  1. The same thing happened to me; so I'm advising you to send in the DS-230 that you've downloaded from the department of state website or Jame's Shortcut along with the cover sheet they sent u. Within a week or two your case should be completed.

You can only do this if you've paid the IV bill. If you've paid that bill already, go ahead and send it the DS-230; do not wait for them to generate it----time is ticking....

    Good luck!!!

  2. Guys,

I have read on the forum that it takes around 10 days for NVC to complete the case after they receive all documents. We have sent all documents to the NVC.

We got a following reply on our email inquiry from the NVC

Documentation for this case was received on May __, 2006. The processing time for the submitted documentation to be reviewed is 6 to 8 weeks. If any additional information is required, NVC will request the information after this review is completed.

    Regards,

    National Visa Center

Does anyone know whether 6-8 weeks is a correct timeframe for reviewing documentation? What do they really review?

    :(

Aussiewench is correct. I got the same message and it took 13 days for it to be completed; but I've heard of other people taking much less than that-so don't worry. It's almost over.

  3. Hi everyone! I am new here, after browsing the net for info regarding immigration issues i finally found this site that could relate to my issues. I am a LPR entered here in US last April 2002, I married my now husband last December 2004 and filed a petition for him as a spouse of LPR last January 2005, but i know that it will take more than five years for it to be approved, now I've been here for more than 4 years now and will be eligible to file for citizenship on April 2007. My question is what will happen to the previous I-130 i filed when i become a US citizen? I want to file for K-3 visa also but dont know if i need to file a new I-130 as a US citizen?

    HI Zakura,

I have been through the same EXACT situation as u are and interestingly we both got married in December 2004. :D Anyway, you can apply for your citizenship 90 days prior to the 5 year mark; afterwards, you go through the process of gaining your citizenship (fingerprinting, interview, ceremony). Depending on where you live will determine how long this will take. After you become a citizen-actually the day you become a citizen you should call 1800 375 5283 and let them know you need to "upgrade your I-130 petition from LPR to USC). They'll ask you several questions so have your naturalization certificate handy. On that same day I advise you to MAIL a copy of your naturalization certificate, receipt notice and a brief letter to (wherever your I-130 is pending) stating that you filed your I-130 when you were a LPR and now u are a USC and would like to "upgrade" your petition. If they act promptly you should hear from them within 30 days. (In my case they didn't, so it took about 90 days) :-( Anyway, after its "upgraded" and if your priority date has passed, they will work on your I-130 as a USC that shouldn't take long (IF YOUR PRIORITY DATE HAS PASSED). After your case is approved (ignore those negative people who are telling u that it won't be) then it will be forwarded to the National Visa Center(NVC). At that time-revisit this site and get familar and take advantage of Jame's shortcut. It will save you weeks of waiting. After your case is complete they will send it to your Embassy and you'll go from there. I hope I've addressed all your concerns; if u have any other concerns feel free to send me a privat e-mail.

  4. Hi Vee,

Listen to your mum-she's right  ( I always tell my wee one that!)

Bring a copy of all phases (USCIS to NVC completion) of the paperwork...if they lost something, you have a back up plan. Make 2 copies...send one to him, and keep another set for yourself-just in case they get lost in transit, or held in customs for some reason.

Look at things from a pessimistic view and account for anything that may go wrong. Then, do what you can to prevent it while being prepared that anything can happen...but, you'll be ready for it if you cover yourself.

    Here's the list:

    USCIS

    G-325a (yours & his)

    I-130

    NOA1

    NOA2

    NVC

    DS-2032

    I-864

    I-864 (co-sponsor)

    I-864A

    DS-203 Part I

And supporting evidence of wedding, relationship, etc.

    Good Luck Girl !

:help::crying::( Rose!!! Why are u giving me soo much work!!!! Uuuuh!! I have copies of everything else except my side of the affidavit...Ok Fine.....I'll send them to him......

    Thanks Rose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Hello guys/gals,

My mom just made me nervous. She told me that she thinks my husband should take a copy of the affidavit to the interview. I don't think its necessary because I already paid NVC $70 to review it and I expect it to be at the Embassy. However-"mothers know best"...but in this case what do u suggest?

The problem is I didn't make a copy of my set, so I'd have to do it over, :( but my cosponsor has a copy of her set.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  6. I'm just doing a random survey out of curiousity.

How long after your case was completed at the NVC was your interview in Jamaica?

Please do not count from when your case ARRIVED at the Embassy. Just count from the date your case was COMPLETED at the NVC to the date of your interview in Kingston.

Thank you and I looking forward to your responses. :D

    Hi,

Why dont you try the yaardies thread in Discussion by region?

Congratulations on completing your journey :dance::thumbs: -now on to the interview.

Thank you for your suggestion but I found out for myself. Our interview has been set for mid-June so we're happy. It's all good that no one responded...that's life I guess. :D

  7. Hello...

I am beside myself with happiness today !

I had a few minutes to spare today between patients, and decided just for the hell of it, to call the NVC, so I could hear once again, that our checklist is under review...

...something made me press 5, and speak to someone....

I spoke to a very sweet girl named Nina, who told me ....

    CASE COMPLETE !!!!!!

    hahahahhahah !!!!!!

    :dance::dance::dance:

It's been a long 2 years of legal red tape throughout my divorce, our paperwork, our NY wedding that never happened, our co-sponsor dropping out, our RFE, etc...etc...etc...

It's time to start cleaning out the closets and make some space for my man !!!

    :D

(I still cannot believe it-someone pinch me !)

    -Rose

ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:crying::crying::dance::crying::crying: That is wonderful news!!!! I jumped to my feet when I read your post. I'm sooo happy for you girl!!! Oh My Goodness!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!

I am sooo sooo happy for u right now....

  8. This is very valuable information. I actually got the same info. from another section in VJ but its nice to see it in this forum. Anyway-my case was completed on 5/17 THANK GOD!! and from checking DHL, it seems that packages were sent to Jamaica on 5/19 and 5/23 but when I call NVC they said they didn't send mine yet. That makes no sense to me-so I asked the operator whether they send out a certain number at a time or they send them as they become complete. She said "she's not allowed to give me all that details" WHATEVER....come on!! It makes sense to me that as the cases become complete they send them out to their respective embassies in the next delivery. So now-I'm confused....why hold on to a "completed" case-just send it out in the next delivery!!! Confused....

    Just venting.

OOOOPPS....Just called NVC-they said they sent it TODAY. I GUESS IT WAS GOOD TO VENT!!!

    I still don't understand the whole process-but whatever. :D

  10. Thanks Vee,

I am stuck in NVC limbo...they got my RFE response on May 9th, and here I wait ...LOL !

I am sure I will be following you shortly. In the meantime, I keep busy and take things one day at a time. I have had my bad days, but I have my son and my dogs to keep me busy and snap me out of it. : )

I am happy for you...so many ppl I know have been completed this week-it's nice to see good things come to good people.

    : )

    -Rose

Rose, I'm sooooo sure that your case will be complete THIS month. You sound strong, so stay that way and think HAPPY thoughts-remember-you'll have him here soon to go for walks in the parks, go for ice-cream, whatever---he'll be here SOON!!!

    You'll be in my prayers.

    Keep in touch!!!

    Congrats!!! :)

    Thanks Katie!!! :D

  11. Mianishqsrose aka Mary has visa in hand this week.:dance::dance: No worries.

I dont want to keep my hopes up to high for its really frustrating to just sit in here and wait in vain to see what will happen next (just in case I really did miss sending a document but i doubt it!!!) .....But Im so delighted to know that Im not the only one there that got the same reply once they checked the NVC regarding their I-864 and still everything turned out fine. I'm so very much relieved. Thank you guys!!!

Congratulations for getting your much awaited Visa Mary!!!

BiaNcaSheY, I know what u mean-but I'm sure everything is fine. I was worried also, but then I called them and they told me that everything was fine with the Affidavit its just that they needed the DS-230 to complete the case-a week or so later-I received the "letter" which was actually a "checklist"; I returned the DS-230 which my husband already had sent to me along with a copy of his birth certifcate-and now its under review. So don't you worry-u seem to have done everything right where the I-864 is concerned. :D

    Good luck,

    Legaleagle

  12. When I was doing our CR1 I got this same message off of the lines. I called and talked to a lady and she lol and said I was fine. It was our DS 230 was not showing as received. It goes to another agency and it was not missing. Good luck and hope this is your case as well.

    Mary

The same thing happened to me Mary-so I guess "mianishqsrose" has nothing to worry about :D
