  1. $1K for this engagement ring is just to represent my love for her, this is not a wedding ring. I know she'll be really happy and will love the ring because it means so much to her that am thinking of her.

I hope my prediction about BAC is correct in 1.5 month from now because that is when I get my NOA2 and heading for Vietnam to see her. I know the European crisis and all these financial difficulties going on in the U.S. but you guys can sit here and watch how my prediction turns out in a month and a half and I would like it to see it happens the same time I receive my NOA2.

  2. Hopefully my investment into BAC stock while waiting for the NOA2 will be very meaningful to my fiancee and for me because everyday I'll think of her, everyday I'll look at the stock and searching for a nice engagement ring for her on my next trip to Vietnam. If BAC goes up and I make enough money from profit and use this profit to buy that ring for her then it will be something very interesting to remember later on and to tell her the story of this ring that I bought for her.

  3. Another Stock that I strongly strongly believe I can make some money from it. But not from buying it, but from shorting it. This stock is BioFuel Energy Corp sybom BIOF. This company will go bankrupt within months and be delisted from the NYSE. However, I am not shorting this stock currently at $0.24 cents a share, this thing will go to around $0.15 cents a share by the end of this month. So if I were to short this stock at $0.24 now and when it goes down to and get delisted from NYSE, I can buy back to cover and make a few hundred dollars. I am thinking about it but might not do it because I probably just gonna make a few hundred dollars.

  4. I strongly believe that BAC will go up above $8:50 by the end of July. I also believe that there will be time where it goes up and goes down between now and the end of July and I won't just hold on to it til I reach my goal of $8.50 a share. I will sell and buy back when I see how the market is performing and what info I can get out of BAC.

I bought 1000 shares at $7.47 today, so every penny it goes up I will make $10, or lose $10 if every penny goes down. But I won't actually lose it, if it goes down today or tomorrow, I will just hold on to it til it goes back up. I really believe that BAC is undervalue at the moment and it should go up.

  5. I just bought 1000 shares of Bank of America stock symbol BAC at $7.47 a share.

I expect this stock will go up to between $8.50 to $9.00 by the end of July. And I expect to make between $1000-$1500 by that time, the same time I receive NOA2 and I will buy an engagement ring for my fiancee.

  6. Thanks Scott, Anh Map, vyx, and feli

Before I send any document, I'll post up here to double check with you all to make sure everything is correct.

I'll share our Đám Hỏi Engagement Party pictures with you all in 2 months. My fiancee is really beautiful and very nice.

  7. From the reading on this website

Some people here gave me link to package 3.

Some people said after NOA2, they will send package 3.

I downloaded package 3 and read. They said "Do not send any documents to our office except for Forms DS-2001 and DS-

230 Part I." I can see the DS-230 can be downloaded at this link http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_1342.html

What about DS-2001? What is it and where can I find it?

On the K-1 Guide, which is here http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

says to send the following to my fiancee (note: this is to my fiancee, not to the HCM Consular)

    1. A copy of the I-129F package includes all the supporting documents that I sent to the USICS

    2. form I-134 Affidavit.

    a. 3 of my most recent pay stubs

    b. A signed letter from my employer listing my job title, start date, my salary, and my job status.

    c. My banking statements and other assets such as stocks.

    d. A copy of the NOA2 that I received.

    e. Copy of my 2011 income tax.

    f. Proof of my ongoing relationship with my fiancee. Include any photos, letter, emails since NOA1.

    g. An original letter affirming my desire to marry my fiancee and my continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form.

While waiting for an interview to be scheduled, applicants should prepare the following documents

    1. Fees

    2. Visa photos

    3. Passports

    4. Birth Certificates

    5. Justice Record check

    6. Evidence of support

    7. Evidence of relationship

So basically, the next step after NOA2 for us to send to the Ho Chi Minh Concular is the DS-2001 and DS-230 forms when we have confirmation that NVC to HCMC and then when they say they got the file.

  8. Please help answer my confusion.

So when USCIS send me the NOA2 notice. I will send the following back to USCIS correct?

    1. I will need to fill out and send form I-134 Affidavit. This includes;

What about Package 3? Who send me Package 3 and both of us will receive packing 3 to fill out correct? What about forms DS-2001 and DS-230, are these included in Package 3?

  9. Almost everything I know as of now about K1 Visa is from reading on VJ and asking VJ members.

Today is the 92nd day since I mailed my I-129F form. According to VJ, it will take an average of 147 days to get NOA2 approval for Ho Chi Minh City cases so I have 55 more days to go.

Just to make sure that I am taking the correct steps and on track from reading VJ and for better preparation. Here are the steps to take after NOA2 and I am intended to waste no time, not even a single day to send in the paperwork. Please let me know if the steps below are correct and recommended.

    After NOA2.

    1. I will need to fill out and send form I-134 Affidavit. This includes;

Questions and Concern: Is the package above called Package 3 that I expect to receive from USCIS when they send me NOA2?

    2. I must send or take a copy of the entire I-129F package that I sent the petition to USCIS to Vietnam for my fiancee. She will to look over and to take with her to the interview later.

General Question and concern: When do I need to have the timeline and 10 years of residency from both me and my fiancee be sent or taken to show them? I read from VJ somewhere that we must get notary for both of these timeline and residency. Is this correct?

What do my fiancee expect to get?

She will expect to receive package 4 correct?

  10. Thank you you all. I will try my best to come to the interview with her. If we walk out with a pink on that day, that would be the best thing that ever happens to me as of now in my life. I will definitely spend the next 1 week with her there to celebrate, ask her to show me more of her hometown, all the places such as her schools that she went to when she was little and listen to her stories because she is about to go away from her hometown, her country,...We then would travel to some nice places in Vietnam to relax, shopping for the things that she would like to bring to the U.S.. We'll take lots of pictures and videos.

At that time it would be around December, perfect time for the end of the year where I get more than a week off. This is the best time for me and for her to go search for an apartment, buy some stuff such as the bed, kitchen ware,... so when I go back to work in January, she can stay home decorating and does some cooking for her not to get bored... Each day after work, I would take her to the beach and the park where i live and we go for jogging, .. i can start to teach her how to drive in the parking lot....

Can't believe I'll be married in half a year with the one i love so much and so does she.

  11. my typo. What I meant is engagement ceremony with 20 people. Just family and some special friends.

The wedding will be held in the U.S. after she arrived.

I can't wait til the day when she receives the pink. I'll spend 2 weeks in December when she arrives and we'll go look for apartment together, teach her how to drive, explain to her how it is here in the U.S., help her look for a job ... all that is gonna be so beautiful.

  12. My budget for this coming trip after NOA2 is $5000.

    Airline ticket will be $1300

I'll buy her the engagement ring $1000

I'll give her family $1000 to prepare for a small wedding ceremony

I'll give my relative $1000 to prepare for a small wedding ceremony on my side, that includes invitation of around 20 people come to my family for food... and the cost of a rental car for around 7 people including me to drive 200km to her family for the engagement.

The remaining $700 will be used for me and her to spend on our two weeks there.

  13. Today is the 88th day since I sent my I-129F application.

This is my plan, please provide any advices that you think might help us prepare for a successful interview. I am hoping and having high expectation that I can bring my fiancee over by December of this year, get married and at that time, I have more than a week off from work to show her around and to be with her for celebration.

    so here is my plan.

When I receive my NOA2, which is around the end of July or early August. I will take a copy of all the documents I-129F that i sent 88 days ago to Vietnam and give it to my fiancee. I will aslo sit down with her to help her fill out what ever paper work or any steps that we need to do after NOA2. In addition to bringing the paper work to her, we will also have our engagement ceremony. The time for this trip is 2 weeks.

I will go back to the U.S. after the engagement ceremony and continue to discuss about the preparation for the interview with her. I am assuming by November, she'll get appointment for the interview then I'll make another trip to Vietnam to be with her before and during the interview if having me there helps.

If she gets the pink, we'll be so so happy. I will spend 1 week with her there in Vietnam to be with her family and my relatives. I'll buy some stuff that she wants to bring to the U.S., we'll travel to a few places to celebrate and for her to say good bye to her hometown. I will then book a ticket for her so that we'll fly together to the U.S. The time for this trip will be 2 weeks.

  14. Hi All,

Would you please share your knowledge or provide the answers to some of these questions regarding the interview.

    1. Should I make a trip to Vietnam and come to the interview with my fiancee?

    2. If I come to the interview, would they interview me also?

    3. Do you get higher chance of approval if you come to the interview with your fiancee?

    Thanks

  15. I live in California, you live in New York and you might live in Florida or Kentucky. Your skin might be White and my skin is yellow, we are different in one way but the same in another. Many of you completed the Visa Journey and brought your love ones from Vietnam to America recently or years ago and now are here on this website to share the knowledge, the information to the new comers to help them on their Visa Journey just like you. Some of you stayed here and made friends among others. I read through a few posts and saw that some of you even plan to meet in Vietnam when you take the trips around the same time of your fiancees interviews, that's very fun.

The reason for this post is to have a roll call for all the 2012 applications, we might become friends or might even meet up or our we might fly on the same plane with our finanees from Vietnam to America when the interviews got approved.

Please 2012 applicants, identify yourself here to know that we have others that are with us on the same visa journey.

  16. Today is the 81st day since I sent the I-129F. I am counting day by day.

I am going to spend the next 1 month studying the questions and share these questions and answers with my financee.

My plan is once I received NOA2, I will take a 2 weeks trip to Vietnam to see her and to have the engagement ceremony between our families.

This journey, after 81 days of the I-129F and after over 2 years of the relationship, I feel it means so much to me, the journey to a family that will last a lifetime.

  17. One more thing, Hy Vong, as of 2012, about 37 years the war has ended, where is Vietnam's economical status, and for God's sake, just compare within the Southeast Asia region. It'd be a waste of time to compare with the rest of the world.

What's the excuse from the current Vietcong regime? Shouldn't 37 years long enough for them to "fix" their economy? When 1 USD equals roughly 22,000 (twenty two thousand) VN dongs, that tells you something about their economy.........

EVERYONE IS RICH!!!!!!!! THEY ALL ARE BILLIONAIRES!!!!! Oh My GOD!!!!!!!

    Dai Gia,

I can share a few things of what I know about the Vietnamese economy that I think very successful since the war ended. But before I share that, I can give you another example of the currency where you think $1USD = 22000 VND is something really bad and that the Vietnamese economy is worth nothing from your perspective of the currency. The exchange rate of the currency of one country doesn't really mean much to the economy, I mean it means something but it doesn't mean $1USD = 22000 VND is something terribly bad about Vietnam. When you look at the currency of one particular economy, you need to look at the purchasing power of that currency in that country. $1 USD in the United States cannot buy a bowl of Vietnamese rice noodle, but in Vietnam, that $1 USD can buy a very decent bowl of Vietnamese rice noodle. This is called Purchasing Power Parity. Stock of Bank of American is around $7 a share, stock of Citibank is around $26 a share. Does that mean stock value of Citibank is better than that of stock of Bank of America ?

Wars are bad, wars that drag on are worse, wars with economic sanctions are worst. For the last 100 years of the recent history, unfortunately for Vietnam, it fell into wars with 3 of the biggest super power in the world, consecutively and continuously. The French in the early 20 century, the Japanese in 1945, the French again in 1954, the American ended in 1975, then the Chinese in 1979. After all the recent wars, Vietnam was economically blockaded and sanction by the American and allies. During and after the war, Vietnam imported food like rice to eat, no water or electricity for the people, inflation was more than 500%, poverty rate was 80% of that of the population. Exports and Imports value were less than $10 billions a year so on and so on.

Since 1995 when the country really opened up by the lifting of the trade embargo against Vietnam by the United States, Vietnamese economic took off as one of the fastest GDP growth rate in the World, only behind that of China. Poverty rate fell from 80% to less than 15% that of today, lower than that of India, much lower than that of the Philippines. Vietnam became the second largest of rice exporter country in the world, producing more than 40 million tons of rice a year, enough to feed the people and export 7 million tons. Vietnam now the top 3 countries in the world make shoes, clothes, sea food, cashew nuts, coffee, black peper, rubber,.. Vietnam now has the largest internet growth rate and internet users in Southeast Asia. Over $100 billions worth of USD from other countries invested in Vietnam such as Intel, Cannon, Samsung, .

I agree that Vietnam is still poor because for many reasons, not just because it is a communist nation. Don't always blame that communism is a failure system in economics. Look at China now, they are communists, but their economic model is a successful model for the last 30 years. The thing that I wish Vietnam will change and I believe that I will in the next 10 years is the political aspect, that is, open up more in political freedom, fight corruptions... but that will also need to take time. A country that wants to be rich, it must build stability to its political and looking back 100 years, Vietnam never was a peace and stable like it is in the last 20 years and look how in 20 years Vietnam has changed into.

    Dai Gia.

37 years that ended the war between the US and Vietnam in 1975. But in 1979 the Chinese invaded Vietnam and the war between Vietnam and the Chinese also caused tremendously to the Vietnamese economy. Also, from 1975 to 1995, the US blockaded the entire Vietnamese economy, economic sanction is the most deadly weapon to fight your enemy, the USSR and the eastern European countries collapsed in 1989 becausese of economiscs failure.

About the Vietnamese currency that you mentioned about $1 = 22000 VND . The value of a currency of one country in the exchange rate does not mean that economy is bad. For example, $1 USD = 80 Japanese Yen but $1USD= only 6 Chinese Yuan, now does that mean Japanese economy is more than 10 times failure behind that of the Chinese?

Now that you look at Irag, a country at war for about 10 years and look at how bad it's economy is. Any war that drags on for years would cause tremendously to that country to be able to recover especially recover without help.

  19. Most of this I agree with but the Constitution itself denoted that slaves were worth 2/3 of a man for voting purposes. Yes all men were created equal if they were white and Christian. It took a lot of violence to change this.

how could the Constitution be written and declared such that the color of the human being be divided into different classes like that in a free and democratic society and called it the right constitution? It was wrong that's why it got changed, it took many years and many lives such as the life of Dr. Martin Luther King to change.

You just simply cannot classify a black man as 2/3 of a human being and treat him as slave. You just cannot call a yellow skin man a 1/3 of human being and make he works like animals. The Constitution was wrong and it took America around 200 years to wake up and change.

Back to Vietnam, Communist is only been 37 years in Vietnam and they are wrong, they were wrong at some point but to me, they were right in fighting the countries that came to Vietnam to invade.

  20. Spending some $500 billions, over 10 years, more than 58,000 lives, over 500,000 wounded, effecting American Politics for almost 40 years since the VN War ended, that is, even since the Vietnam War ended, it is still hurting American Politics, .. especially on every general election and you said if America wanted to win they could have won? Yeah, only if they used the Nuclear weapons at war but no way that they could have used because Vietnam was different the Japanese, North Vietnamese never sent or intend to send military to other countries to invade like the Japanese that caused America to use nuclear boms.

About the Vietnamese politics. All I want to say is, if the South Vietnamese accepted the general election in 1956 after the Geneva Convention than the war could have been avoided and the Vietnamese people would be better in living standard now.

The South Vietnamese leaders were puppet to the West, they refused to take on the nation wide election and they claimed that they fight for freedom and democracy?

  21. There are around 100 countries in the world that are non-communists systems but they are still poor, corrupt. Philippines, Cambodia, India, Bangladesh,... are the free and democratic societies next to Vietnam but they are no better than Vietnam, and many more countries in South America, Africa, Middle East, and even in Europe. America is a great country, no doubt, but if you look back at the U.S. history. Since this country was declared independence and the U.S. Constitution was born in 1776, it says "all men are created equal" and the Bills of Rights came into exists as Laws. However, slavery, brutality, or no justice continued and applied to the society for the next almost 200 years til Dr. Martin Luther King was killed in 1963 as a civil rights leader.

During World War II, hundred of thousands of the Japanese American were imprisoned just because they were Japanese. Many of those Japanese American were born in America, never considered Japan as their country, but still they were imprisoned because America was at war with Japan.

The Vietnam War was a lesson learned not just for the Vietnamese, American,... but for the whole world. Vietnam should have never be divided into 2 countries, for thousands of years, Vietnam was created as 1 Vietnam, just 1 Vietnam, not to be divided into two separated countries by the Western Countries that wanted to conquered Vietnam and its resources.

Many of the South Vietnamese soldiers now living in America keep on criticizing how cruelty the Vietnamese Communists were during the world, but what about 2 millions North Vietnamese were killed by both American, and South Vietnamese? B52's bombing, Napalm, Agent Oranges, .....

United Nations never allowed any country in the world to use chemical weapons at war ever since World War I, but look how many millions of gallons of chemical agents were sprayed over Vietnam during the war.

  22. Send me a PM with your email and I will send you a list of the 200 or so questions that she needs to know.. actually if you are going to be there you both need to know them...

Hi ScottThuy, please check your pm. I am sure the questions that you'll provide will greatly help me and my fiancee in preparing for the interview.

    Thanks
