  1. Marilyn, hang in there during recovery. It doesn't sound like fun, especially on top of all the other pregnancy symptoms. Hope you feel better soon. We have a boy and girls' name picked out complete with middle names but we have changed our minds once on both already so we'll see if they last till the baby is born. But they are perfect at the moment!! Just curious, how did you pick your names? We combed through lists online, meanings, and also thought about family on both sides as far as middle names go. If we change our minds again I guess it's back to the Google!

Oh I found this nifty website called: http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/

You can look up baby names, and it has a section you can click on called 'suitability' where people with that name rank how many people have trouble spelling it, pronouncing it, any possible nicknames, etc. I found it fascinating!

Kimbear I'm sorry you didn't get a better response from family. That has got to be hard :( Glad your one brother in law and wife had a good reaction though. I have the same thing as you with meat. No meat at all... can't stand it. But yesterday for the first time in weeks, we went and had a hot dog. For some reason that stayed down. MMmmm. I feel bad for my husband - I still can't even cook meat without feeling a bit ill so he has been on his own on that front for awhile.

Lilac sounds like good news! Keep us posted and congrats!!

As for me, I am finally feeling better. Halfway through week 12, for some reason the Zofran taken twice a day is actually working now. I take it before I get out of bed along with a few crackers and wait for it to kick in before breakfast. We get up really early so when dinner rolls around I was feeling nauseous again and my husband pointed out that it probably doesn't last 12 hours! So now I take it an hour or two before dinner and have been able to eat a little again.

Oh and I'm drinking Gatorade by the bottle haha. We went to Costco to look for powdered gatorade but it isn't in stock until this weekend since it's a summer item apparently. It is easy to drink and hopefully giving me some electrolytes.

Right now I can't eat a lot and some things make me feel ill, but on a daily basis I am not throwing up anymore and not feeling sick 24/7. What a relief! Haven't gained any weight yet, but at least I'm not losing it anymore.

  2. My interview is in a week on Monday at the Vancovuer consulate.

-Do they request a specific order for the documents (passport, birth cert., affidavit of support, etc) or does it not matter to them?

-is my fiance allowed to come to the interview?

Any other things we should know before the medical and interview?!

    Thanks,

    SO excited!

If it's for a K1 interview, we came with all the required paperwork and a lot extra. When the first lady met us at the window she gave us a paper and said 'put your documents in this order' and left us for awhile while we reorganized everything. If it's not in the right order you will get a chance to do that at the consulate so no worries. Sounds like they have everyone do something like that.

My fiance came to the interview with me.

Good luck! Feel free to ask any other questions that are bugging you. :)

  3. Wooooo so I have been checking uscis.gov over and over and this morning our EAD/AP was still in initial review. I logged in this afternoon and it said that EAD was in card document /production!!! As of March 29... so apparently since Friday. I guess it just didn't update till this afternoon! Our AP still says initial review though but judging by what some of you have said it should come with it. Sounds like they can be slow on updating. Oh boy!!!!!! Now to see how long it takes to arrive in the mail. But hope! :D

  4. Be aware that if you see Dr. Cheema on a Friday you will not get the results till after 4pm on a Monday. It's usually after 4pm the next business day if I recall, so you wouldn't want to book your interview the next day.

  5. I am having a pretty rough time. I've now lost over 10 pounds since the beginning and been unable to do much of anything. My husband has been great and making me broth, jello etc in bed. They put me on medication to help with the nausea but that has caused its own set of issues and I feel useless. I just mostly sit or lie around and don't do anything, because the minute I try to do housework I start feeling nauseous. It's hard because my mom isn't nearby and I don't really have any 'puke friends' - you know, the kind of people who would come over even if you were sick who live nearby. So very very thankful for my husband who has been amazing. And I really hope this gets better soon. 11 and a half weeks... holding out hope for 2nd trimester. Need to gain back some weight somehow! Fighting against dehydration at the moment. It's times like this when I really miss having family nearby.

  6. Congrats to all the approvals so far! Man, mine is so far away it doesn't even show on Yes We Can 2's timeline! Well, on a bright side, lots of time to prepare. Which is good since I have been feeling miserable lately (morning sickness, lost 10 pounds already) and haven't put any paperwork together yet. I was thinking of changing my name from the maiden to married name on things like our bank account and lease but wasn't sure if USCIS cared which version of my name was on there. Oh well, lots of time to prepare still. Hoping this weekend to hear some kind of update about EAD/AP since that's when the VJ timeline indicates possible response *cross fingers*

Love seeing all the green approvals in a row! Thumbs up!

  7. I was trying to think what the negatives of dual citizenship might be for Canadians. As Americans I can see it being a pain on 2 fronts - the whole registering for the draft thing (unlikely to happen but still required) and the whole having to file taxes EVERY SINGLE YEAR no matter where you live. On the Canadian front, are there actually any negatives for having Canadian citizenship? I am obviously biased as Canadian but didn't realize there could be negatives...

  8. I was just researching this yesterday as I am now 2 months pregnant as well. From what i understand from the citizenship site you need to have your babys long for birth certificate, and fill out an application for citizenship as well. you can get that here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0003ETOC.asp

halfway down the page is this paragraph:

Is your child already a citizen?

In general, a child born to a Canadian parent outside Canada before April 17, 2009, is a Canadian citizen. However, a child born to a Canadian parent outside Canada on or after April 17, 2009, is a Canadian citizen at birth only if that child is born in the first generation outside Canada, that is, at the time of their birth, their Canadian parent:

    • was born in Canada, or
    • became a Canadian citizen by immigrating to Canada (becoming a permanent resident) and being granted citizenship (also know as naturalization).

If your child is a Canadian citizen, use the Application for a Citizenship Certificate under section 3 (CIT 0001).

The issue is finding someone in the usa that can do proper photos to the specifications they want. also, fill out the form as if you are the child its the only way it makes sense for some of the questions. :)

hope that helps! you can also contact your nearest consulate as well if you have any issues or questions, but it should all be doable by mail.

I was reading that link you sent, and it says if you are in Canada to mail it to Nova Scotia and if you are outside Canada to contact your nearest consulate. Does that mean if we are living in the USA we cannot mail it to Nova Scotia but instead have to go through the local consulate?

  9. Hey guys!!!

So last saturday Mar 23th my GC didnt arrived and it was supposed to arrive, the track# said so,around 7pm same saturday, I got the email/txt from USCIS the the USPS report that the address unknown. I was so upset!

So yesterday Mar 25th I started calling the USCIS and the Post Office 1-800, to report it, the USCIS just told me that they will send a service request and they will contact me within 30 days. I was like , so then I called the USPS to get the phone # for my local post office so I called and I told the guy the whole story and the guy ask for the track# n he said WE HAVE IT HERE!!!! I was so happy, so he asked me Do u want me to send it back in mail? so I told him no thank you , I will be there in a few minutes to get it myself. Thank God I have my GC on hand. then I called back USCIS to let them know, I got it and also to cancel the service request.

Wow that must have been super relieving to have the guy find that for you at the post office! The post office "lost" our wedding disc of photographs too - but when I showed up and asked about why it hadn't been delivered, they magically found it in a back room! So glad you got your greencard - now you can relax and celebrate!

  10. Glad to hear it's possible sk8rpatty. The CBP office in Seattle tells me I can't import my car on a K1 without a greencard which is totally incorrect so I have to wait till I have permission to go to Canada and re-enter the states so I can import it at the border since the local guys won't help. He wouldn't believe me if I told him you managed to import it either. *roll eyes* I have half a mind to get every K1 who has done it to phone him and prove he is wrong. Alas he is the kind of person that would still refuse to believe. So, I am just going to wait a bit longer to import.

  11. Adjusting from K-1 here and our interview is next week. It sounds like location may have more to do with it. Who knows. We have still not heard a word on his EAD/AP. The USCIS web site still says the case numbers cannot be found. I'm glad we got all the updates for the AOS and the interview or we would be quite worried right now.

Jordan has been driving with his Canadian license and was able to register the car he drove here from Canada. California wouldn't let him do anything for the license until he could show residency (EAD or GC) He's been studying for the test though and will take it as soon as he receives his docs. We're lucky that State Farm will insure you with a Canadian license.

sk8rpatty just curious - where did he register the car - aka did he import it at POE or somewhere down in Cali?

  12. Wow, VeeNDee. I'm sorry about all your troubles. I don't suppose you could contact CBP at their website to escalate it? Or have they managed to break you? lol

You'd be correct...I've been broken. Just today I read yet another POE review about a K1 importing their car. I swear I'm not crazy. Too bad that guy won't believe. It's not worth my time and stress level. Once I've imported the car after EAD or GC I will try to phone back I think to let them know it's possible. Any tips on how to tell that guy he was wrong? I want to help future K1ers in my situation.

  13. So I was waiting until today since I wanted to tell my parents, but time to join this thread ladies... I am 10 and a half weeks pregnant with our first! :) Had our first ultrasound last week and it was just amazing to see the little heart beating. Morning sickness has been a huge issue for me (I've spent days where I couldn't eat anything) and I've lost 5 pounds since the beginning but it's finally starting to get a little better. I can keep down fruits, plain bread, and plain broth pretty reliably now. Still can't go much fancier than that though. So sick of crackers and ginger ale!

  14. Okay, it looks like you can go to the Peace Arch crossing without entering Canada. Google Maps: US Border Patrol, 2410 Natures Path Way, Blaine, WA 98230.

Thanks for the info Krikit. I looked them up on Google maps and phoned the number and the officer told me that location didn't import cars but I could try at the Blaine or Peace Arch border. He gave me their phone numbers to call. I called them and they told me I need to either enter from the Canadian side or cross over and return to talk to the officer in the booth about car importation.

Sigh. Well, looks like the decision has been made for me. No importing my car until AP or GC, whichever comes first :(

Thanks for all your help... I'll keep you posted when the time comes.
