  1. Hello Everyone,

As some of you may know, my 864 got kicked back to me with a checklist for some errors.

When I looked, they were indeed errors-stupid ones-and my fault as I was so twisted and bent over this form...

    Anyway, I had some corrections to do, which I did-but I have a Q.

Is it OK to just place "strike" marks on the incorrect ones, or should I strike them and initial them??

As you see, I am being overly paranoid again-but any info to alleviate my neurosis would be helpful.

I just want to get this thing back on track again.

    Thanks !

    -Rose

    Hey Rose-

As MandR said I would just re-do the forms. Just download it and fill it out again. I know that's not what u want to hear but I think that it would be the best decision instead of striking and putting your signature.

    Good luck.

    Vee

  2. NVC rec'd DS-230 for my parents on April 4

    Case completed on April 14

Case sent to Embassy on April 19

Embassy rec'd it on April 22 (Saturday) as per DHL tracking

On April 27 Embassy assigned interview date of June 1, 2006

Thank you so much for responding :D I now have an idea. Thank you!

  3. oops sorry about my lingo :P The odd member as in a couple of members that got the last of their submissions reviewed and case complete within 3 or so days. In other words you could get case complete at any time between now and a couple of weeks

Ohhh Ok-I guess u mean every other person is lucky to get there case completed in 3 days the others could take up to a couple of weeks. Well lets see what happens.

    Thanks for the enlightenment.

  4. NVC recieved my DS-230 on 24 March and the NVC completed my case on 4 April. They have been relatively fast of late in reviewing so hopefully you should get case complete within a week or so. I have noted the odd member getting case complete in 3 days of having received the last of the submissions.

Thank u for responding aussiewench, That sounds lovely " a week or so".

What odd numbers are u referring to? The case #? The date NVC receives the documents? Please clarify.

    Thanks for your response though.:-)

  5. Hey guys-I'm just curious-as usual.

I sent the DS-230 back with the checklist letter NVC requested and as "Yam Sam" recommended. It was delivered on Tuesday May 2nd and the computer acknowledged receipt of the "check list-letter response" on that date. I called this morning and they said that the DS-230 was received yesterday May 4th and is in their system and it will take about 2-4 weeks to review. Is this true?

How long have YOU waited for them to complete review of the DS-230? I can't imagine it taking more thn 1/2 hour because its only 2 pages!!! Just trying to get some insight from those of u who've already been through the process.

    I'm not impatient-just curious :D

  6. Dumb one but in question 14 are they lloking for the maiden name for my female spouse (the US citizen) rather than the her name on her passport (from a previous marriage)?

    Thanks,

    Ed

    Hey Ed,

That is not a dumb question---no question is a "dumb" one Ok?

I looked at the DS-230; it says "Maiden or Family" name. So u can either put her maiden name(the one she was given at birth) OR the name she took from YOU that's on the marriage certificate.

    Hope this helps :D

  7. Hi Vee,

As a backup to what Sam mentioned, give them a phone and communicate with them as well.

Other than this, I hope all is going very well for you !

    -Rose

PS-How did you get notification that your 864 went through OK?

    Hey Rose!!!

    Thank you. Will-do.

Everything is going well-just trying to get these final exams done with  Thanks for asking though :D

I hope all is going well for you and yours.

Hope to chat with you soon!

    Vee

  8. You got the checklist for missing doc ( DS230) as NVC was reviewing your recently submitted 864.

Usually, NVC prefers not to get any documents until they ask you for it. But, in your case, they are expecting your DS230, so, You can certainly send it back to them using the the barcoded coversheet and checklist you currently have received.

    Good Luck,

    YamSam

oh ok YamSam!!!!! :D I'll send that off in the morning so that they can get it by Monday. I'll also include a copy of the money order so that they know that I already sent that in also. Thank you!!!

  9. Hey guys,

I received a "check list" in the mail today from NVC. It stated that I needed to send in the DS-230 and the IV Fee bill. The problem is: I mailed the IV fee bill on Monday 04/24 overnight because even though it was generated on 04/03 I didn't receive it until 04/22.

I was planning to use Jame's short-cut for the DS-230 because my husband already sent it to me. :D

My questions are: Should I go ahead and mail the DS-230 to them even though it hasn't been "generated" as yet-or being that they ask for it should I just send it?

I know that because the IV fee bill toolk so long to get to me their system is confused, so I know the reason why I received the checklist in the first place is due to them being so slow. So what would you do? (1) Wait until they cash the $380 and generate the DS-230 then use Jame's short-cut and send it OR (2) send it to the address on the checklist-because they asked for it?

    Thank you

  10. I have the same concern.

I realize that it is different in every case but still....

In our case they received OAS BIll 2 weeks ago and they still have not cashed it :(( Operator proved that they got it and it would take some time to cash it....

They should have receive IV Bill yesterday. (we sent it by overnight mail)

I even can't assume when they would cash them and generate DS 230 and AOS package ....

why does it take so long :(

    Alenushka,

I have no idea why they take so long. Money orders are like cash and they can be "cashed" on the same exact date of receipt!!

They received my $380 on Tuesday and the operator said it could take 10-15 BUSINESS days for them to process it. But when I paid the $70 of the AOS it took them only 2 days!!!!! I guess it depends on our luck.

I then received a "checklist" in the mail today that they are missing the DS-230 and the IV Fee Bill; duuuhhh!! I'm soooo tempted to send in the DS-230 so they get it by Monday---but I don't want to cause any delays because it hasn't been "generated" as yet.

Whatever--I'lll just hope that they'll cash yours real sooon so the rest of the process can go on.

Keep me posted :D and let us try not to worry about it. I'm going to resume my work-out routine to relieve this stress.

  11. Oh OK. Thank you for responding. :D The reason why I asked is because when I sent the Affidavit fee it took them only(2) days to cash it; so I was wondering if I would be that lucky again or if they treat the IV Fee differently ( I don't see why because it's more $$$ ) but what do I know. :( Thanks for your reponse though "Cygnet"

They probably cash it right away but when I called NVC to check on whether they received the cheque or not, they told me it sometimes takes 10 days for it to be put in the system.

I guess, they didn't want me calling them everyday to check on the status of my case.

    BTW, you're welcome.

    ~ Kay

Oh ok then---i'll try to be cool & patient. B)

    Thanks again!!!!

  12. I don't know exactly when they cashed our cheque but let me see...

Sent off IV fee on March 22 by snail mail (regular Canada Post).

They must have gotten the money order on March 30.

I got my DS230 on April 13 but the envelope was postmarked April 10.

So they may have "cashed" the $ 380 sometime between March 31 and April 7.

So I guess the short answer would be... within a week of them receiving the money order. For us, at least.

    I hope that helps.

  13. greetings,

On a positive note, hope this helps with "how long can they take" anxiety ....

our IV bill was generated on 3-17 and recieved 3-27-2006....ds 230 generated on 4-10-06 and recieved on 4-17-2006( wow. we were impressed!)......I think they are conservative in estimates so don't completely despair....could be much much quicker!!

    suerte

    katheleen

Thanks Kathelen :D My bill was generated on April 3rd its now April 21st and I haven't received it yet so either they didn't put it in the mail yet or it got lost in the mail. Neverteless, they are resending it today April 21st so I'm praying I'll get it soon.

    Thanks for responding.

  14. Thank you it is good to know.

Our IV Bill was generated on April 17.

So, we might be waiting until they gather enough packages to send out.

    It's crazy

Maybe not: I was looking at the calendar and just for argument sake: Being that they generate documents only on Mondays and mine was generated on April 3rd. They could be accumulating those generated on April 3rd, 10th & 17th, so provided that they have accumalted "enough" by the 17th it is quite possible that they will send out everything from the above dates this week. So u might be likely to get it this weekend or early next week. So don't give up hope Alenushka--you never know--you might not be waiting as longs u think---lets see--yours probably got in that "batch" at the right time----

  15. Sorry - posted in the wrong forum first.

Well....its in the mail and was delivered this morning. How long does it generally take NVC to process the AOS and tell you if it is acceptable? This is the scary one for us. We have lots of assets and no income.

Another question....how did you find out if the I-864 was approved? Do they send a snail mail? I have had no luck gettting an operator at NVC lately. We signed up for e-mail at the CSC process but never did receive one.

The phone message says our DS-230 is generated and will be mailed in the next few weeks (can you imagine). How do you find out about approval there also?

    Thanks,

    Ed

    Hi Ed,

Well approx. 8 days. They received mine on April 11th and completed review on April 19th. You should be happy that you already received the IV bill because they generated mine on April 3rd and I still haven't received it as yet. So u should go ahead and do Jame's short cut for the DS-230 so you can save some time. Good luck!!!

  16. in the mean time you could have your SO do the DS 230

they could mail it to you. - since the immigrant must sign it.

there is an NVC flow chart. take a look at it if you have not.

    Thank you shonjaved,

Actuallly my husband already sent the DS230 and a copy of his passport to me. :D Thank you.

I'm fully acquainted with the Flowchart....thank you :D

I just wish the Bill could come soon...because there is no "shortcut" for that part. :(

Thanks for your input though. I appreciate it.

  17. I hope you'll get it soon. I think I got mine a couple of weeks after they generated it.

But I think they only generated mine after they got the DS3032.

    Good luck!

They had the DS3032 since March 24th; so that's not an issue.

    Sorry about that...

I thought I read on your timeline that you returned the DS3032 on April 10/06.

It's Ok---that Timeline is incorrect. I put in 3/24 and it came up with April 10th; I tried correcting it numerous times, but there seems to be a glitch or something. I wish I could delete the entire timeline as its a not truly reflective; but it doesn't let me.

I figured out the glitch: The "timeline" inverts the dates; so when I edit it I actually have to put the date relating to the Affidavit and put the Affidavit date relating to the DS-3032(it's really hard to explain) I basically had to "trick" the timeline so that it shows the correct information. So now-everything is accurate. Thanks for remindind me :D:thumbs:
