Answers

for the Naturlaization test given at this USCIS link---Study Materials for the Civics Test ?

Oh Im so excited for those of you that just had your interviews! A couple of you peeps have interviews tomorrow so best wishes and keep us posted! My hubbys interview is on Thursday so we are excited about that... and we start on our 9 day off work vacation then, plus our 6yr anniversary is Sunday. We're going to celebrate in Galveston for a couple of those days! yay!

She did not care about cursive/bold or any other writing. I just wrote the sentence the way I usually write. She did not comment on it.

For civics test, she just asked the questions, waited for my answer and wrote it down with a check mark in the "correct" column. I do not think I was asked a question that had multiple answers. I would assume they would be fine with "any" correct answer.

Application approved.

Scheduled interview was at 8:25 AM. Got to the center at 7:50. Called in about 8:30 AM. IO lady was very pleasant. Swore me in and asked for an ID, green card and passport. She went through the application asked questions made notes on my application copy. After that she left with passport and IDs (probably to make a copy). Got back and gave me the English test first. Followed by civics test. Here are the questions she asked.

1) What does the cabinet do?

2) How many years do we elect a senator?

3) In case of president and vice presidents inability, who takes over?

4) How many justices in supreme court?

5) What did the declaration of independence do?

6) Can't recall the sixth one. If I remember I will update the post.

Then she congratulated me and said she is approving my application. She also mentioned that they are having an oath ceremony the same day so come back at 1:45 PM.

She was pleasant and made small talk about kids etc.

Waiting in a coffee shop till 1 PM.

Passed my interview yesterday. It was a piece of cake. Will receive a letter in the mail for my oath ceremony. Good luck to all that are waiting. Toodles USCIS.

I was appointed at 10:30, and since I usually am pretty good at getting lost I drove there well ahead of time. I arrived at the door at 10:00 (after getting lost) and the security guard let me in after going through the metal detector. The interview rooms were in the upper floor, and when I arrived there were 6 or 7 people (with their escorting entourage) in the waiting room. I put my interview letter in the basket and sit in a chair in the first row keeping an eye to see when it is picked. Nobody picks it.

I start going through my manila envelope with papers. Everything is there, I did not mess up this time. I reach for my wallet to pick my green card... not there... cold sweat. It was supposed to be there I always carry it in the tightest pocket of my wallet. I fight my panic and stay in my chair until being called. There is a russian family behind me, talking non stop in russian. A couple of vietnamese ladies over there. And some other people. A older filipino lady comes out from one of the doors, she has some difficulty walking but is overall very cheerful. Apparently she has just passed her interview, and given her mobility problems they have decided to do a one-off with her and allow her oath to be taken today. A fact she is so rejoiced that she cannot resist telling everybody she crosses on her way back to her family that is waiting for her. Another person comes in approaches to drop his interview letter in the basket, mine is no longer there.

In the back end of the waiting room an interview officer tries to explain to a woman that why he needs to reject her mother's application, while a very well dressed indian man comes in to drop his interview letter. He carries the biggest load of supporting documents among the people now in the waiting room.

There are 4 doors labeled "A", "B", "C" and "D" every now and then someone pops out and calls a name. They call my name but it is not for me; someone with a very similar name.

By 10:40 a soft spoken man in his mid/late fifties calls my name. And asks me to follow him. We leave the naturalization section, and we stride into the adjustment-of-status section. The waiting room here is empty in this section of the building. I follow him to his office and before letting me sit down takes my oath of telling the truth. We sit down and he asks for my greencard, and I explain him my problem. He seems totally unexcited about the event, I guess it happens relatively often. He turns to his computer, starts typing something and the printer spews a couple of sheets of papers. It is a sworn statement that I have lost my greencard, two copies that he commands me to fill identically.

While I am filling the two forms, he starts reviewing my N-400, asking me questions along the way. When he gets to the travel section I hand him an addendum to my travel list containing the two trips abroad I took since I submitted my application. He says that he will review the travel list later, which I understand since it is a long list, over 40 or 50 international trips. However he points out that given the intensity of my travel schedule it is very odd that my first reported travel starts in June and not in April.

"I thought the trips will have to be reported from the moment I became a permanent resident."

"No, they need to be reported from 5 years prior to your application."

"My bad! I misunderstood the instructions"

So he helps me scan through my old passports, 4 of them, looking for the one that contains travels in 2007. He finds it and does a quick scan, but he does not find any relevant trip. So he hands me the passport for me to search through while he continues reviewing my application. And I find one in April 2007 that I write down to the addendum I had handed him.

Exam time!

* What is the name of the national anthem?

* What is the rule of law?

* What ocean is on the west coast of the US?

* How old do citizens have to be to vote for president?

* What major event happened on Sept. 11 2001?

* Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

As I answers he writes down my responses. After the sixth question he seems confused; he has lost the count, so he proceeds to recount the number of questions and then ticks them all as correct and signs at bottom of the sheet.

He hands me another paper and asks me to read the first sentence: "How many senators do we have?" Then, he turns over the sheet and asks me to write in the first box "We have one hundred senators?'

"Block letters or cursive?"

"Does not matter..."

"Good, my cursive is close to illegible"

"Please write 'one hundred' in letters, not with digits"

I do so, and he informs me that I have passed the interview, and that my application will be recommended for approval, and that within a few days I will receive a letter with the oath appointment or a request for more evidence if he deems it necessary after carefully scrutinizing my travel history. Next oath date is July 26. I hope it gets adjudicated before that.

While he walks me out he hands me an envelope with forms for requesting a US passport after the oath ceremony, and a sheet of paper stapled to it congratulating me on having passed the interview.

All in all, a pleasant experience. The interview officer was always courteous and soft spoken and it made the interview flow like a very friendly chat.

At last! Just got an email that I have been placed for interview!! Gotta wait for that paper to come in the mail within 2 weeks!!!

@ dbears and Vsp: I hope so too. The soonest day that my case reaches 30 days after being placed in line for interview, I will definitely call them. This is not the first time they had screwed my case. This has been happening ever since I had to adjust status. First, they lost my medical info and I had to redo all of my medical from K1, gave me a 10 yr GC instead of a 2yr one, gave me an RFE saying that I'm not due to remove status based on the wrong GC they gave me, rejected my N400 packet and I don't think they gave me my priority date back at all. I totally understand that they have to process a lot of applications a day but they should at least think that if it was them in our shoes, they won't be happy on how slow processing is in every local USCIS office. I better stop now. This is my frustration talking. Lol

After not moving for a month, Hubby's case was updated twice in 4 days, first in line and now scheduled. He's not excited like I am, maybe because I've done all the paperwork and worrying with USCIS!

The oath ceremony was in Philadelphia but we live in DE and biometrics were in Dover.

How was the Oath Ceremony at Philadelphia?

When we go for interview at Philadelphia, PA--Are we allowed to take Cell Phones/swithched off just in case? Or if by mistake we have the cell phones

with us are we allowed to deposit it with the Security Officers there at 1600 Callowhill. I am just wondering since I have my Interview

at Philadelphia I may have to take my cell phone with me till there as I need to call a cab after the Interview

and do they allow to deposit Cell Phone there. How are the Surroundings there?

Just trying to relax a little bit.... I am more anxious than nervous.... got my interview scheduled for 3:00 pm today in San Antonio and was looking around and thankfully seems the process is very friendly thanks VisaJourney people!!!

I cant believe how time goes so fast... I can still remember myself making K1 visa questions some years ago and now I am almost done with Citizenship

Does anyone knows if Russia has any issues with double citizenship???
