Im so happy, interview was very simple and fast the guy didnt ask for ANY copy or documents and he said I was approved at the end and he didnt see any pictures either! didnt wanna see 2011 taxes, nothing!

    Im in heaven right now....

will post a more detailed review but now I wanna take a nap because I am emotionally tired...

:innocent: :innocent: :innocent: :innocent: :innocent: :innocent:

    Talk later <3

I'm so happy for you. Congrats!

  2. Not like it would have made a lesser difference if he'd done it before or after your birthday... either ways, he's scumbag for thinking marriage/relationships is just about him alone. Sorry this happened to you... I would think it's for the best it happened now. Someone deserving of your love and kindness is out there waiting. Be happy and smile cause it's your birthday!

  3. Hi VJ Friends,

First and foremost, thank you all (everyone of you!) for all of your support, input and experiences everyday.

We arrived at the Hartford CT, USCIS office at 1:40 pm (2 pm interview). We went through security, and were pointed in the direction of the adjustment of status interview area. There were at least 15 people in the office. We were called right on time by a lady calling my name.

We followed the lady into a small office room that was personable with three seats. Before we sat down she asked that we raise our right hands and swear that all the statements we will make are true.

We went ahead and sat down and she asked for our IDs. We handed over both of our CT driver's licenses. Then she asked for our passports. She removed my I-94 card that was fastened in my passport. She then asked how long we have been together and we stated, 5 years. She then says, I thought I noticed that you two met in the Bahamas? We then stated that what she asked was true. She went into asking us if we were long distance and that she guessed it wasn't always true that spring break flings don't always last...we all laughed.

She asked the last time I visited Canada and I stated it was over Christmas. She made a note of it and then asked if we had ever broken up in between our 5 year relationship. We stated no. Then she went over all the questions that I had already answered on the forms originally submittted...terriorism....if I am associated with any organizations...etc. Then she asked if I had ever been a prositiute...I said, absolutely not and she looked at my husband and said, good to know, right? We all then laughed.

She then said, that she thinks she has everything she needs and then asked if there was anything additional that I wanted to give her, and I said, my 401k that lists my husband as my beneficiary, our joint saving and checking accounts....and any pictures if she prefered, and she said no to the pictures (I had over 50!)

She then expressed her gratitude that we were so organized and prepared...that people are NOT normally prepared. She also stated that she appreciated that we did things the right way and mentioned it was good that I was still "in status" (I know some of you aren't-I just figured I would mention what was said)

She went over ROC procedures and that she had to do some computer checks and that we would hear within a week. I asked if I would hear via text and email once she updates the computer...she said she would anticipate I would hear something tonight or tomorrow morning. I was hoping for an approval on the spot.

She again thanked us for being so organized and to do what we did for our adjustment of status for our ROC in two years. My husband gave me all the credit once she said that...we thanked her for her time and out we went.

I was disappointed for the lack of approval on the spot...but I was hopeful I would hear tonight. My husband and I went for dinner and I kept a positive attitude. We had quite a few drinks to celebrate everything that has been going on...our green card interview being complete, our new house pending...etc.

Sure enough, at 5:15 (the same time I received my interview notice on 5/18) I received an update via text and email.

    APPROVED.

Champagne was on the menu tonight...and I could not have don't it without you all. Thank you thank you thank you for all of your guidance. I will be here for the rest of the April filers until we all are "officially permanently" here with our spouses.

My tips- be overly prepared. Funny enough, she didn't ask for my long form birth certificate that was requested. Be professional. Speak when spoken to. Dress well. Be relaxed.

I will see the March/April filers removing conditions (if applicable, in March 2014!)

Thank you all again-Blessings to all!!

Andrea (chimcham) --I felt it was appropriate to give you my name, finally.

    Congrats!

  4. Hello everyone!!! :)

    I'm back!

Well... I can say this was a very interesting experience...

I got at the office about 30 minutes before my interview. Went trough security... and NO MOBILE PHONES WITH CAMERAS are allowed, so please check that before you go into the building.

We went to the second floor, all quiet... and put my appointment letter at the checking window which was closed and the curtains were down (Seemed like anyone was there!). We sat down... and really my hubby and me were smiling and stuff (my hands were very cold tough!). Then a woman came out... and said my name loud... We stood up and I LOOKED at her and said Hello and she said hello and smiled and asked us how we were? we said fine! and u! :)

She walked us to her office( there were like 8 other offices with another officers inside). She told us to remain standing and we did the oat LOOKING INTO HER EYES! We sat down... she asked for our ids and my passport, so i gave my state id and passport and she took my I94. Then she said: I will ask you some questions... so she asked questions from the FORMS we already submited, she asked my husband about what are my parents names, where do they live, where am i from, what is my complete name, and i had to give the same answers too... asked me if i ever met his parents, very simple and easy question.

She asked about how was my wedding, who went to my wedding, how many people, where was it... she was pretty happy that my family came to the wedding :)

Then she asked me if i had PICTURES AND DOCUMENTS TO SHOW: I gave her 2 albums: SHE SAW EACH PICTURE and because she seemed pretty nice i described her some of them :) Then i gave her some utility bills, banks account with our names. I was gonna handle more stuff to her but she said this is enough heheh :) ...

She asked me: what are ur plans now? i said of course i want all my papers to be all set and done so i can make my life with my hubby , find a job, make a business cause thats what i had in my home country, and she asked my hubby: u gonna help her right? and he said of course! and we laughed.

Then she said this is all... and ull have an answer between 2-3 weeks... and i asked her: can i check online too??? and she said of course during the next 48 hours....

So .. really.... it was a very easy experience.... FOR SURE she already study very well our case and saw that our marriage was genuine, she had a big thick file of our case. Also she gave me back my birth certificate that was an original with the translation (i found that quite nice of her), she said i made a copy so i can give it back to you....

Oh well!!! 30 min ago... i just check online and MY I 485 WENT TO CARD PRODUCTION!!! SO THAT MEANS IM APPROVED RIGHT????? BUT THE I 130 IS STILL IN INITIAL REVIEW... IS THAT NORMAL???

Just an advice: bring pictures (this office loved to see each one of my pics and i had like 300 pictures which she saw all.) and told us : you both have done a lot together! :)

    So that is!

Any questions and comments are welcome!!!

    ALE

There were just 2 couples already waiting.

And... with this i can tell you that not all interviews during afternoon hours mean that will be hard... mine was pretty easy. :)

    Congrats to you!

  5. Hello everyone,

I just checked my I-485 status on their website, and I finally got our interview informationkicking.gifkicking.gif

Chris, you are totally right! I did not have to wait until the beginning of July to get my interview info!

My husband is working right now, so I do not have anyone to share this big step with lol

Oh, I just come up with a question. Our interview is at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER, which means do we have to go to the NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER in MO?

    Testing and Interview

On June 20, 2012, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for July 26, 2012, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

    Congrats! Good luck.

  6. Checks being cashed means nothing. Like Inky said, it only means that they have debited your account and it's not refundable brother :). Patience is the key, for without a whole lot of patience, you might as well go insane.

Wait for your NOA1 which should be in your mail in no time. Even after you get that, it still doesn't give you any immigration benefit until you are approved for your EAD and you receive it which is still a couple months away before. Stay calm brother!

  7. Hi all, congrats to everyone in this group that have had their interviews and approvals, also to those still waiting for an official approval and to those without interview dates yet... I pray we all get there!

Here is a list of what I've so far prepared for my interview.

    - Joint checking & Savings account. *(Sent this with the AOS application already).

    - Lease with both of names as renters signed by landlord. *(Sent this with the AOS application already).

    - Several rent receipts with both of names on it from landlord.

    - Charter bill with both of our names. *(Sent this with the AOS application already).

  8. Hello VJ Friends!!!! Thank you for all your wishes and support!!! Im back and APPROVED! Interview was as easy, plain and smooth like satin

    Here's my DETAILED experience:

My interview was at Newark at 930AM. Place was jam packed some people are already standing. I have a lawyer but they sent someone else who I have no idea who and what looks like. She just called our name and introduced herself. Oh well, was aggravated but let it go just the same. She said it's not usually that busy and we might have to wait an hour or 2 delay( sigh). I know hubby was nervous, poor lad went to the restroom 2x although he kept on denying it. Anyway, we were ready to wait. Hubby and I were just observing those people around us. I thought we were underdressed when we came in and saw some folks in suit. But inside the waiting room, there were some people who wore suit, some just polo shirt and some just t-shirt. Some I thought didn't even bother to look in the mirror before going :bonk: Hubby wore long sleeves polo and I wore slacks and cardigan. One couple were asked to be interviewd separately. Their IO and the male came back and said now it's your wife's turn. Another couple went in and out in about 5 mins with their lawyer. We were looking at the IOs and trying to figure out who's strict or not. At around 950ish (surprised!) our name was called over the PA system and asked to proceed to one of the doors. Our officer met us at the door. He is serious, said good morning and lead us to his room. I didn't sit down but hubby went to sit right away. Had to poke him to stand up  The IO swore us in. The he asked for the original docs. I brought an expanding folder with divider (Staples looked like an attache case for only $12bucks). Clipped all orginals and proofs in separate. He run through our passport then took my I-94 and staple it to his file(our file).

Then he asked my hubby: How long has ur wife been in the US?

Then me: What's your full name and address?

Then hubby: What's your wife's bday?

    Were you married before?

    Was your wife married before?

When was she divorced? Hubby answered the date that I filed which is not on my divorce paper :bonk: I was thinking a big OH NO and the IO was looking at the paper....then my hubby said but..it's not finalized until CORRECT DATE! :D

He then asked for additional supporting docs (proofs). When he saw a copy of our bank cards he asked if we have it. MY and hubby took out our wallets. Can't find mine so I had to take out most of my wallet's content which is A LOT! Then I saw the IO looking at the pic in my wallet (our wedding pic) Then he said looks good.

He asked for photos. We gave him 4 albums. He run though the first, then kinda flip through the second and ignore the rest. He didn't look at our wedding album, he just looked at the cover. HE asked me the standard questions. I said no sir to all. He again said, everything looks good and I am going to spproved you but our system is down so I cannot do anything :o My husband asked again. Are we approved? The IO repeated was he said then said you should receive your GC in the mail within 2-3 weeks. Do you know aboout the 90 day rule? Your lawyer should be able to explain to you what you should do to remove the condition. Shook our hand then took us to the exit door.

ALL this happened in LESS THAN 5 MINUTES.

The IO gave us a piece of paper that said something like: I-485 final review no other info or documents needed (something like that, I do not have it with me right now)

I am so happy , my staus online did not change yet. I think IO said something like 48hrs to updated the system. My mind was already floating when I heard the word approved

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support. I truly appreciate and enjoyed your company. Hope my experience help you. Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Come prepared, don't be nervous, look at the IO in the eye, and MOST importantly PRAY for GOD's blessings and guidance. I had a lot of worries before the interview and though I've had a lot of family support and VJ family support, it's only when I pray sincerely that I know for sure everything will be good.

    GOD BLESS US ALL :innocent:

    Big congrats to you guys!

On June 12, 2012, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for July 12, 2012, at NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER. Please follow the instructions on the notice. 10. Folks, am back from the AOS interview at Newark, NJ. Will post a detailed interview experience very soon but here it is in a nutshell.

Interview started about 40 min after appointment time and was fairly simple, the usual questions about stuff we submitted, nothing too very complicated. The IO was business like, no light banter, no chatty stuff, just matter-of-fact. Took about 20 mins. He took our passports, SSN cards, my EAD and our IDs. At the end of it, he asked us to wait for some time and when he came back, he was about to issue me an RFE!! And that too, for a document that I already had with me at that very moment. He never asked for it at the interview, so I never gave it to him.

However, once I handed over the document, he said everything was okay and retained my EAD and said my GC would be in the mail in the 2-3 weeks. He did not issue me the RFE. I asked him if I was approved and he said yes, he was recommending me. I wanted to know if I needed a stamp on my passport and he said no. I was not given an approval letter or any of that stuff.

My online status has not changed till now. So, now am back to playing the waiting game. Am just so very glad that I had overprepared and had all my documents in order, left nothing to chance, else I would have been staring at an RFE by now.

Does it look like I have an approval? All I have is the IO's word for it. Any thoughts?

Congrats! From all indication you are definitely approved.

  11. As someone whose now wife used to live in Wisconsin and we got married in Wisconsin... I can say for a fact that you can't marry before the 6 months waiting period. Now a state like Minnesota which is bordering Wisconsin to the North doesn't require that. In MN which is where we live now, you can get married even in as little as two weeks after you file for divorce. I've seen it happen. So like someone said earlier, you might wanna do a google search on that just to get a much more clearer perspective or look up the county's courthouse #, call them to find out but the truth is you have to wait 6 months. No need to rush it else you'll be in a bind when questions arise about it as regards USCIS.

    Good luck!

  12. I would suggest you go ahead and file the I-751 form when it's time because you were not married 2 years or more as at the time your card permanent residency was approved, so it's plain as day. You were issued the standard conditional green card for couples that were married less than 2 years prior to the issuance of the card. If you are still confused, make an info pass just so to ease your worries. Stay blessed brother!
