  1. Received text message this early morning. Checked online for status and they said they have mailed the Green Card on May 29th.

That's pretty quick after the Interview on May 22nd.

So when my wife receives her card in the next few days, that's like a completion of the visa journey.

So far, after 6 months entering the U.S. and married living together. We love each other more and more everyday and this doesn't seem to stop. Thanks to visajourney.com.

I still can't believe that by reading and getting the answers from this website from knowing nothing about getting visa for my love in Vietnam to come live with me to knowing how to fill out all the forms and documents and preparing it so well that I didn't get any RFE's from the day I filed I-129F form. This whole do it yourself process of bringing my love to America, didn't cost me a penny in terms of paying agency or attorney.

Thanks visajourney.com and thanks everyone on this website.

  2. Do u get a tracking number on your ead card afters is mailed? Or you just have to wait till arrive?

Yes, I did get a tracking number for the EAD card. Make sure you track that SOB each day to see where it is located, I was worried that some mailman would drop it it the wrong box or misplace it somewhere so I tracked every few hours until the day it said "went out for delivery". I drove home from work that afternoon and the mailman did put it in my box.

  3. we passed the interview yesterday and was told by the interviewer that we will receive the card in 2 weeks.

the same day in the evening, we received text message from the USCIS website. We logged on to check and the button was on the "Card/Document Production"

    I thought that's done.

But just minutes ago I received an email from USCIS website and I logged on. The Button is now switched to "Decision" and the following message is listed in there.

    Decision

On May 23, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

    Any issues?

  4. Interview today and it was really easy. Both of us in the same room with the interviewer, she asked my wife

    name

    date of birth

    the address

who does my wife live with

asked my wife for her mother name

flipped through the albums and the interviewer loved our wedding pictures.

After answering a bunch of those national security questions of (yes/no) then she told us that we passed the interview and should receive the green card in 2 weeks. The interview lasted for about 15 minutes. She asked for some supporting evidence so I provided her the income tax return, bank stament and health care that both our names on it. She also liked our pictures so much that she asked for 4 to keep.

Later in the day, I received text message and USCIC online updated the news, the greencard is in production mode.

  5. Hi guys,

My wife and I are going to the AOS interview in 3 days. We are putting together all the documents and pictures for the interview.

I have a question. My wife came to the U.S. on a K-1 (financee) Visa and we officially got married in the U.S. after she arrived.

However, we had our wedding pictures taken at the studio in Vietnam before she and I officially got married in the U.S. and we also had a ceremony in Vietnam for the 2 families and friends.

So would it be a problem if we bring our studio wedding pictures and families ceremony that we took in Vietnam to the AOL interview and show them?

    Thanks

  6. Congrats!! From checking other people's EAD times on here, I believe it usually only takes a couple of days to receive the card.

    Thank you so much.

I am so happy for my wifẹ. I will take her to the Social Security Admin office right after we received the EAD card. We applied for SSN since 02/01/13 and they said they could not verify my wifé's status for months. We've been waiting for this EAD card so she can work and apply for SSN to get a driver license and also for me to file tax. I applied for an extension to file tax just because she did not have her SSN. Without EAD card, it was so hard for us to apply for SSN.

Oh my god, I am so happy today, so happy .

  7. I just received Text Message and Email. Went online to check the status of my wife's AED and it says

    Card/ Document Production

On May 10, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

the button is highlighted in the Card/Document Production

But wow, allow 30 days to have the card mailed? Is that long?

  8. Green card interviews for K1's are usually pretty easy. If I recall, they asked for the passports, original marriage certificate, and original birth certificates. After that, there is a bullet list of questions on the I-485 that the immigration officer rattles off and wants a "no" answer from the immigrant on each one. My wife and step-kids didn't speak English well, and we brought my wife's niece - her sister's daughter - to translate. These questions were pretty much the only thing she needed to translate. After the questions the IO asked if I brought a letter of employment, which I provided. She also also asked if we brought any photos, and we passed her two photo albums - one with pics taken in Vietnam, and another with pics taken in the US. She spent at least five minutes browsing through the photo albums. She asked if I had anything else I wanted to give her, and I handed her a pile of bills, insurance EOB's, and other standard evidence stuff. She didn't even look at it, and just asked if she could keep it. I said yes, and she put it all in my wife's file, and then she signed the approval form and handed it to us.

We also interviewed in San Francisco. We're south of you in Hayward. Send me a PM if you need someone to translate. We could probably hook you up with someone. My wife has quite a few family members and friends in the area. I'd guess they'd do it if you bought lunch.

Thank you so much JimVaPhuong, your response above really help alot. I will talk to my wife today about this and to see if she if we can find any friend to help with the translation and I will PM you to ask for someone that can help if we need one. And of course, we would provide more than just lunch, diner and entertainment to your friend as well if your friend can help.

    Thanks

  9. My wife arrived on a K-1 Visa.

She is schedule for green card interview this month May 22nd.

On the interview appoint letter that USCIC sent to us. They said that I (husband) must come to the interview.

They also said my wife should bring a translator if she doesn't speak English well.

My question is. I will come to the interview with her but can I also be the translator for her since I don't know anyone around here that would come to the interview and help her translate.

    Please advice

  10. Hi everyone,

I received an notification email from USCIS today and I checked online. They scheduled my wife for AOS interview on May 22nd and I expect to receive a hard copy letter from them soon.

Would you please share information on how to prepare well for the interview so that she could get approval for her green card?

She came on a K-1 Visa December 14th.

We got married on December 31st.

Applied for SSN on February 5th but SSN Office couldn't verify her status.

We decided to mail her AOS package to get her Employment card first and when we receive her employment card , we will bring the card to SSN office to get her SSN. So far no Employment card yet but she got her biometrics done at a local office.

    March 5th sent AOS package

    I-485

    I-765

March 12th received NOA for both

March 18th received appointment letter for Biometric and finger print

April 4th Biometric and finger print taken

April 12th received text message on cell phone that "Your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS is now ready for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview."

April 22nd received email from USCIS saying her interview will be on May 22nd.

    Thanks

When do you think my Work Permit Card be in the mail?

  12. so is it gonna be a problem for my wife and if there is, what kind of problems since her I-94 is gonna expire next week?

We applied for her SSN on January 2nd. over 2 months ago.

We got married on December 31, 2012, almost 3 months ago.

We filed her AOS 2 days ago.

  13. The SSAdm still have not been able to verify my wife status to issue SSN for her.

I mailed her AOS including the work authorization form I-765 to USCIS yesterday.

also yesterday the SSAdmin called me after I left them so many voice messages in the last 2 weeks. They told me that I need to call USCIS to ask for AED, which is the work authorization form and extend her I-94 because her I-94 is gonna expire on the 13rd of March, which is next week.

Gosh, I am so confused and frustrated about this.

  15. It is almost 2 months since I applied for social security card for my wife but the SS Admin are still telling us that they need to get verification of her status. We came to the SS Admin office 4 times to ask, we also made numerous phone calls to check but still no good news. Each time we came after the 4th week, they made copy of her passport, her I-94 and her K-1 Visa to send to the immigration office but then, days and days and still no good news. My wife can't take learn to drive, can't work, can't go to school.... and I still can't file my 2012 income tax. gosh, what is going on and what should I do now. I've done all the steps from people here advised.

  16. Hi,

I have a question. When I filed I-129F for my fiancee back in 2012, at that time I lived at my old address so I used that address.

Now she has arrived in the U.S. and we are married. I moved to a new place and now filing for AOS. I am using the new address on the forms for AOS, does that mean I have to fill out an Address Change Form and mail it with the I-485?

    thanks
